"Ni, I'm ho-" You started, only to be interrupted. Niall jumped, startled by your sudden presence, and immediately slammed his laptop shut, springing to his feet.
His cheery voice interrupted you as he chirped, "(Y/N)! Hey, baby! How was your day?"
Great, he's hiding something. "Niall," You flatly said, setting your bags down beside the door, "What's going on?"
His eyebrows crinkled in a way that made him appear to be confused, and he crossed his arms over his chest. Shrugging innocently, he mumbled, "Nothing. Nothing's going on. Why?"
"Why?!" You laughed, venturing into the kitchen where you snatched a bottle of water from the refrigerator. Niall followed you the entire way, his heart racing. He had to stay on your tail, in fear that you might get a hold of his laptop otherwise. You took a long sip and sighed, facing Niall to say, "Because you're obviously hiding something from me. Whatcha doin' on your laptop, Nialler?" You raised your eyebrows in a knowing matter and Niall swallowed hard.
"Uh..." Niall trailed off, desperately searching his mind for a believable excuse. "I was just... you know what, I was going to buy you something... online... and surprise you. Yeah, I was gonna do that, but now that you know, I guess I better go cancel the order and everything." Slick, Niall. Really slick. He pressed his lips together and slid, without lifting his feet, over to the coffee table, where his laptop was resting. His eyes stayed locked on you while he sunk back into the couch and placed his laptop in his lap.
You smirked and followed after him, saying, "Well, if you're going to cancel it, then you might as well show me what it was in the first place, right? I mean, it's not like it would be a surprise anyway, right?" You plopped down right beside him and squeezed into his side. There was no way he'd be able to hide anything now.
Niall felt his breaths increasing. He knew, that if you saw what was on his laptop screen, you'd never let him forget. You'd tease him about it endlessly. He sighed and slowly opened the laptop, revealing a Wattpad fanfiction, all about himself. Your hand flew to cover the huge grin on your face. Definitely not what you were expecting, but you were relieved that it was nothing bad. You giggled behind your hand and exclaimed, "That's all?! You're reading a fic about yourself?!"
Niall's cheeks blushed furiously and he dropped his eyes to his sweaty hands, mumbling, "Yeah."
You laughed and he kind of glared at you, embarrassed out of his mind. "That's hilarious," You laughed, "How'd you find it? Do you like it? How accurate is it?"
Niall rolled his eyes, but answered your questions, nonetheless. "I don't know. I was curious, so I looked around until I found this one. I'm in the middle of saving an abused girl. It's pretty intense, actually." For some reason, this made you laugh harder, until you were nearly on the floor. Niall pouted and closed out of the fanfiction before shutting his laptop down. "Why are you laughing at me?" He whined, "It's not funny. I was curious."
You sucked in a sharp breath and tried to tame your laughter, breathing, "Aw, you're right, baby. I'm sorry." Giggling a little more, you managed to say, "You can keep reading, you know. Maybe I'll join you!"
Shaking his head, Niall said, "No. You're just gonna laugh at me. At least I wasn't readin' a dirty one. Or a dark one."
"You even know the fanfic vocabulary! Oh my god, I never thought I'd see the day," You laughed once more, before finally calming yourself. Niall sat all curled up in the corner of the couch, with his arms folded over his chest. He was still pouting, hoping you'd show him a little sympathy. He knew you so well.
Cuddling up to him, you wrapped your arm around his shoulders and pecked his cheek, saying, "Niall, don't be embarrassed. It's cute."
"Maybe if you kiss me..." Niall started, puckering his lips, "...I'd feel better."
