I walked over to the mirror, fixing up my plaited hair for the evening's show. I slid my clips back in, tucking the small pieces of baby hair that fell in front of my ears back so they weren't stuck out. I took a couple of paces back, straightening my gear out, getting rid of any creases.
"You look beautiful by the way." I turned around seeing Tyler smiling over at me. I blushed lightly as the corners of his mouth, that weren't hidden by his facial hair, turned up.
"Thanks Tyler," I grinned, running my hand up and down my other arm, a nervous habit I had developed over time.
"I only speak the truth madam." His thick Birmingham accent had me completely hooked, his voice was so deep and sent a cold shiver down my spine. It was rare to see him actually smiling, he normally looked so plain and bored, but I couldn't help but wish I got the chance to see that smile a little more.
"Jess, you're up." I saw Mark walking over to me, ready to usher me towards the ring. I sighed, smiling back at Tyler.
"Good luck," he whispered, running his hand through his blonde quiff. His hair bounced back into position, creating a fluffly mess on the top of his head. I quickly noticed a few curls that he wasn't able to straighten making an appearance.
"Thank you," I said to him once again, slightly waving and then walking back up the corridor alongside Mark.
"You two seem cosy." I scoffed over at Mark, who looked at me raising his eyebrows. "He had that look in his eye."
"How would you know what the look is?" He smirked unable to come back at me with a reply, silencing himself for the rest of the walk.
I didn't know why, but I just couldn't get Tyler out of my mind, holding onto our first piece of conversation like it was the most treausred thing on the planet. I hadn't even noticed I'd got to the holding spot when a hand reached out in front of me, halting me quickly. "Sorry," I murmured hearing the ending beats of Charlotte's theme. I took a deep breath, telling myself over and over again to think about the ring and the job at hand as my theme played.
I skipped down the ramp only to be met by a Tyler Bate sign in the front row. I sighed shaking it out of my head, looking down at Charlotte who stood waiting for me.
I ran in and suplexed her straight away, watching her blonde hair flip backwards with her. As my back hit the ground I caught a glimpse of it right beside me, noticing the similar shade to Tyler's. I had no clue what the quiet and innocent boy had done to me in a matter of minutes.
I closed the match out as quickly as possible whilst I still had the slightest bit of focus on what I was doing. I walked up the ramp, desperate to get away and go to the hotel room in the hopes of escaping reality for a short while.
I walked down and headed to my locker room, desperate to leave as soon as possible. "Jess." I turned around trying to hide the huge smile that appeared. I knew the voice from a mile away, spinning around and seeing Tyler stood looking at me. He didn't look happy, but he didn't look sad, I didn't know what was going on in that mind of his. "Congrats on the win, you were awesome."
"Thank you." Those two words seemed to be the only things I uttered to Tyler as he paid me compliment after compliment. I stood looking to him for the next conversation starter, but he just stared blankly at me. "I need to get going." I turned back around to walk down to my locker when I heard him say my name again. "Yes?" I questioned, waiting in a small bit of anticipation.
"Can we talk?" For the first time I heard the slightest bit of weakness in his voice, which worried me a little. I nodded watching him walk back down the corridor as I followed behind him.
He stopped at his locker room, opening the door up and inviting me in first. I smiled taking a seat watching him sit beside me. "It's really hard for me to tell people what I'm feeling, so just bare with me." I nodded, sitting back in my seat, allowing him to take as much time as he needed. "I know you don't really know me, but, I've...I've kind of had something I've wanted to tell you."
"Tyler, take your time." I couldn't help but feel terribly for him as he stuttered his way through his sentence. I never realised how much he struggled to talk about how he felt, or how he could express himself. I didn't know if maybe it was a British thing, but it hurt watching his struggle.
"I need to do this Jess." I nodded, leaning forwards and taking a hold of his hand. He smiled to himself, looking down at our intertwined hands. "I really like you, and think you are a terrific girl, a proper cracker." I tried to hold back the little blush I could feel developing, trying to play it a little cool in front of Tyler. What I hadn't noticed before was that he now had a pair of glasses propped up on the bridge of his nose, only adding to the British charm I found myself enchanted with. "Would you maybe...if you want to that is...be my girlfriend?"
"Of course I would." He slowly smiled over at me, leaning over and wrapping his arms around me. I smiled back, even though he couldn't see it, holding him tightly. I knew how hard it was for him to say that, mainly by the big sigh he breathed out on my neck making me giggle. "You're adorable," I whispered into his ear making his grip tighten around me. He pulled back slightly kissing my cheek, brushing his hair once again, making sure it looked absolutely perfect.
