LMOLM - Part 5

Lily was unconscious the whole ride from Howland's place to the hospital. Spencer was freaking out in the ambulance but the EMT's kept telling him she was okay.

"She's breathing." They had said. "That's a good sign. She's a strong woman."

Being the one who accompanied her in the ambulance, he was the first to arrive to the hospital and the only one to watch as Lily's unresponsive body was taken away to the ER. He sat down in despair and buried his face in his hands, only lifting it up when he felt JJ's comforting presence by his side after a few minutes. About twenty minutes later, Penelope arrived, since he had to drive all the way from Quantico to the hospital. She broke down crying and only calmed down when Spencer held her close and assured her the doctors believed Lily would be alright.

It was almost morning again, but not one of them had left the waiting room. JJ had called Will and explained the situation. Hotch had also called Jack to tell him why he wasn't home that morning when he woke up. Rossi had made both, Spencer and Penelope eat something as they waited. He knew they were worried, but that didn't mean they had to starve as well.

"Agent Scottley?"

At the sound of her name, the whole team got up. The doctor looked at them surprised. Not many patients had that many people waiting for them all night in the hospital. It was usually just a sibling or a husband, but she decided not to comment on that.

"Agent Scottley is fine." She smiled, as she saw the pure relief written on all of their faces. "I don't really want to know how she managed to get like that, but you should all know she's a fighter. She has many bruises all over her body. Legs, arms, stomach, face, neck... Everywhere. But they are all superficial. A few will take a week, maybe two to heal. Others will leave scars, but I guess she's used to that? She already had one on her face."

"Yeah." JJ said. "She got attacked by dogs about 6 years ago."

The doctor nodded.

"Now, for the most serious wounds... She had a broken ankle and we needed to perform a surgery to fix it. She won't be able to walk for three weeks, and later, she'll be on crutches for another four, but it'll be okay, eventually. She had also a hemorrhage on her vocal chords, which means she'll be in total vocal rest for two, maybe three days. There's also a possibility of her tone of voice changing permanently."

"How much?" Hotch asked, as the Doctor shrugged.

"It's hard to say, but I believe it'll become a lower tone." She explained. "She'll have to go see a speech therapist for a while. And a physiotherapist as well."

"Well, she'll love it..." Rossi mumbled, already imagining how grumpy she would be having to go to that many doctors and specialists. And that, without counting the psychologist she will most certainly refuse to see.

"Anything else?" Spencer asked, as the Doctor nodded.

"She was undernourished and dehydrated. She was unconscious due to that and probably due to some sort of stress or something like that. We decided to leave her in an induced coma until we give her all the sera and remedy she needs, so when she wakes up, she won't be in much pain."

"How long will she be out?" He asked.

"Seven, maybe eight hours."

"Can I stay with her?"

The Doctor sighed, as she shook her head sadly at him.

"Only family is allowed in the ER, I'm sorry."

"She doesn't have any family around." He said. "Please, let me see her."

"I can't." She insisted. "Go home, Agent. Take a bath, get some sleep. Ms. Scottley will be out for a few more hours. As soon as she wakes up, you'll be the first one to know, I promise."
