(Original, An idea I had after watching season 1 of Love, Victor so wanted to take some inspiration from the show and write something new. Let me know what you think.)
Alex
It was quiet now in the new house, Mum, Clarissa, Declan and Bailey went back to get the last box from storage while Dad, Penelope, Kaila and I kept unboxing our own stuff, Having just arrived today.
Dad: "So, Alex, What do you think?"
Alex: "It's... Something."
Dad: "It will grow on you. Hey don't pull one of those faces I'm sure you will love it here."
Kaila: "I miss my friends."
Penelope: "Yeah, Why did we have to move?"
Dad: "Because I got a new job and We had to move here so we can do more things. You know what I mean don't you Alex?"
Alex: "Well, Yeah I do."
Dad: "I'm sensing a but?"
Alex: "No it's, It's fine. I'll get used to it eventually."
Dad: "I'm sure it won't take long."
Walking through the Much bigger house from our last one up North, I couldn't lie it was nice. Everyone got their own room which was... strange, knowing I wouldn't wake up with Declan on the other side of the room snoring, And it had a large Kitchen for mum and her cooking. A large study for dad and his work. Being only 16 does have it's benefits in seeing the positives but I do miss home.
Dad: "Come on, I'll help you move your boxes into your room. You are going to do fine."
Alex: "I'm fine, I can handle it. You go help the girls."
Dad: "Uh, Sure. I'll let you get adjusted."
I hoisted up another bland, Brown box and lugged it over to my new room upstairs. These would be a pain but I'll manage. Opening the door, I just kind of looked around. A couple of boxes with my name on them were already here, Likely Clarissa's doing but it was just big. My bed Placed along the left wall, A desk I need to build in its box on the ground in the corner. I just needed to find ways to make this room feel more like home.
Alex: "Here's to a new start I guess."
As time went on, I left a box unpacked which contained everything I wanted on my desk, like my laptop, a couple of Pop Vynals I liked. And began working on my desk. It took me another two hours before I heard a knock on my door.
Alex: "Come in Mum."
Mum: "How are you feeling sweety?"
Alex: "Stressed, This desk is annoying me."
Mum: "Well we are home now I just wanted to let you know. Declen is in his room why not ask him to help?"
Alex: "Maybe tomorrow after school, We are still ok with the school right? I don't want to go in there completely unaware."
Mum: "I know, But at least you won't be alone? Dec will be with you tomorrow."
Alex: "Yeah, But the girls are more important, They are the ones we should be worrying about. Maybe I'm just stressing out for them."
Mum: "I always thought you should have been first, and Clarissa should have been with your brother."
Alex: "Well, I'm with him, And it's better than nothing. This desk on the other hand."
Mum: "Come downstairs, we brought some food home for everyone. Might want to get in quick before your sisters get stuck in."
Alex: "Yeah, A break might do me some good."
Standing from my kneeled position was tough at first but I got through it and walked out once I was ready. I looked down the hall to see Dec's room next to me.
Declen: "Looking for me?"
Alex: "Maybe."
Declen: "If you want me to do the table then I already told Mum I'd help."
Alex: "Thanks."
Declen: "Not a problem. You were never good at building things."
Alex: "Maybe not but at least I can pass a test."
Declen: "I passed my tests."
Alex: "You mean I passed your tests."
Declen and I looked identical. It got to the point at our old school, That bitch Mr Lowe Made one of us dye our hair lighter so people could tell the difference. Instead, Mum bought me a fake pair of glasses that looked real and it worked for a couple of weeks until we kept swapping them around and got caught by his daughter. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree, She's a bitch too.
Declen: "And we can go back to doing what we do now. Don't need glasses or hair dye this year."
Alex: "Just don't do anything stupid."
Declen: "Fine, Come on. Mum brought home chicken and chips for tonight and then back to cooking tomorrow."
Dec and I were yeah, Identical. From the black hair and Height standing at 5 foot 6, To our slightly muscular builds thanks to Mums cooking and Doing sports growing up out of school. While Declen went into Football, Hockey, Basketball. I more leaned towards Soccer and Martial Arts. I considered us lucky that both of our parents earned a large enough amount of money for us all to do what we liked. And now in moving, Mum opened a new restaurant and Dad got a promotion too. Some bigwig role at a new company he was pitched for. I couldn't help but look at my family and how... Cliche it was from the outside, I didn't want to ruin it.
The next day I woke up to my alarm, Got out of bed and changed into comfortable clothing. Still not quite used to my new room, though thankful my brother got the desk built quickly.
Clarissa: "Alex you up?"
Alex: "Yeah Ris I'm up."
Clarissa: "Your bus is in 20 minutes."
Alex: "I'll be ready."
And I was. Waiting down the street a bit for Declen to catch up.
Declen: "Why did we opt for public school again?"
Alex: "Because we have always done Public school, And we have two years left. Risa is off to College in a few days and Bailey, Kaila and Penelope have only known private schooling. And we handle Public schools better anyway."
