A/N: Before you read this chapter, I just wanted to apologise for updating very late; everything's been extremely hectic recently... Don't hate me ;-; and enjoy!
The sunlight seeps through Dan's window, waking you up.
You groan sleepily and curl up closer to Dan, relaxing in the warmth radiating off him.
"Good morning," he says sleepily.
You groan again in response. He chuckles.
"Are you sleepy?" he asks, smiling.
You give him a sarcastic look. "No, not at all. I'm wide awake."
He holds his hands up in defence. "Sorry, Miss Attitude!"
You stick your tongue out at him. "Rude. I'm just a bit tired, that's all. And I never want to leave here - it's so comfortable."
Dan nods his head in agreement and puts his arms around you again.
"We don't have to socialise today, if you don't want to," he says.
You yawn and nod, smiling. "If that's okay with you... I don't really feel like doing very much today."
He grins. "Yeah, me neither."
You smile and drift off to sleep again in his arms.
*le time skip*
Dan wakes you up with a kiss on the cheek. You smile at him. You feel more awake now.
"What time is it?" you ask Dan.
He shrugs, and you roll your eyes. "You're so helpful."
He pouts and looks away from you.
"Oh, don't be sad! Sorry!" you exclaim.
He smiles and laughs. "It's okay, I'm only kidding."
You chuckle and poke one of your arms out of the duvet 'cave' to get your phone, which is on the bedside table. You find it eventually. You bring your arm back into the warmth and unlock the phone.
1:43
You widen your eyes at Dan. "It's nearly a quarter to two!"
He just shrugs. "That's a pretty normal time for me to wake up."
You laugh.
Dan clicks his fingers at you suddenly. "We should make a baking video!"
You nod and grin. "That would be awesome, what do you want to make?"
"Brownies?" he asks hopefully.
You nod again. "Sure! Do we have all the ingredients?"
"Probably," he replies.
You laugh and get out of bed.
*le time skip*
"Hello internet!" Dan says to the camera. "Today Y/n and I are bored, so we're going to make..."
You put your hands on the counter and start a drumroll.
"Brownies!" he finishes, shooting a smile in your direction.
"But not just any brownies," you say, smiling back at him. "Salted caramel brownies!"
"Hopefully they'll taste okay," he adds,
"You will need: a big bowl to mix things in."
Dan opens the cupboard, brings out a bowl, and sets it down on the counter.
"A whisk," he continues. "And if anyone mentions any whisk porn or fanfictions in the comments, I swear to god I will kill you."
You open a drawer and pull out a whisk, laughing.
"Greaseproof paper, so the mixture doesn't stick to the tin," you say, watching as Dan holds up the roll of greaseproof paper.
"A baking tin," he says, as you go to find the baking tin.
A/N: I'm just gonna skip this bit cus it's kinda boring... But if you want to know what else they use:
-Equipment-
A medium sized saucepan
A small bowl
A wooden spoon
A sieve
A spatula
A teaspoon
A skewer
A knife
-Ingredients-
200g unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing)
100g chocolate (70% cocoa solids)
100g chocolate (50% cocoa solids)
397g of a can of Carnation caramel
1 teaspoon of flaky sea salt, plus a little extra for the top of the brownies
200g golden caster sugar
4 medium sized eggs
130g plain flour
50g cocoa powder
(sorry if you don't measure stuff in grams)
*le time skip*
"Okay, first we are going to lubricate the tin," Dan says, greasing the edges of the tin and wiggling his eyebrows at you and the camera.
"Please never say that again," you groan.
"Lubricate, lubricate, LUBRICATE," he teases, getting louder each time he says it.
You look at the camera. "See what I have to deal with?"
Dan pouts. "She's worse than me, trust me."
You elbow him in the ribs, but not hard enough to hurt.
He gives you a cheeky grin and finishes greasing the tin.
"Now we need to line the tin with the greaseproof paper, so the brownies don't stick to the edges," you say, handing Dan the roll. "I'm going to start the mixing while Dan does this."
You get the saucepan and put the butter in. Once it's melted, you break in the chocolate, turn the hob off and stir the mixture. Dan has finished by this stage, and he comes over to help you.
"Do we just leave them at the side to melt?" he asks, pointing to the cubes of chocolate in the saucepan.
You shrug. "That's what the recipe says."
"Oh," he mumbles.
You read out the next line of the recipe. "In a small bowl, mix 175 grams of the caramel with a teaspoon of the salt."
You grab the bowl, the caramel and the salt. "We'll take it in turns," you say, pouring a little less than half of the caramel into the bowl. Dan puts the salt in, takes the wooden spoon and starts mixing them together. After a while, he hands the bowl and the spoon to you, and you mix it for a bit.
