For once, Mariko was the first to wake up. It was still dark outside, telling her that it was either early morning, or still the middle of the night. She glanced at Keigo, who was thankfully still sound asleep and didn't look like he'd be waking up anytime soon (truth be told the blonde had barely gotten an hour's worth of sleep a night while she'd been away). Shifting her weight, she stretched her arm out and grabbed her phone, squinting at the brightness. It was just past six in the morning.

She carefully, put her phone back and detangled herself from the sleeping male. It was fine to start making breakfast right?

Walking to the refrigerator, she frowned seeing she had no food left. "I was supposed to buy food last week," she remembered. Sighing, Mariko walked back to her room and grabbed her things. She could make back from the grocery store before he woke up, right? Just in case she grabbed a sticky note and quickly scribbled out where she'd be so he wouldn't freak out when he didn't see her. Like she had done so many months ago, she stuck the paper on the headboard right above where the male was sleeping and silently walked out the door.

When he did wake up about two hours later, the first thing he noticed was that Mariko was missing. He sat up much too quickly, pulling his wing that he'd still been half laying on when he was asleep. A little square piece of paper fluttered down onto his lap.

               Keigo,

Went to buy food. Don't freak out. Call if you need anything.

-        Mari

The blonde jumped out of bed, taking the comforter with him, and ran/stumbled into the kitchen to get his phone and call her. His heart rate spiking as he thought about her being without him. He stopped when he saw the brunette standing in the kitchen.

She turned around hearing him enter the room and smiled briefly before returning her attention to the pan. "Morning. You slept in today," she commented as she pushed something with a spatula.

The male pouted, still a bit upset at being put in a panic first thing in the morning. He walked over to her and wrapped her arms around her tightly from behind. He sighed as he nuzzled into her neck. "You weren't there when I woke up," he complained.

I was making breakfast," she said, tilting her head away and providing him a view of chocolate chip pancakes.

"Still..." he trailed off. After being away from her for a week, he was feeling seriously cuddle deprived. It was incredibly annoying that she had been able to break away from him so quickly after coming back. She wasn't even looking at him now. "Does she find fucking pancakes more interesting than me?" he wondered bitterly.

Determined to make himself the focus of her attention, he nuzzled further into her neck and started placing soft kisses just below her jawline.

Mariko stilled for a moment, but otherwise maintained her composure. As much as she liked it, she knew he was just trying to distract her and refused to give in as easily as she had done before.

Of course, Keigo had never been one to back down from a challenge; especially when it pertained to her. Actually, it just spurred him on further. He worked his way down her neck until he reached the spot that really got a reaction out of her. Mariko let out a quiet moan- a sound he hadn't known he'd needed to hear until then but now that he had, he was determined to hear it again. He sucked on it harshly, making her wince, but relaxed again when he opened his mouth and ran over the sore spot soothingly.

"Kei, if you're not gonna help, go sit down," she said breathlessly. She was already somewhat leaning on the stove. If she lost her balance for whatever reason she definitely wouldn't escape without a burn or two.

He'd been so concentrated on his goal that the use of the nickname had almost gone over his head. He could've sworn he was hearing things. "Say that again," he said, detaching himself from her neck where a bright red mark was left in his place. He smirked down at it proudly.

"Kei, if you're just gonna mess around, sit down and wait for breakfast," she repeated. She was a bit annoyed, already knowing he'd left a hickey.

"You just called me Kei," he whispered, his eyes wide in amazement.

No one had ever called his name with affection before Mariko, much less given him a nickname His parents had barely ever called for him, especially by his name. At best they referred to him as "boy." So now, hearing her call him Kei had him over the moon.

"I did," she said, tilting her head curiously.

He was beaming now, a blinding smile stretched across his lips. "Just when I thought things couldn't get any better," he thought. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the angry, red spot on her neck. "Say it again," he requested.

"Kei?" she asked, a bit confused as to why he was making such a big deal out of it.

The male nodded.

"Kei, the pancakes are gonna burn," she told him, smiling a bit when she saw his wings flap happily from the corner of her eye. "... that's cute."

"They can catch on fire. Say it again."

"Kei," she hummed, turning and pecking his lips.

"Yes Mari?" he asked. His heart could burst with happiness. He would do whatever she wanted if she kept calling him that.

"Foods ready."

The blonde groaned. Even though he was hungry, he didn't want to let go of her which he knew would have to happen for them to eat (there was no way Mariko would consent to sitting on his lap while they ate). Reluctantly, he let go of her to trudge off solemnly to the dining table where he would have to look at her from the other side of a glass slab.

"Where are you going?" she asked, taking her plate, and starting to walk to her bedroom.

"What?" he asked. He stared at her for a moment, his eyes lighting up when he realized what was going on. "We're gonna have breakfast in bed?"

She smiled at him, "That was the original plan, unless you don't wanna..."

In a flash, a feather had taken her plate out of her hands and the male was throwing her over his shoulder. She laughed as he barreled into the bedroom, throwing her on the mattress.

"You're amazing you know?" he asked.

She smiled and kissed him deeply. "I know," she said cheekily, taking her plate from the feather.
