After New Years, it was time to go back to school. Christmas break wasn't really all that. It was just the same as always, spent merry times with family and even international video chats from family in Japan. It was all nice, I even had a long promising break from school.
My friends wouldn't really contact me because they had their own fun times with their family. Mae spent hers with her family and even traveled out of Texas, Jenny spent hers going to Florida, the guys spent theirs in Texas with family, and Sam went on another trip out of the states with her family.
Back at school, I just placed my things on my seat and went straight to the heater to warm up. It was too chilly for me. Then I heard someone walking towards me from behind. I turned to see the person.
"Yo! Happy New Year Jade!"
"Happy New Year Chris!"
"Come closer... I have a belated Christmas present for ya~!" he said as he motioned me in for a whisper. As I came closer and gave him my ear, he then shifted his lips to my cheek and kissed it. It was so sudden that I moved away with my eyes widened. I was even speechless! But what shocked me the most was that I didn't scream 'Ew' at him nor scold him nor wipe away the kiss he left on my cheek. I was just frozen...
"If you kiss a girl on the cheek when you meet her again in the new year, you'll be friends forever..." he told me, as if explaining why he did it.
"Eh? Even if you didn't do that, we'd still be friends!" I say as I feel my cheeks heating up.
"I know! But I just wanted to give you a kiss as a present." he smiled warmly, which made me blush even more. I was still speechless, but I gave him a sour pout. "Now it's your turn to kiss my cheek~!"
I held my hand up to his face, "Sorry. But that's impossible." I say flat out.
"Eh??? No fair! No fair!" he whined and I just giggled at him in return.
"Sam might get jealous, you know!" I say pointing at him.
"Pfft! I'm not interested in girls anymore." he said.
Then I thought, "Huh? Not interested in girls anymore? Then what did that kiss mean?"

On break time, Chris came to keep me company while I was reading a novel while sitting on the floor. "Stand up for a moment." he asked of me.
"And why should I?" I raised a brow at him.
"C'mmon! It'll just take a second!"
"Fine..." I said lazily.
As I stood up and arched a brow at him, like asking 'what now?', he said cheekily, "Notice anything different?" he said looking down at me with a smirk.
"Huh? Different how?" I was confused. He then raised his hands and moved it horizontally above his head to mine. My eyes then widened. No way! No freakin' way! "You've grown an inch taller!!!"
"Yup! Now I'll be able to stare down at you more~!" he teased.
"No! But we were nearly the same height! And I swear I was taller than you before!"
"Tsk. Tsk. Reasons. Reasons. The truth is standing right before you, Jade..." he smiled cheekily. I got a little mad that he actually grew taller than me. "Don't worry... You've grown a little bigger too Jade!" he continued.
"Really? How?" I looked at him flatly.
"You're boobs~!"
"I knew it! You pervert!" I playfully punched his arm.
"Jade~! Let's play~!!!" Mae called out as she and Sam both approached us. Sam has finally gotten a little better, and is now talking to us.
I set aside my book and positioned myself on the floor, "Okay! What are we gonna play?" Chris also sat down next to me, and the other two followed. Instead of playing, we just started talking about the series we watched last night.
Chris then suddenly bent over to let his head rest on my shoulder. I tried to brush him off, but he's too stubborn, so I let him be. It didn't take him long until he got off my shoulder and quickly gave me a peck on the cheek. This time, I had to blurt out, "Chris! What the juice?!"
He just laughed at me! When I paid no attention to him, he kissed my shoulder this time. I had to give him a slap on the shoulder so that he'd finally understand. But, moments later, he poked the side of my chest, "Get outta here you perv!!!" I yelled as I shoved him aside, but grabbed a hold of Sam's butt before actually going away. Sam was startled though, and I spotted a little blush. It was cute!
"Sigh.... Chris is still as stubborn and as dodo brain as ever..." stated Mae.
"Yeah... Won't he like, be normal for once?" laughed Sam.
She was trying her best to act normal, I could tell her laugh was forced. But, I wanted us to always be the same as well, so I laughed and joked with them, "Yeah... He'll always have that weird attitude that we'll never get."

After lunch time today, Chris called out to me to sit next to him. I stood up to do so, because it sounded like he really wanted to talk about something. He then whispered to me, "Let's share secrets~!"
I face palmed. "Chris... You know almost everything about me already, and I know almost everything about you. What's left to share?"
"Hmmm..." he thought, "Have I told you about Dawn yet?"
"Nope."
"Alright! I'll tell you about her!"
"Okay... But before that, explain to me why you kissed me earlier when you're not interested in girls anymore?" I asked out of curiosity.
"I kissed you cause you're a girl!" he said casually.
