It was an eventful year for Jaclyn Maria "Mercy" Martinez. She had crossed the Atlantic to pursue a criminal and former student of her's, fallen in love with a grim reaper, was hit on by a demon, met the last of a clan believed to have died out, caught up on old times with a dear friend, had her secret of being born a reaper exposed, and almost killed a thirteen year old boy, and then that boy became a demon, and then she became a shut in of sorts. It had truly been a year to remember, after all the fuss was done and over with she had decided to retire from being whatever she was to the world. She refused all public appearances and refused to return to America, she decided to cease all contact with her older brother. All she had wanted to do at this point was relax, she just wanted to tend to the roses in her garden. It was almost her birthday and everyone who knew about it had wanted to throw a party for her, planing a surprise party would have been impossible. Seeing as how she rarely left her country side mansion, she did want a party. She did not want any humans see her being taken away to learn how to harvest mortal souls and deciding who lives and dies. Grell said since her job before already had her doing that it would be easier for her to get used to the work of a grim reaper.

"My, my, my where did the time go?" Asked Mercy to the mirror in front of her, that she had been standing in front of nude. "It's been a year and I'll be twenty five by the end of the week."

"Jaclyn guess who came to see you!!!" Shouted Josephine as she entered Mercy's room. "Hey who were you talking to?"

"Hi Josephine, I wasn't talking to anyone except the mirror." Said Mercy as she slipped on her black silk robe. "So what did you come here for?"

"I came to convince you to throw yourself a birthday party." Said Josephine as she sat on the bed with her legs crossed. "Your going to be 25, you'll be older. You should have a party so you can look young you know."

"I'm not having a party, I think I made that perfectly clear." Said Mercy as she walked to the closet to pick out an outfit for the day. "But I am glad you showed up today, I need to talk to you about something very important."

"Oh? What do you want to talk about?" Asked Josephine.

"Go wait for me in the parlor." Said Mercy as she pulled out a long black dress. "I'll tell you about it when I've gotten dressed." Said Mercy as she laid the dress out on the bed and searched for a pair of matching shoes. Josephine left the room feeling confused and wondering what her sister was going to tell her. Josephine had arrived in England a while ago on business, a very wealthy spice company wanted to buy a recipe for a sauce she had come up with. After the sale was successful, the company decided to ask her if she wanted to produce an entire line of sauces varying in taste. Josephine being the chef and business woman she was humbly accepted the offer, and had then decided to do as her sister did and moved to England, but chose to live in the city of London. Josephine had been sitting in the parlor for about ten minutes twiddling her thumbs until Mercy came in with some papers.

"So what do you want to talk to me about sis?" Asked Josephine as Mercy put the papers down on a small table and took a seat.

"I Wanted to ask you something, something very important." Said Mercy as she held her hands and looked down, almost emotionless. "How would you feel if I went away and left you all my things?"

"Huh? What kind of a question is that?" Asked Josephine, feeling  bit out ragged as if her feelings were ignored at some point. "Are you going on some kind of a trip?"

"Well sort of." Said Mercy as she refused to look up at her half sister. "It is a trip of sort's but the thing is..... I may not be coming back."

"What! Not coming back!" Shouted Josephine as she stood from her chair. "Where are you going? What kind of trouble are you in this time?"

"I'm not in any trouble, it's just something that's been on the verge of happening." Said Mercy as she stayed calm. "I'll be going away for a long, long time. So I want to leave everything to you and James and Stephanie. I'm only telling you because I know you can give them what I'm leaving them."

"Jaclyn it sounds like you talking about a... a... a will." Said Josephine almost terrified.

"Well it's kinda like that." Said Jaclyn as she presented the paper work to Josephine. "I'm more or less passing on my property and money to you and everyone around me."

"So where are you going then sis?" Asked Josephine as she began to get upset. "Are you even going to be coming back?"

"I'm going somewhere not a lot of people are allowed to go." Said Mercy as she headed for the door. "But I won't really be leaving, in a way I'll always be right behind you."

"Jaclyn what are you saying?" Asked Josephine through her tears.

"Don't worry you'll see me again one day, only when you see me everyone around you will be very sad." Said Mercy as she looked back at her sister before leaving the room. "I will be there the day your soul departs."
