Sneaky

You rolled onto your back, holding your book above your head. The words on the pages were looking more and more foreign the longer you tried to understand them. Your eyelids were growing heavy from pure exhaustion, and of course, attempting to read a painfully boring novel wasn’t heling any. You felt as if you’d been up for hours doing homework, when in reality, it wasn’t even past midnight yet. But you had class early the next morning, and a few hours of sleep in between there would have been very nice. However, you wouldn’t allow yourself any sleep until you were finished with this reading assignment.

A groan left your lips as the book slipped out of your weak grip and fell on top of you. You were so tired that you began to laugh at how pathetic your situation was. This is miserable, you thought, I can’t even hold the book up anymore. You covered your face with your hands as a few more tired giggles left your mouth. You were taken by surprise, however, when you heard a knock on your door. You figured it was just your roommate, but that wouldn’t have made a lot of sense, because your roommate had a key and could easily let herself in without knocking. You rolled off of your bed and brought yourself to your feet, sleepily wobbling toward the door. You shook your head, in an attempt to wake yourself up a bit more, before wrapping your hand around the doorknob and giving it a strong tug until the creaky door opened.

Your eyes widened and your body went stiff when the door opened to reveal Niall, from your English class, standing behind it. You peeked out in the hallway, to see that no one was watching, before you grabbed his shirt and pulled him into your dorm, slamming the door shut after him. “What are you doing here?!” You spat at him, worried that someone might have seen him come in. Boys weren’t really allowed in the girl’s dorms. You and him could have both gotten in a lot of trouble if he was caught sneaking around your dorm.

“You’re not happy to see me?” He joked, faking as if he was offended. He found a seat on the edge of your bed and let his eyes scan around your shared space. It was a small room; neither you nor your roommate were allowed a lot of space for your stuff. You ended up sharing a lot of things, simply because there just wasn’t enough room for it all. It was obvious to Niall that two girls shared that space. There were clothes all over the place, random makeup products were scattered around, and the air smelled of a mixture of perfumes. On top of that, all of your books were sprawled across the bed—nothing seemed to be too orderly, but then again, he couldn’t say his dorm room looked any better.

He brought his eyes back to you and grinned a little before scooting over on your bed, clearing a space for you to sit. He patted the now empty spot next to him, as if inviting you to have a seat on your own bed. You accepted the invitation, nonetheless, and sunk in next to him. He leaned back on one arm and placed his other arm in his lap, never letting his eyes leave you. “You left class today before I could even say ‘hi’ to you,” Niall said with a pout.

“Is that why you’re here?” You squeaked, in disbelief. You were sure that if he was going to sneak around and risk getting caught, he’d at least have a good reason for it.

He giggled and innocently shrugged. You rolled your eyes and looked away. You were partly irritated because you actually had things to do. As much as you liked Niall, you felt as if your homework was more important. You jumped a little, slightly startled, when you felt Niall gently stroking your arm. You turned back toward him with furrowed eyebrows. As his eyes searched yours, he whispered, “Are you okay?”

You were silent. Sure, you had an answer to his question. But somehow, you were struggling to find it. Your words weren’t coming to you, and the only thing you felt you could do was stare back at him in silence. His lips curled into a soft smile and his eyes dropped to your lips before he slowly leaned in and pressed his lips to yours. The most surprising thing was that there wasn’t a moment of hesitation for neither you nor Niall. You didn’t even stop to question the moment, but instead let your lips move with his. You felt his smile against your lips. As seconds continued to pass, the moment intensified. It wasn’t long before your hands were running through his hair and his hands had found a place behind your head, locking you in your spot. You were crawling onto his lap, feeling his moans against your mouth, when the door unlocked and swung open.

A gasp followed by a laugh left your roommate, whom was standing in the doorway. You immediately pulled away from Niall, bringing yourself to your feet. He giggled from behind you, but there was a deep blush on his face. Your roommate grinned and as she turned around, said, “Don’t let me get in the way of your fun! I’ll just come back later.”