Declen: "Oh, Right. So how do we want to do this? Twin telepathy, Close but not too close... or something different?"
I turned to face him as he had a small smile on his face, likely thinking of all of the jokes we would pull on people. Yeah it was funny, But I kind of, Just wanted something new.
Alex: "We play the new kids, Get to school and just go from there."
Declen: "Ahh, I go in first you go after me?"
Alex: "No just... I don't want to be just known as the twins. I love you, But I want to also have my own friends this time."
Declen: "You had your own friends last year."
Alex: "They were your friends, The football team were close and you kept me with you so I wouldnt get bullied."
Declen: "And when you did we swapped and I scared them. Win win."
Alex: "Declen come on man. I know that you know what I'm talking about. I just want, Something different."
He had turned to face me during our conversation, Worry creased across his face.
Declen: "Alex... Are you ok?"
Alex: "I'm fine. Let's just, wait till we get to school."
Riding the bus was a little awkward I guess but I brought that on myself. I know he would worry but I did mean what I said. I wanted something different. I'd still do his Maths classes while he did my Sports but still. I wanted my own friends. I could hear small whispers as we rode, the new kids were twins. Comments about us but I was prepared for that. It wasn't until I got to school and realised how big this place was that I realised it would be a better idea to be more individual than I thought.
????: "Hi you must be the new boys right? I'm Mrs Herron and I teach Science here. Welcome to Soulworth high school."
Alex: "Thanks."
Mrs Herron: "Now I'm sure you have a lot of questions but please hold until the end of the tour."
Taking a look at my surroundings, there were just a lot of kids walking through the halls, Up and down stairs and around corners. It was huge. Mrs Herron heading Upstairs herself and turning to face us, Expecting us to follow her. Declen and I just turned to each other and shrugged before following.
Mrs Herron: "Smart boys, You would get lost if you didn't have a guide."
Mrs Herron stood a little taller than us, With Dark hair and a little red beret on her head. She had a very French Aesthetic about her when she was actually just a little curvy and Hispanic looking. I hope I'm right otherwise I'm not a nice person.
Mrs Herron: "And along this wall include more classrooms, Upstairs you will find History, Geography and Mathematics. Downstairs you will find our science Labs. Other classes are around the school and I will show you later. Any questions so far no good."
Declen: "Uh actually I have one. When will we get our schedules?"
Mrs Herron: "Your teacher will hand them to you during your first class. Speaking of Alex you have English first, Declen you have Maths. Neither of you are in my class for science but that's no problem you might be next year."
Showing us around again, We heard the bell ring as she took me first to my classroom. Letting my teacher, Mr Hytes, Know I was new.
Mr Hytes: "Thank you Mrs Herron, Have a lovely day. Alex I will get you to sit down over... there next to Patty."
Alex: "Thanks."
As I moved to take my seat, I could still hear whispers of students talking about us. One girl I overheard mentioning she thought I was hot which was a nice compliment.
Patty: "Hey, Patty nice to meet you."
Alex: "Alex, And you too Patty."
Thankfully Mr Hytes didn't make me talk in front of everyone. And neither did my second class.
Declen: "Spoken to anyone yet?"
Alex: "Not yet, I'll likely just grab a tray and ask to sit somewhere?"
Declen: "And you are sure you want to solo this one?"
Alex: "It's not that I want to solo it. I just, Like I said, I don't want to be known as just the twins. I want people to know you as Declen and me and Alex. Nothing else."
Declen: "Alex if all you wanted was the individuality you could have just said so from the start. And I know how you feel, I was feeling that way back at Mosey anyway. Well then, I will see you after school, Still gonna have to bus it home."
Alex: "Yeah I know."
We hopped in line, Grabbed a tray and made separate journeys to sit down. Declen was already looking friendly with some of the guys at a table so he must have been more open in the classroom.
Alex: "Good on you."
I started to walk towards a free seat a little further on when I felt a light tap on my shoulder, Turning around to see a taller lady with Brunette hair.
????: "Hey, You're the new kid today right? You seemed a bit lost so thought I'd offer a free seat."
Alex: "Oh, Thanks. I'm Alex by the way."
????: "Kilarna, Nice to meet you."
She led me to a table which only had 3 other people sitting down, The three messing around with big smiles on their face at each other.
Kilarna: "Hey guys, Alex is new here so thought I'd offer a spare seat. Alex this is Benjamin or Ben for short. Luke and Lulu. These two are brother and sister with Luke being older by 1 year."
I introduced myself and took my seat, Kilarna doing a good job of introducing me and keeping me in the conversation with them.
Luke: "So what's your next class?"
He was a bit bigger than I was muscle wise. Likely a sporty kind of person.
Alex: "Uhh History."
Kilarna: "Anyone in that class?"
Ben: "Nope."
Lulu: "No, You should be able to find it pretty easily."
Kilarna: "Luke?"
Luke: "I have Geography which is close by, I'll take you then."
Alex: "Thanks."
Lulu: "So you and your brother are twins, How many siblings do you have?"
Alex: "6 of us all up. One older sister, Me and Declen and then three younger sisters."
