Sky

"Good morning beautiful," was the first thing I heard when I woke up in the morning. I wasn't the biggest morning person so it took a while to remember anything from the day before. The last thing I remembered was being super drunk and eating a sandwich with Dan. My head was hurting, but I didn't want to worry Dan. "Good morning Cutie," I retorted while grinning. Dan groaned and pouted at me. "You're never going to stop calling me that are you? He joked. I pretended to be thinking as I tapped my chin with my index finger. "If you kiss me, then we'll see," I kidded and he pecked me on the lips. "Nope, I think I'll just keep calling you Cutie," I smiled as his face palmed himself. "Fine, you win, but only because I love you," he said seriously but I saw his lip twitch. "I love you too, but I'm going to call you Cutie no matter what happens." Dan groaned and got out of the bed.

I noticed that he only had his boxers on and I remembered him getting undressed. Slowly the memories of the night before were getting to me. I remembered having my pajamas on, but they were folded at the end of my bed. My face warmed up when I remembered the rest of it. I shuffled over on the bed a bit so I could sit up, but I felt a bit tender down there, but I had already figured out why. I was so shocked that I couldn't make a sound. I felt my headache getting stronger. The feeling of guilt was also beginning to upsurge.

Does he even know how old I am? I shook my head, which didn't help the headache. Of course he does, we've been together for over two months, but I was going to talk to him about it either way.

Even if Dan didn't know, he didn't take advantage of me. I was the one that made the first move. Why must alcohol make me such a bold person? I'm just glad that nothing went wrong. The condom didn't break, I'm on birth control and Dan was great at controlling himself. I felt a blush creeping onto my face. Last night had to be the best night of my life. Even if I was still a bit drunk, I remembered every detail perfectly. It was totally worth it. I quickly put clothes on and went towards the kitchen to take two Advil's for my headache. I heard the sound of a toilette flushing from the hallway bathroom so I decided to start making breakfast.

"Stop!" Dan exclaimed running towards me before he closed the fridges door. I looked at him up and down as if he were a mad man. "Let me make breakfast today." Dan ended up making delicious pancakes. He even made them heart shaped and added a dash of cinnamon, which was absolutely delicious. Halfway into my meal I remembered that I wanted to have a talk with Dan. "Hey," I said to get his attention. Dan finished his sip of coffee and wiped his mouth. "Yeah?" I cracked my knuckles. "So, I just wanted to make sure that we're on the same page here. Are you ok with everything that happened last night? Are you ok with our relationship? I know I'm a couple of years younger and everything, but we never really talk about age and school and work so," Dan put a finger on my lips to silence me.

"Sky, of course I'm ok with everything. If anything I should be asking you if you're ok with it. From my understanding we're dating, we love each other and we're comfortable with each other. I don't care about age and all of that boring stuff. So what? You're still in school and

I'm about to start my first real job. It doesn't matter. It's natural that you're younger than me and most importantly it's obviously legal." I nodded at him. "Yeah, I guess. I just wanted to make sure that we were on the same page." My phone dinged signaling that I had a text. I didn't text anyone other than Avery so I didn't even have to guess.

~ Ooh la la, looks like someone used my little surprise last night. Tell me all about it when I see you! ~

I groaned, which made Dan look at me weirdly. I showed him the text and he immediately turned pink. "When did she get in?" He asked me. I shook my head. "She probably passed by this morning and checked inside of the room. She's sneaky that way." Dan nodded, but before we returned to eating we were interrupted. "That's right! You didn't even realize that I'm still here," Avery ran by and out of the apartment before either of us could say anything. Dan and I looked at each other and laughed. He leaned across the table to kiss me when my phone started ringing. Dan groaned.

"You know, phones aren't really that necessary," he grumbled and I laughed before picking up. "Hey Mom... Everything's great. What about with you?" I listened to my mother invite Dan and myself to dinner to give her and my dad a chance to properly meet him before my dad leaves for work.