"I thought you hated girls?"
"Cause you're not a girl? Duh~!"
"Okay... Now I'm confused."
"Then don't think about it~!" he ruffled up my hair.
But, I listened to him. After all that, I also listened to him talk about his past with this girl named Dawn on how she changed him. Dawn was the first girl to hurt him emotionally in the past, and that she had turned him down plenty.
I felt a little sad knowing that, and thought that Chris has also been through some pretty rough times. I would try to make Chris feel a little better by focusing more on the present, but mostly, I would be quiet and listen to his stories. His stories are interesting to hear, sometimes, it's like I'm listening to a story teller when I was still a little kid.
But at some points of the story, I felt hurt. I felt hurt when Chris would talk about the good things about Dawn, but happy when he would compliment me. Isn't that me being to self-absorbed? I'm being too self-conscious, its not right. I don't get this way ever. I'm the worst...
"Jade? Earth to Jade? You still there?" he waved his hands in front of my face.
I blinked twice, "Huh? Oh! Yeah..." I was lost in my own thoughts. I didn't have the strength to answer Chris anymore. Instead, all I did was poke one of my icy-cold fingers on Chris' face, to see if he'd tingle like Mae usually does.
I only had a blank expression as I poked him, but didn't get the reaction I was hoping for. Instead, to my shock, Chris had a serious expression as well. He took my hand and placed it on his cheek, his hand still on mine. I automatically blushed and took my hand away.
I felt nervous all of a sudden and couldn't look at him. "Did my girlfriend not like that?"
"Girlfr- ... Wha- What about waiting for Dawn?"
"Dawn?" he had a confused look on his face. My heart was beating triple times its beat. What's gotten into me lately?
Chris then gently took my hand and did a pinky swear with me. After intertwining our pinkies, he placed his thumb on mine, looked at me seriously and said, "I was talking about waiting for you. Weren't you listening?" I guess that I've been spacing out... Wait. What? He continued, "You're my girlfriend! See?" he raised our hands with our pinkies still intertwined and our thumbs against each other's. My cheeks heated up even more and I stole my hand away again.
"I'm your girl friend, or to make it clear, your female friend. You haven't co-courted me o-or anything." I say nervously.
"I have. You just don't acknowledged them as is." he looked hurt.
"We-Well... I-I... I..." I couldn't find the right words to say. I was so flustered, I couldn't think straight. I have never felt so utterly mean and stupid before. I have been so oblivious towards this one person, that things may fall out of hand.
I still couldn't find the right words to say, and Chris starts to snicker at me. "What? Did that make you so speechless that you couldn't even retort or make a comeback?" he laughed.
"Be quiet! I know that was pathetic!" I whined.
Chris laughed even more and it was louder. I couldn't help but laugh with him though, I was laughing at my own stupidity, it kinda released some stress levels off of me.
The problem now, was that Chris and I were so into laughing right now that my cheeks were hurting more than my stomach. "Okay... Hahaha... We should, hahahaha, stop. Hahaha!" Chris tried to say in between laughs.
"I'm trying... Hahahaha!" I say, still laughing.
"Okay.. Hahaha... Stop in 5... 4..." we were trying to hold our laughs, but staring at each other and trying to hold in our laughter, made us laugh even more before Chris could even say three! We looked like we were psychos! Almost everyone in the class was staring at us. It was totally embarrassing!!!
Chris even asked Isaac to slap some sense into him so that he'd stop laughing, but that made me laugh twice more, but Chris' laugh toned down, so I did the best I could so I'd calm down. Thankfully, I did just that.
We both wiped away the tears from the LOL's we had, and I was massaging my cheeks. Chris on the other hand, was holding his chest close to his heart. "Wha-? Chris? Are you alright?" Happiness soon turned into worry.
"I-I'm alright... My doctor did warn me not to get too happy... But I haven't laughed like that in ages!" he just smiled it off.
"But, take it easy alright? Don't scare me like that!" I say with a very worried tone.
"Sorry. Sorry." he smiled as he petted my head. But I haven't seen Chris laugh like that at all since the day I've met him. It's kinda cute and refreshing. But I know I'll never see or hear that side of him again. But it made me so happy, my stomach felt all weird inside...
After that, the bell rang and classes resumed. We went to our own seats, but before the teacher entered, Mae approached me and asked, "What was all that about?"
I giggled for some reason and answered, "I'll tell you all the details after class~!"
She giggled back at me and then pinched both my cheeks, "You sneaky vixen~!"
"Hey! Ow! Mae~!" I whined.
"Tee hee~!" she stuck her tongue out.
But seriously, today was a day full of emotions and second thoughts about a lot of things...
It makes me uncertain about many details...
