You walked alongside Niall, your hand brushing against his occasionally as you strolled down the street. You looked ahead at the pretty autumn colors of the trees and the leaves that crunched beneath your feet and a smile crept onto your face. While you closed your eyes and inhaled the scent of the season around you, Niall hummed to himself and watched his footsteps.
“Aren’t you cold?” He finally asked, referring to your knee-length dress that you were wearing.
You grinned and shook your head. “I’m fine,” You giggled, noticing his over-sized sweater that he was wrapped up in. “But you’re cold, aren’t you?”
Niall faked a surprised expression and hesitantly shook his head. “No, of course not,” He said from the corner of his lips.
You threw your head back and laughed. “Niall,” You looked at him. “Being cold isn’t going to make you less manly, trust me.”
You giggled as he blushed. “Okay maybe I am a bit chilly but that doesn’t mean anyth-” He started, but was interrupted by you grabbing his arm.
“If you’re cold, then we’re going home,” You declared, giving him no chance to protest as you directed him back toward your shared home.
You led the way back to your house, never letting your hand leave his arm while you pushed yourself through the door, holding it open for him to follow after you. You let go of Niall and made your way toward the kitchen. You pulled out two mugs and a couple packets of hot chocolate mix.
“Sweetheart,” Niall smiled, kissing your forehead. “You’re so sweet. I’ll have marshmallows, please.”
You rolled your eyes and chuckled as you lightly pushed Niall away. “Give me my space and I’ll see what I can do,” You winked, reaching for a bag of mini marshmallows.
He pulled his sweater over his head and tugged a t-shirt on instead, feeling the warmth of the house. Sliding out of his shoes, he pulled his socks up and changed into a pair of sweatpants rather than the jeans he was wearing before. Pulling a beanie onto his head, he wandered out to you.
“Look at you,” You nodded. “Looking all cuddly.”
He smirked, “I know you like this beanie.”
You blushed and turned away to finish mixing the hot chocolates. You topped them off with a swirl of whipped cream and a couple mini marshmallows. Taking the mugs into your hands, you headed for Niall, carefully handing him a mug.
His face lit up and he took the mug from you, smiling as he inhaled the scent of the chocolate. “Thank you, angel,” He commented, softly sipping from the mug.
You nodded, sipping from your own cup. You curled up next to Niall and rested your head on his shoulder, wrapping your hands around the mug in attempt to keep warm. He sang softly to himself and you swayed to the sound of his voice.
“Remember that one day that we were painting the house and we got into a paint war and you ended up covered in red while I was spotless?” Niall smirked, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Don’t remind me,” You laughed.
“And what about the time is was snowing outside and there was ice on the sidewalk and you slipped on it and I laughed at you for an hour straight but then I slipped myself?” Niall’s smile soon fell when he remembered the pain he was in after slipping on that ice.
“Are you like reminiscing or something?” You giggled, reaching for his hand. His hand gladly knotted with yours as you sat there and thought of something to say. “Since we’re on a roll here, how about the day that your mom walked in on you trying to kiss me for the first time?” You smirked.
Niall’s face flushed a red color and a small chuckle slipped from his lips. “Yeah, I remember that.”
“Hey, Lauren?” Niall nudged your side with his elbow and your eyes locked on his.
“Yes, Niall?”
“I love you,” He smiled sweetly and pressed another soft kiss to your forehead.
“I love you too, Nialler,” You brushed your nose against his and cuddled closer to him, enjoying the moment.
