Chapter Thirty One

October 13

"I can't believe Halloween is in like-" Kaylin pauses to count on her fingers. "18 days." 

Right now we're video chatting. Chandler and I are going on our date in like an hour. I just have to find some way to tell Kaylin before I go. 

"Pops, you okay? You seem kind of distant today." 

I shrug. It's now or never.

"It's just that I uh," she stares at me quizzically. "I'mgoingonadatewithChandlerinanhour." I rush. It takes her a moment to process what I said but when she does her eyes widen in shock.

"You're going on a date?" 

I nod. Her mouth gapes open. At first I thought she was going to scream or yell but she doesn't. Instead she yells for Nat. Nat comes running in and smiles when he sees me on the screen. 

"POPPY SEED!" 

Kaylin smacks him. "No, it's serious this time, Nat. It's time to have the talk with Poppy Seed. She's going on a date." My eyes widen in horror as does Nat's. He then turns to me. "I SWEAR IF THAT BOY LAYS A FINGER ON YOU I'LL KILL HIM. By the way, who is it?" 

"Chandler." Kaylin tells him for me. 

Nat stares at me and then to Kaylin. Then starts laughing. "P-Poppy, you're joking right?" He laughs. 

"No?" 

Nat straightens up. "But- But Austin." He frowns. Kaylin smacks his chest. "Austin and Grace. Remember." 

Nat makes a sour face. "Grace can shove a cactus up her-" Kaylin smacks him again, harder this time to where I can actually hear the impact. 

"Sorry." Nat mutters. 

"So," Kaylin looks at me. "When's the date." 

I glance up at the clock on the wall and check my phone. Chandler texted me he's coming a little early since I told him I was already ready.

"Uh soon." 

We sit in silence for a few moments until Karson comes in and sits next to me. Kaylin squeals. "MUNCHKIN." Nat grins. Karson rolls his eyes.  

"Know what the ironic thing is?" I ask, after Karson gets situated on my bed. 

"What?" Nat and Kaylin say in unison. 

"Chandler met Brianna on a cruise ship. They broke up on a cruise ship. Now I'm going on a date with him on a cruise ship." 

Kaylin stares at me through the screen. "That is ironic. So, do you really really realllllly like him?" She asks making the last really in a high pitched voice.

"I mean, I guess so. He's nice and stuff, so why not give him a chance." 

Kaylin nods. 

After a few minutes, we all hung up and I promised to call them back after the date. Now Chandler and I are walking down the hall to wherever it is we're going for our date.

"So this is your first date?" Chandler asks. Do I tell him about the dare date with Austin? 

"Technically, yes." 

He nods.

We walk into the place we were at the other day. A grin spreads across his face. Bumper cars. 

"Do you want to be on the same cart or be against each other?" He asks, the grin still on his face. 

We decide to be in the same car. I get in next to him since he wanted to drive. "Please don't be ask reckless as Sam and Karson."
