You wandered around the store, occasionally stopping to search through a rack. You were beginning to feel stressed, as you still hadn’t found anything. You were in desperate need of an outfit for your friend’s birthday party later that evening. You’d already been to three other stores, and you promised yourself that this would be your last stop.

You groaned as your shoulders fell in frustration. You were whisking through a rack of party dresses when you felt a tap on your shoulder. Turning around sharply, you were prepared to snap when your eyes landed on a boy with a particularly warming smile. Your eyebrows knitted together and you folded your arms over your chest.

“Did you just touch me?” You spat, sounding a bit harsher than you had intended.

“I did,” The boy said. He wore jeans that were somewhat tight and a white t-shirt with the design of an acoustic guitar on it. His spotless shoes hung loosely on his feet, as if they were too big for him. “I was just wonderin’ if you’re alright? You seem a bit frustrated.”

His accent rolled off of his tongue, sounding sweet to your ears. His eyes pierced into you, drawing you in before you could even ask his name. “I guess I am a little frustrated,” You admitted with a shrug. Your stare traveled to the floor, where you caught sight of his shoes again.

“Why?” He inquired, leaning against the rack of pants that stood next to him.

“I’d love to talk, but I don’t have the time,” You said, turning around to face the rack of dresses again. Your irritation that had temporarily subsided was now rushing back to you. You were so short on time, as the party was going to start in only hours, and you were still lacking an appropriate outfit. You were considering just leaving the store and settling on a pair of jeans and a top from your own wardrobe.

“If it matters any to you,” The boy’s distinct voice captured your attention as he tapped you on your shoulder again. “I think this would be perfect for you.”

You spun around, and he was still smiling. He held up a black dress with a sweetheart neckline and a silver-colored bow tied around the waist. You gasped, reaching out for the dress. With a chuckle, he let the dress fall into your grip, and a satisfied grin spread across your features.

“Where did you find this?” You asked him, a sigh of relief sweeping through you.

He pointed to a corner of the store, and you hurried in that direction. You were able to successfully find the exact same dress in your size. The boy had followed you, and he was now tapping his fingers on the sides of his jeans as he stood beside you.

“Could you do one other thing for me?” You grabbed his hand and led him to the fitting rooms.

His eyes widened, and he hesitated. “I, uh, I can’t go in there with you,” He stumbled over his words.

“No, silly,” You shook your head. “I want you to wait out here and give me your opinion once I try this on. It’s for my friend’s birthday party.”

He let out a deep breath and nodded, pushing his nerves to the side. Your hand slipped from his and you quickly found an empty room to change in. While you fit yourself into the dress, he waited patiently outside. His tongue swiped along his lips as he let his eyes wander around the store. The place wasn’t very busy, and quiet music was playing throughout the store. He lost himself while trying to identify which song was playing when you cleared your throat, stealing his attention.

His eyes scanned over your figure, and you could feel a heat rise to your face. His words were caught in his throat, so he gave you a thumbs-up of approval. He shifted on his feet but his eyes were still glued to you.

“So…it’s good?” You asked, crossing your fingers at your side.

“Yes, yes. Absolutely,” He stuttered when he spoke, and you giggled. You squealed excitedly before proceeding to change into the clothes that you came in.

“Listen, you don’t even know how much you helped me today,” You said to the boy. He was still next to you as you carried the dress to the check-out line. “Thank you so much.”

He nodded and pulled his wallet from the back pocket of his jeans. “No problem. The name is Niall, by the way,” He said. You responded by telling him your own name, as well. You then set the dress on the counter, ready to pay for it, when Niall stepped in front of you. “Let me,” He insisted as he handed the clerk enough money to pay for the dress.

“I suppose I should at least give you my phone number now,” You smirked, and he raised an eyebrow.

“That would be very kind of you,” He said, holding out his phone for you to take. You both laughed while you typed your number into his phone. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to need a date for that party, would you?” His eyes met with yours and you grabbed his hand, once again. Except this time, you were in no hurry to let go as you brought him out of the store with you.

**You wanted something cute, so I hope this meets your idea of cute haha! :)**