I watched as Kilarna's eyes widened a little, Most likely in surprise.
Lulu: "You boys must be pretty close then?"
Alex: "Yeah, I mean Dad and Dec are the closest for sure but that's just because he played Football and Hockey and stuff. I just kind of drift under the radar really."
Luke: "Not much interesting?"
Alex: "Not really, Well I mean I get along with everyone and we all have our own things we are good at. But judging on how Lulu said it, He's Dad's favourite and well, Mum could never choose but it's easily Kaila and Penelope who are the youngest. We've always said they should have been twins as well with how close they are but it's cool."
Kilarna: "And the other two?"
Alex: "Clarissa is 20, She goes into college soon. And Bailey is 14."
Ben: "So then shouldnt Bailey be here with you two?"
Alex: "Nope, The girls do Private school and the boys do public. Half our choice, Half we saw what Clarissa went through and wanted absolutely nothing to do with that."
I felt a little comfortable actually, Being able to relax feels good but there was always something just nagging me in the back of my head. I kept it under lock and key, So even though I'm in a new school, I didnt feel confident yet. Not when Declen is still here.
Kilarna: "Anyone back home?"
Alex: "Anyone as in?"
Kilarna: "Like a girlfriend?"
Alex: "Oh, Nah I was too occupied with studying and after school activities. I did Martial arts and Soccer and they kept me busy."
Ben: "Well maybe you can find someone here at SoulWorth?"
Kilarna: "Ben can be quite optimistic but he's also very gullible."
Ben: "I am not."
Luke: "Anyway, No one giving you shit yet?"
Alex: "Not yet?"
Luke: "Finished eating?"
Alex: "Honestly, I'm not all that hungry."
Luke: "Alright let's go for a walk, I'll show you to your next class."
Alex: "Sure. It was nice to meet you all."
As I stood up and emptied my tray, Placing it down beside the bin on the table, Luke led me through a few crowds towards History. Knocking a few times before we heard a sound to come in.
Luke: "Hey Mrs Z, This here is Alex, One of the new students."
Mrs Z: "Oh hey, Uh ok I can put you there next to Chloe."
Luke: "Good luck man, I gotta run but you will be fine, She's a sweet person so you should be ok."
Alex: "Ok, Hey thanks for showing me here."
Luke: "No problem, And it goes without saying but you're welcome to sit with us again later."
He waved me off before half running half walking towards his next destination, I followed my instructions and took my seat, Though only a few minutes later, Declen was led in with another kid. I internally groaned a little cos this meant we couldn't swap History classes.
Mrs Z: "Oh twins, How interesting. Declen I will get you on the other side of your brother sitting next to Jesse."
Declen: "No problem. Hey Alex."
Alex: "What's up, Saw you made some new friends?"
Declen: "Oh at lunch. Couple of guys I met in class, they seem pretty chill. How about you, You made some friends too."
Alex: "The table I was at. They were nice as well, Apparently Ben is gullible and Kilarna looks like someone who would care about upholding an image but aside from that, They seem really nice."
Mrs Z: "Luke and his sister are a delight to have in class so you lucked into some good friends."
Alex: "Thanks Miss."
While we sat and talked about what had been going on so far. The bell had rung, Causing students to move around and get to class on time, Though while we were both watching. A shorter looking girl with Beautiful Long Black hair and thin rimmed glasses held her books to her chest and sat down beside me.
Chloe: "Oh you are new. Hello, Chloe, Nice to meet you."
Alex: "You too Chloe."
I watched as more students came in until one guy walked in quickly, A little out of breath as he came in and slowed his pace. He was around Mine and my brothers height but he was... something, Something stopped me from paying attention to anything else but the man who walked in. His Short and Wavy hair, His gorgeous darker skin tone like Luke and Lulu, And he walked with Grace.
Mrs Z: "Practice again Jesse?"
Jesse: "Yeah, Sorry."
I watched him move towards my brother and while I tried not to stare, If anyone paid attention I'd be screwed. He took a seat beside my brother and introduced himself.
Declen: "Yeah I'm not too bad actually. This is my Twin Alex."
Alex: "Hi..."
Jesse: "It's a pleasure to you both. New school must be exciting."
Declen: "Not something we haven't handled before, Right Lex?"
Alex: "Sort of yeah.."
I tried so hard to take my eyes off the man sitting beside my brother and scanned the room. People looking around and at us but some were a bit confused with something.
Mrs Z: "Actually, What I might do. Declen and Alex, Can I get you two swapping for me? Declen I will get you next to Chloe and Alex beside Jesse. I think that will work better."
Fuck, But I have to do what I'm told. I grabbed my few things and transferred with my brother, He and Chloe having a quick chat no problem while Jesse just kind of watched me a little.
Jesse: "Not much of a talker are you?"
Alex: "Uh, More so just determined to do good in class."
Jesse: "Hey I can respect that. If you need any help around the school just let me know ok?"
Alex: "Yeah, Thanks."
Fuck he's so hot.
