"Its cold here," I whined, pulling my coat closed.

Carter and I are currently at the airport waiting for his flight to North Carolina to be called. He's heading home for Christmas and won't be back till the twenty ninth, which sorta sucks, but yeah, whatever.

"Why? You're hot," He smirked at me, and then kissed my freezing cold nose.

"Pfft, I know," I giggled.

"Christmas is great, don't you think?" He asked, looking out at the snow that was currently falling lightly. "Food, fun, family. Pretty cool and all."

"Yeah, its great," I said, forcing a smile.

"You're seeing yours tomorrow, right?" He asked, referring to my family.

"Um, yeah," I nodded, a churning feeling occurring deep in my stomach.

Carter thinks I'm heading back to New York to spend Christmas with my family, but I'm not. I never do. I haven't spent Christmas with my family in almost five years.

I know, you're thinking, what? She's only nineteen. How is it possible that she hasn't spent Christmas with her family in five years?

Well, long story made short, my parents died when I was really young and ever since then, I lived with my aunt and uncle. Eventually when I was fourteen, I found out that the only reason they tolerated me was because of the massive trust fund my parents left for me. Anyways, since then I pretty much hated them, and have refused to spend Christmas and any other family related holidays with them.

"Babe, you're zoned out," Carter's voice interrupted, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Huh, what?" I asked, looking at him.

"I asked if you were okay," He said.

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine," I nodded.

"You sure?" He asked.

"Yep," I confirmed.

He accepted my answer and then pressed a light kiss to my forehead.

"Baby," I whined a while later.

"Hmm?" He responded.

"Don't you wanna go get us something from Starbucks?" I asked with a small smile.

"Yeah, sure," He smiled, standing up, but not before his phone, which was currently lying in my lap because I was taking selfies, went off with a text. "Check that for me, please?" He asked as he walked away.

Okay, relationship trust goals achieved.

Typing in his password, which was our anniversary, I couldn't help but frown at the message.

It was from Maggie. Maggie Lindemann.

Maggie☺: Hey, Reynolds. When you gonna be back from NC? Let's make plans. x

My frown deepened as I went through their other messages. Apparently they met up a while back? What?

Shaking my head of all fearing thoughts, I went off the messages and then locked the phone again. But my thoughts were still all over the place. Look, I'm not being a jealous girlfriend or anything, but Carter meeting up with Maggie kinda scares me a little. I mean, since when do exes hangout?

"Venti PSL for the most special girl in the world," Carter's voice said, once again snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, thanks babe," I said with a small smile as he handed me my favourite Starbucks drink.

"Who texted?" He asked as he sat back down.

"Uh, just the phone company," I lied, not wanting to say anything about Maggie to make the convo awkward.

"Oh, okay," He shrugged.

The next forty five minutes were spent waiting for Carter's flight to be called and taking random selfies together. When his flight was eventually called, we did the whole soppy goodbye thing before he boarded.

"Call me when you land, yeah?" I said to him.

"Yeah, I will," He grinned at me before kissing me again and then disappearing through the boarding gate.

On my way home, I stopped by KFC to order dinner for myself -which Teresa would be proud of- because for the next six days, its just gonna be me. Heather and Carmen flew back to New York for the holidays, and Cait is spending it with Cam. They flew to Thailand so Cam could meet her parents and siblings and they're only coming back on the twenty eighth. It was a spontaneous decision they suddenly made last night, then they flew out this morning.

At home, I quickly showered and changed into my onesie before grabbing my dinner and settling with a blanket in front of the TV to watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

My mind was totally blank as the only thing I could think of was the messages from Maggie on Carter's phone. Look, I'm not tripping or anything, but would Carter be okay with me texting and hanging out with my ex? He obviously wouldn't. God, why am I so wound up about this?

Suddenly, my phone vibrated with a tweet, snapping me out of my thoughts.

@carterreynolds: Not even two hours in the air and I already miss my girl ♥ @liahmariezain. x

I couldn't help but smile at the tweet. Maybe I'm getting to worked up about this Maggie thing.

They're just friends. That's all.