"I'll be sure to ask him. What time? 7:30? All right, sounds great. I'll see you later. Love you. Bye" I hung up and looked at Dan. "My mom wants you to come over for dinner tonight so you can meet my dad and he can say bye to me for the next few months." Dan smiled before speaking "I'd love to, what time should I pick you up at?" "7:00 should be fine. I have to warn you—my dad is a bit protective of me and might seem a bit crazy, but I swear he's not that bad," I warned him and took one of my last bites. "I'll keep that in mind," Dan said in fake horror causing me to giggle a bit. Soon after Dan headed back to his own place.

Dan

As soon as I got home I scolded Luke for what he'd done. He found the situation amusing and went to his room to call one of his regular hook ups. I made my way to the office to double check that everything that I would need on Tuesday was in order. It's my first year working as a legitimate teacher. Hopefully I don't embarrass myself in front of my students. I had experience working as a teacher's assistant in University and working with actual grade school and high school teachers, but I've never been in charge on my own class.

I felt more relaxed that I had the conversation with Sky, though I didn't end up telling her what my exact job is. Heck, I don't even know if she's studying at the University of Toronto or at one of the other three universities in the city. All I know for sure is that she's a senior in the city. Next year she'll probably be getting a job of her own or going straight into medical school if she decides on it. That's a part of the reason that I haven't mentioned being a teacher yet. I feel so inferior to her. She'll find out soon though. She's probably going to ask me about my day or my week and I'll let her know everything.

I spent most of the afternoon reading and getting ready for dinner. I wanted to make a good impression, but I wanted to be myself. Sky had assured me that I wouldn't have to do anything special to impress them, but I wasn't sure. I thought about how it would be once Sky met my parents and shuddered. They'd embarrass me, but I guess that's what parents do best.

While I was showering, I practiced answers for the questions I imagined being asked. I had just turned 23 two months ago, my birthday is the same day as Sky's, I just graduated university with honors, I am three quarters Canadian since my mother is half Brazilian on her mothers side, I live with my best friend Luke, I love travelling, and the list kept going on. If I practiced them all I would be late, and I really don't want to be late.

I said bye to Luke and headed out. I drove straight to the flower shop and grabbed two different bouquets–one with pink roses, and another with red for Mrs. Evans. I picked Sky up half an hour before we were supposed to be at her parent's house. "Hey cutie," she greeted me. Out of all of the other things she could call me... "Hey beautiful," I said smiling with no indication that the word "cutie" bothered me. Sky pouted. "You don't mind me calling you cutie right... cutie?" she smirked. "Nope," I said popping the P, and kissing her on the cheek. I heard her mumble something in annoyance under her breath as she got into the car. "These are for you," I handed her the bouquet of pink roses. "And those are for your mom," I nodded towards the red roses. "I love them and so will my mom," she said smiling.

I remembered the way, which was good since the GPS had run out of battery since it's solar powered and I had it stuffed in the glove box. When we arrived I made sure to park carefully so I wouldn't make her parents think I'm a bad driver, weird... I know.

"Sky! Dan! How are you two? Did you both get taller?" Mrs. Evans exclaimed as she ran towards us in excitement. I couldn't help but chuckle as Sky hugged her and sent me an apologetic look. "I'm great mom. No, I didn't get taller. Go ambush Dan now!" Mrs. Evans quickly let go of Sky and pounced on me. "Hey Ellie, I'm doing great. And I don't think I got taller. You look great!" I said as she let go of me and straightened out her dress. "Come in! You need to meet my husband!" I gulped since I was a bit scared to meet Sky's dad. When Ellie started walking inside, Sky pulled my face down to hers and kissed me, which instantly made me calm down. "Don't worry," she whispered, "he'll love you." I opened the car door and took out the flower bouquets and followed Sky inside.

