I always thought my life would end like this, with a husband who loved me, playing with my grandchildren. What I hadn't expected was what came before my happy ending and I now know I shall never take my life for granted again.

The cross at my throat was cold against my skin and I closed my eyes in thought. I felt a slight pressure on the top of my now grey locks as my husband dropped a kiss on my head and opened my eyes to see him. The man who had brought me so many problems, yet I couldn't stop loving him if I tried.

"Flo..." he whispered my name. Worry filled his eyes. I let a faint smile play at my lips.

His white hair was made even whiter by the sun. I rememeber his hair when it was golden red, like fire. I  tried to talk to him but the years had caught up with me and I let the darkness of old age take me. The darkness I had been fighting for so long to see his face one last time.
