The Tale of Anabelle
Every two thousand years, a keeper of the forest is chosen amongst two children. Half mortal, and half immortal. When the ceremony takes place, and a life is threatened, what will happen when the keeper is taken from their world?
When Anabelle comes of age upon her twentieth birthday, she is thrust into a world she knows nothing of. With a darkness looming over the Black Forest and all that reside in it, Anabelle will have to face not only herself, but the knowledge that if she dies... so will the world.
He placed the teardrop around her neck once more, and she tucked it into her tunic. The hand at her waist tightened, 'War cannot be avoided... when the ones we fight crave it. Come back to the keep, Anabelle.'
The hand at her waist seared the skin under her garments, and she felt her chest tighten, her breath quietly escaping her lungs as she looked up at him.
Anabelle peered around the tree, and she quickly sucked in air as the tip of a blade pressed against the soft skin of her neck. She backed up slowly as Gallian came forward, Néefar reached for his own blade but came up short, he had left it behind in his hast to reach Anabelle.
'Gallian,' came Anabelle's cautious voice in the silence.
His wrist gave a quick flick, and the blade lightly grazed against her skin, a small line of blood following the curves of her neck.
Anabelle winced at the temporary pain, resisting the urge to put her hand at her throat.
'Spying in the cover of night. What shall I do...no shifter, I would not do that, or else I will slit her throat.'