"Do you think this is mixed enough?" you ask him.
He peers into the bowl. "Yeah, that's fine."
Dan looks at your laptop screen to get the next step of the recipe. "Put the rest of the caramel in a large bowl with the sugar and eggs, and beat with a whisk until even."
He grabs the tin of caramel and empties it into the bowl - or tries to, at least. It's very sticky, so it comes out extremely slowly. He rolls his eyes in boredom and shakes the tin, flicking some caramel onto his face in the process.
You double over, laughing. He glares at you and hands you the tin. You continue to let it pour out, and watch in amusement while Dan washes it off his face at the sink.
"I'm all sticky now!" he complains, poking his face.
You laugh again, and he comes back over to you and cracks the eggs into the bowl. He adds the sugar too.
The last of the caramel drips into the bowl, and you set the tin to the side. Dan grabs the whisk and starts beating the mixture ferociously. You chuckle.
"Dan, it's going everywhere!" you exclaim.
He grunts and slows down. Finally, the mixture looks smooth.
"Whisk in the chocolate and butter. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa and salt, then sift this on top of the chocolate mix. Beat until smooth," you read out.
You get the saucepan of chocolatey butter mix from earlier and pour it into Dan's bowl. He starts whisking again.
You pick up another bowl and put the flour, cocoa powder and salt into it. You grab a wooden spoon and start mixing it, until it's combined.
Dan offers his bowl to you, and you sift the mixture from your bowl into it. He starts beating it, yawning.
"Are you sleepy?" you tease, impersonating him from the morning.
He nods and closes his eyes. "Yup."
"Do you want me to beat it?" you ask.
He shakes his head and pouts. "Nope, I'm not that tired."
You chuckle and watch him whisk the mixture until it's smooth. You grab the baking tin and the spatula.
"Now we pour half of the brownie batter in here, and make it even with the spatula," you tell the camera.
Dan does as you say, pouring the mixture into the tin. You smooth it over with the spatula.
"Spoon half of the salted caramel on top of it, then put the rest of the brownie mixture onto it. Then put the other half of the caramel on," you say, taking half of the salted caramel and spreading it on top of the brownie batter.
Once you've done that, Dan puts the rest of the brownie mixture onto it. You smooth it out again, then add the rest of the caramel.
"Now we have to bake it for half an hour," Dan says happily, picking up the tray and putting it into the oven. "Now for a half an hour intermission!"
You laugh, and he gives you a confused look.
"What?"
"You might want to turn the oven on," you say, smirking.
He glares at you and turns the oven on, up to 180 degrees (gas mark 4).
You look at the mess around you.
"I'm gonna go and do some Tumblring," Dan says, about to walk out of the kitchen.
You pout at him. "We have to tidy up, Dan!"
He groans and starts helping you put things away.
*le time skip*
"We're back!" you say to the camera, smiling.
Dan's eyes roll back in his head. "You guys have no idea how good the kitchen smells right now."
You laugh and nod in agreement. He grabs the oven gloves and takes the brownies out of the oven.
"They're supposed to be spongey, apparently," he says, jiggling the tray and watching them wobble about. "I think they're ready."
You lick your lips dramatically and smile. "Brownie time!"
"Salted caramel brownie time," Dan corrects, grinning at you. "Actually, Delia Smith salted caramel brownie time."
You roll your eyes at his obsession with Delia Smith. You cut the brownie batter into squares and hand Dan one. He bites off about half of it and moans.
You laugh. "Cover your ears, children!"
He smiles widely, revealing his dimples, and finishes chewing. "Oh my god, they're gorgeous!"
You give him a confused look. "They don't taste like snot then?"
He gives you a disgusted look. "...What?!"
"Oh, I sneezed in the mixture while you weren't looking," you lie, trying hard not to laugh, but you feel the corners of your mouth twitch upwards.
A look of realisation spreads across his face and he starts to laugh. "You didn't sneeze in it, did you?"
You shake your head and laugh with him. "No, of course not!"
He shoves you lightly, which just makes you laugh harder. Once you've both stopped, he offers you the other half of the brownie in his hands.
You open your mouth and give him a playful look. He rolls his eyes and feeds you it.
(A/N: ugh innuendos *facepalms* smh @ everyone in the comments)
"Thank you!" you say, your mouth still full.
Dan gives the camera a look of disgust and regret, and puts his hand to the side of his face to block his vision from you. "Such a ladylike person you are, Y/n."
You finish chewing and stick your tongue out at him.
A/N: Thank you all for nearly 2k! :0
