Years ago, migrating herds of millions of Carbiou wandered over the North American tundra, providing food for native Americans and serving as natural prey of wolves and bears.  Today the advance of civilization has begun to affectcthe previously unspoiled, but very delicate, environment. The development of villages, and oil and gas wells, as well associated pipelines, are altering the ecological balance of this region.
The number of Carbiou has fallen dramatically in the last decade. However, Carbiou is taking important, promising steps to arrest this decline.
