You furrowed your eyebrows as you flipped around in bed to see the hallway light on. And you were lying by yourself. Forcing yourself to sit up, you yawned and stretched your arms out. The house was dark and silent but the fact that Niall wasn't in bed had you worried that maybe something had happened to your newborn. The new baby had both of you on edge, non-stop. The smallest of things worried you. Is this light too bright for her? Maybe you should turn the TV down. I don't want her ears to be damaged from the noise. She just sneezed twice in twenty minutes, I hope she isn't sick. Do you think this formula tastes good? I hope it does. I wouldn't want her to be forced into drinking something that doesn't taste good. Why are her eyes closed? Is she sleeping? Oh my god, is she still breathing?!  You and Niall had nearly driven yourselves insane with all of your concerns. Sleep was hardly even an option for you two anymore, because you couldn't help but worry about your baby. Is she sleeping well? Maybe she's not sleeping at all? Maybe one of us should be in there with her? And then either you or Niall would crawl out of bed and check on her, just to see that she was indeed sleeping just fine on her own.

So, you sleepily stepped out into the hallway, to see that the baby's room was open and a lamp was turned on inside. Peeking around the door frame, you breathed a sigh of relief when you spotted Niall sitting in the rocking chair, cradling your baby. She was safe, thank goodness. Instead of interrupting, or even heading back to bed, you stood in your spot and admired the moment as silently as you could.

He was stroking her head, rocking back and forth, and whispering to her. "I'm gonna do everything I can," He whispered, pausing to inhale a strong breath. His voice was shaky is if he was crying while he continued, "I'm gonna do everything I can to be the best daddy for you. No thing and no person will ever hurt you. If someone starts givin' you problems, just tell 'em, 'My daddy will beat the crap out of you. And he knows karate.' I don't know karate, actually, but I'll learn for you. That way nobody can hurt you or Mommy." She kicked her legs a little and a smile spread across her face, melting your heart, even from where you stood in the doorway. Niall giggled and tickled her nose, whispering, "I'm gonna have to bring you home some time. I bet you'd love Ireland. Because I do, and I can already tell that you're gonna be a daddy's girl." She continued to smile and he leaned in closer to whisper, "Shh, don't tell Mommy."

He yawned, because he really was exhausted, but he didn't want to leave his little girl. He took her tiny hand in his and felt her little fingers. "You're so tiny!" He laughed, "I must look like a giant to you. But don't worry, I'm a nice giant. I won't ever, ever hurt you." She reached up and her fingers stroked over Niall's eyes. "Okay!" He laughed, "Those would be daddy's eyes. Be careful with those, sweetheart. I can't see your pretty little face without them!" Her mouth opened and she looked as if she could've said something then, but didn't have the words to. She stared up at Niall's eyes in awe and reached out to touch them again, but he ducked away. What the hell?!  He thought, my own kid's tryin' to poke my eyes out!

Chuckling softly from the door, you finally spoke up, "It's the color, Niall. The bright blue in your eyes is fascinating to her."

"You think so?" He asked, looking down at his baby. She smiled and grabbed his nose, wrapping her little fingers around the tip of it while she continued to stare into Niall's eyes. "Oh god, now she's got my nose," He said in a nasally voice, because she was unintentionally pinching his nose with her fingers.

You laughed and finally entered the room to sit on the footrest by Niall. "Didn't you read the baby book that Denise gave us?!" You questioned, "She's touching you and staring in your eyes because she loves you. It's a sign of affection, Niall. She can't get enough of you!" You laughed again and Niall's eyes flickered up to meet yours. You shyly dropped your eyes and mumbled, "But, then again, neither can I."

Niall smiled and moved the baby so that her face was pressed to his chest and his hands were supporting her back and the back of her head. He pressed his lips to the side of her face before moving his eyes to you, staring at you as if he had just laid his eyes on you for the first time. You felt yourself blushing and avoiding his gaze. "I have the best family ever," He suddenly said, patting his baby's back.

"Thank you, (Y/N)," He said, earning your full attention. What did he have to thank you for? "Thank you for everything you've done. I mean, look at my life. It's more perfect now than it's ever been before. I live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood with the most lovely woman and the sweetest baby girl ever. Honestly, there really isn't anything more I could want. I feel complete, ya know?"

"Yeah," You gently smiled, "I know." You knew, because you'd been feeling complete ever since you'd been with Niall.

Niall scooted to the edge of the rocking chair and lifted your baby into the air. Standing, he gently placed her in her crib and you watched while he tucked her in. He stroked her forehead and smiled down at her, saying, "I love you."

"She loves you, too," You said as you stood next to him, placing your hand over his. "So do I."

He pressed his lips to yours for a quick kiss, whispering, "Mm, I love you too, babe."

He twirled you around, earning a few giggles from you, before leading you toward the door, pausing only to wave to your baby and blow her a few kisses.