"Daddy!" Sky ran towards her dad and gave him a huge hug. He chuckled and squeezed her tightly. After a brief moment he let her down and focused on me. "Why hello young man. You must be Dan." I cleared my throat and made sure I was standing up with proper posture. "Yes, and you must be Mr. Evans. It's a pleasure to meet you." I stuck out my hand to shake his. He glared at me and then shook my hand, almost crushing it in the process. "Like wise," he muttered as he stalked towards the kitchen. "Oh I'm so excited to finally get to know you better Dan!" Ellie exclaimed once again from behind me, giving me a miniature heart attack. I heard Sky giggling from the other side of the room as she followed her father into the kitchen.

~~~
"Wait, so your mom is half Brazilian and half Canadian and your dad is completely Canadian?" Ellie asked for the fourth time. "Yup," I answered smiling, even though I was starting to get annoyed, but I would never show it. "So she came to Canada when she was 18, met your father during university, and they got married after 3 years?" "Exactly," I answered cheerfully. She finally remembered! "Ooh! Maybe you and Sky will have your honeymoon there!" Sky coughed and began to blush. "Mom! We're dating, not engaged!" I couldn't help but laugh. "You find my daughters embarrassment funny?" Mr. Evans glared at me. "I... um no I just-" Mr. Evans put his napkin down and cracked his knuckles.
"You just what? You enjoy pain in others? You plan on breaking my little girls heart?" He spat at me, which made me want to melt into the chair. "No sir, I would never intentionally hurt your daughter. I care about her way too much," I said honestly but seriously enough for him to understand. "Either way, you're way to old for her," he said angrily. His face was turning red and I swear that if this weren't real life, he would have steam coming out of his ears.
"Daddy, stop it!" Sky exclaimed angrily, but still in a calm tone. "Dear, she's only a couple of years younger than Dan! Plus, their birthdays are on the same day." Oh, so she remembers that? A couple of years is nothing. It's literally two years and she's been a legal adult for a while now. The table suddenly went quiet. I looked over at Sky and she was turning red and her lips were quivering. I really don't want to see her cry. Laughter was the last thing that I heard come out of Sky's mouth before her dad started laughing too.
"You do know I'm just kidding, right?" Mr. Evans said which I was still sitting there really confused. "Kidding?" I croaked out in fear. "Yup, it was all just an act. He already approves of you." Sky said while laughing hysterically. "And I think you've passed the test." said Ellie, who was looking at Mr. Evans. I let out a long breath of relief and wiped the stress sweat from my forehead. "I'm not going to lie sir- you had me fearing for my life," I said sheepishly as I began to relax. "I know. You can call me John."
~~~

An hour after dinner had ended, Sky and I decided that we should head out. We both wanted to relax before I started work and before she started school. I gave Ellie a hug goodbye and I swear I heard her whisper something about pretty grandchildren after I pulled away. Sky was still hugging her dad as he told her much he would miss her and how much he loved her. When it was my turn to say goodbye to John I stuck out my hand, but he pulled me into a man hug.

"Please don't hurt Sky. I can tell that she loves you and she's never been this happy before. I know you care about her too. Just promise me that you will never intentionally hurt her," John whispered. "I promise you. I really do love her." I whispered back truthfully. We pulled away and nodded at each other as we headed towards the car. Sky was holding onto the flowers with a vase Ellie gave her so I opened the door for her. "Thank you again for the flowers! Have fun at work!" I heard Ellie yell before I started the engine and shot her a smile.

When we finally got back to sky's place, it was 10:00 and Avery still wasn't at home. "Are you sure you don't want to stay?" Sky asked with her puppy dog eyes. I thought about it before answering her. "I honestly want to, but if I do I won't be able to leave you tomorrow. I really need to make sure everything is in order." Sky pouted but then a glint appeared in her eyes and she ran her arms up my arm. "Are you sure you don't want to stay?" she whispered into my ear before nibbling on it, making a shiver run up my spine. "I really do want to," I gulped as she unbuttoned my shirt and ran her hands up my chest. I couldn't bring myself to stop her. She's just too damn sexy for her own good. I bit my lip as my pants began to feel tighter.

"I guess could stay for a bit, but I'll have to go home right after," I told her, trying to keep my voice steady. Sky smirked before pulling my shirt off completely and bringing my head down to kiss her. I picked her up and she instinctively wrapped her legs around my waist. I walked her into her room and closed the door behind me, all without breaking the kiss. Then I enjoyed the bliss that the next hour provided.
