~Jack (Gilinsky)~

"Hey, Mads? Who you texting?" I asked my girlfriend, Madison, seeing that she's been occupied with her phone almost all evening.

"Uh, just a friend," She said, briefly looking up.

I couldn't help but frown, realising that she wasn't telling the truth because if she were, she would have looked me straight in the eye.
This continued for another half an hour or so, and when she finally got up to go to the bathroom, I grabbed the silver Iphone from her spot on the couch. What? I don't mean to pry, but I want to know what's up.

I couldn't believe my eyes as I read the conversation on the screen. Who the fuck is Chase, and why the hell is he calling her baby and sending hearts?

"Jack? What the hell are you doing?" Madison's voice snapped.

"Who the fuck is Chase?" I asked, unwillingly glaring at her.

"Jack, its not what it looks like, I swear," She covered.

"Madison, who the fuck is he?" I asked again, my voice hard on edge.

"H-he's just a boy in my bio class," She stuttered.

"So, you're cheating on me with some school boy?" I asked, feeling my anger start to build up.

"I'm not cheating on you!" She defended.

"Oh, well I'm pretty sure saying 'come over just after ten. He'll be gone by then' sounds like you're cheating!" I spat. "So what? Did you cheat on me?"

"We kissed, once, but I swear that's it!" She said, almost on the verge of tears.

"Wow, okay," I shook my head, not wanting to hear more.

"Jack, please, I -" she began, but I was already picking up my coat and walking out the door.

Turning back to look at her, I said the only two words that could express my anger. "We're done."

I felt no emotion as I drove away from Madison's house. Of course she would cheat on me with some guy from her bio class. The signs were obvious from the start, but I ignored them.

Eventually after half an hour of driving, I ended up at Starbucks. After ordering just a plain filter coffee, I took a seat in the corner of the coffee shop and proceeded to drown my sorrows in coffee(what? I'm not legal yet.)

"Need some company?" A female voice asked.

I looked up to face the person.

"Carmen, hey," I said, attempting not to sound so down.

"Are you okay? You seem pretty off," She said, sliding into the seat next to me.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I lied.

"You know, I have a younger brother and sometimes he has the exact same look on his face and then I know something is up," She said knowingly.

"You really don't wanna hear my pathetic sob stories," I sighed.

"I'm a good listener," She persisted. Looking into her brown eyes, the sincerity was overwhelming.

"Madison cheated on me," I said at last.

"Wait, your girlfriend?" She asked. I nodded. "Wow, Jack, that's awful," She said.
"Yeah, it is," I said.

"I really wish I could tell you that it's all gonna be okay, but I don't really know," She said.

"Thanks anyways," I said, attempting a half smile.

"If it makes you feel better, she's an idiot for cheating on you," She said. Once again, looking into her eyes, I felt a spark run through me.

Before I knew it, I was doing the unthinkable; I was leaning in to kiss her.

And that's exactly what I did. I kissed her.

It was soft and gentle and her lips felt perfect against mine.

"Jack, I -we -this -" she stuttered as we pulled away.

"I, um, I didn't mean -Im sorry," I apologised, not knowing what to say.

"No uh, it's okay," She said, avoiding all eye contact with me.

"Thanks for listening though," I said.

"That's no problem," She said with a small smile.

I couldn't help but feel guilty about the kiss, though. Madison and I broke up not even an hour ago, and worst, I kissed the girl my best friend has a crush on.
