"-and then Naomi tripped over the setup Nattie created, oh Maddie I so wish you had seen it." I looked down the corridor noticing Tye walking down in a pair of baggy black shorts, and his white vest tucked into them. I don't know what he had done, but his abs were looking incredible. "Maddie!"
"Sorry." I turned back around to Carmella who stared at me, her smile dropping.
"You weren't even listening to what I was saying." It was true, I'd zoned out ages ago, switching off to what she was saying and focusing instead on Tye.
"I was," I lied, trying to convince her otherwise.
"Alright, in that case, what was I saying?" I grimaced, knowing I'd only dug myself into an even bigger hole. Although he didn't know it, Tye was one of the most important people in my life. He wasn't just a work colleague, he was my best friend, and whenever he was around he had my undivided attention.
"Alright, I'm sorry, I'm just a little tired that's all, I can't focus right now." She scoffed making me turn back around to look at her. She had a huge smirk on her face, shaking her head.
"Now be honest with me, what was so important that you weren't listening to me, I can imagine what it was, in fact I'm pretty sure I know what it was." I continued to stare over at her, watching her adjust the cap on her head, giving me a knowing look.
"Fine, I just couldn't help myself okay." She lightly hit my bicep, falling back and giggling. "Don't be like that, I'm just being stupid, he'd never like me, I'm just being stupid.
"Maddie, don't think so lowly of yourself, how do you know if Tye doesn't like you, the two of you are the best of friends, who's not to say there could be more." I shook my head, turning away and placing my head in my hands.
"That's the problem, we're the best of friends, if I dared do anything that could all come crashing down, I don't want that to happen." I heard her sigh, and wrap her arm around me, running her hand up and down my back.
"We'll get you there eventually, you'll see. Sometimes it just takes a bit of bravery, go up to him, take a deep breath and let it all come out." I looked back up, knowing I probably had a few red marks around my eyes by now.
"Are you crazy!" I exclaimed, but she looked at me clueless. "How can I ever tell him how I feel, have you even been listening to me, I can't do it. I'm scared." Her shoulders drop as she let out another heavy smile.
"Maddie, don't give up on him, you don't know how people are feeling." I jumped off so I was back on my feet, grabbing my things.
"I don't know, I just know I want to be alone right now." She nodded, letting me walk away, out of sight so I had some time to myself.
Since the very first day I walked through a set of WWE doors for the first time, Tye was the one with the huge smile greeting me. He made me feel warm and welcomed, like I'd been there for years. Whilst everyone else judged me, Tye gladly showed me around, introduced me to others, and helped teach me the ropes.
Ever since that day he'd been by my side. "You alright Maddie?" "Do you need any help Maddie?" "You still here Maddie?" He was always looking out for me, taking my best interest all the time.
I'd spent the whole evening by myself until it was kicking out time to turn the lights off. I didn't want to see anyone, be near anyone, hear anyone. Nothing.
I was always that girl who loved the peace and quiet, the chance to chill out for a while without being surrounded by gossip and nosey people.
Along the corridor I could see a burly guy walking around dressed in a black suit, a security badge along his right pectoral. I hoped down before he had the chance to tell me otherwise, walking towards the exit.
"Maddie?" I looked back and saw Tye walking over, trudging his case behind him. "I haven't seen you all night, how are you?" He flashed me a huge smile, speeding his pace up until we were walking side by side.
"I'm good," I whispered, looking down at the ground. "Yourself?"
"Yeah, it's been a good night." My legs couldn't have carried me fast enough, spotting my car and heading straight for it. "Maddie, are you sure you're alright." I took a long pause, dredging it out until we got to two cars before mine.
"Yeah, look this is me." He stopped and turned around, sympathetically smiling at me. "I'll see you later." I waved to him, unlocking the car, hopping straight in.
Once I was back at the hotel, my phone buzzed in my back pocket, strange timing before. It was a text from Carmella, her and Maryse wanted to meet up for lunch tomorrow before we headed out on our travels. It wasn't strange to be sent such invitations and late evenings, the three of us were prone to making late arrangements.
I'd tidied my appearance up after getting out of bed at an unreasonable hour, heading to the restaurant they'd told us to head to. I walked in, looking around, seeing Tye sat at one of the tables. We both stared at each other, shaking our heads.
He stood up, waving me over as we sat back down opposite each other. "Why do I get the feeling I know what is going on here?" It had the girls written all over it, especially after yesterday.
"I'm not entirely sure, but I think I can imagine what's is going on." I pulled my phone out, feeling it vibrate in my hand. Another text from Carmella.
"You're welcome," I read out, shaking my head. "Looks like we've been set up." I couldn't help but feel a horrible feeling in my stomach, fearful as to what was happening, but I had to keep the smile on my face for Tye's sake.
"I mean I have a lot of thoughts right now, but the first one is why would they bring us to such a terrible place." He was completely right, the place was weird. Unfinished furniture, a lack of customers, and a waitress with about three teeth in her mouth.
"I agree, maybe we should head out somewhere else." He nodded, standing up from his chair and grabbing his phone. He led me in front of him towards the door, as I opened it for us both and left. "So, where should we go now?" We both looked around looking for a place that stood out to us.
"I'm not sure, but I think we should just do whatever, a walk, something casual, see what happens." I smiled, loving the idea.
"Yeah, lets just take a stroll." He pointed left, leading the way, stretching back and grabbing onto my hand, keeping me beside him.
"This is our way, the best way," he told me, smiling down at me. His panther tattoo was level with my head, I'd never been so close to it, or able to admire the detail of it. "I think the girls could be onto something here," he whispered creating the butterfly feeling in my stomach.
"Yeah, but we can't tell them that," I teased, giggling as he nodded his head, pulling me down a random street, as we began our afternoon stroll.
