You walked out of the potions classroom, looking at all your classmates walking out with you. Some went with little groups of girls, others with a group of boys and others mixed. You never got how people had more then 3 friends. Maybe it was because you were kind of shy.
You had one best friend. Girl of course. You didn't like guys... well you liked them but you were so uncomfortable around them. You never thought they saw you as anything. Interesting, a friend or even more. It was awful to keep thinking that.
'Come on Y/N!' Your best friend smiled, 'let's go to dinner.'
'Okay.' You smiled.
You had class until very late today so dinner was almost there. You started walking towards the great hall. You looked around and saw a group of Slytherins.
They always picked on you. All the time.. because you were shy and because you never spoke to any guy.
'Just ignore them, okay?'
You look at your best friend and nodded.
'Where are you and your girlfriend going Y/L?' Draco smirked while you past.
You kept walking. Staring at the floor, hoping that he'd stop. But instead he just followed you two.
'Oh so you're deaf now?' He asked and you heard some Slytherins laugh.
You took a deep breath and turned a corner without answering. He only targeted you. Not even your friend. Just you. It was unfair.
'Deaf and mute.. and scared of boys. You have some problems don't you.' He laughed. 'Well not that we didn't expect that. It's written all over you: troubled.' He grinned.
You sat down at the table besides your friend. Harry heard everything and glanced at you.
'Basically useless.' Draco laughed.
You could feel tears stinging in your eyes bit you didn't want to let him know that.
'Don't you think that about yourself too? Or am I wrong?' He asked you while placing his hand on your shoulder.
You slapped his hand away and got up. You walked out of the great hall. Tears were streaming down your face. You made your way to the lake. You sat down underneath a tree, pulled your legs up and laid your head on them.
What you didn't know was that Harry followed you out. He saw you sitting there on your own. He slowly approached you. Not sure if you want his help.
'Y/N?' He asked.
You quickly wiped your tears away but knew that he could see you had been crying. You looked up at him. You weren't sure how to talk to him.
'Yeah?' You asked him.
'Are you okay?' He asked you.
He looked worried. Not that helped much.
'I'm fine.' You just said.
'Of course.. everyone cries when they feel happy, right?' He asked with a bit of sarcasm.
'It's fine. Nothing you should worry about.'
'You know. Malfoy is a dick. Don't let what he says get to you. You're not worthless, he's the one who's worthless. If you take away all his money he literally has nothing else. If anyone's worthless it's him.'
You smiled at him. He actually made you feel better.
'Why does he say that kind off stuff to me then? Shouldn't be be pushed around with that?'
'Because Draco decides to push his insecurity onto other people. He sucks. He does the same to me. Only I strike back.'
You sighed and looked at the grass. You knew you had to strike back but you couldn't. You were too shy and nothing you did could make him stop. If you didn't talk you were mute and if you did talk he'd make fun of your voice because you never spoke much to him. If you ignored him your were deaf but if you listened to him you were a chicken for not responding.
'He will always find a way to get into your head. Nothing you do is right. I get that. But you can't let him get to you like that.'
'It's not that easy Harry. You always know what to say. I never do. When he started screaming at me everything just goes blank and all in thinking is: get the hell out of here.'
'Then I'll help you.'
'What?'
'I'll help you. I'll defend you.'
You looked at him in surprise.
'Really?'
'Of course. Anything I can do to make him shut up.'
You smiled.
'Okay. Deal.'
Harry offered you his hand. He helped you up.
'Lets go back.'
You nodded and followed him out.
