Sarang was surprised when she received the invitation for BBMAs 2018. Sarang was nominated for Top Social Artist along with BTS. She was also set to present an award at the show. She was delighted, this is something every artist dreams of and to think that she got such an opportunity was everything to her.
BTS were making history, they were the first K-pop act to ever perform at the BBMAs. It was also the television debut performance of their new single Fake Love. Sarang had participated in the making of the song and several other songs from the album. She was incredibly happy for her friends.
Sarang wore a beautiful green colored satin slip dress that hugged her figure like a glove. Jungkook had helped her pick this dress for the occasion and she absolutely loved it.
As Sarang made her way on the red carpet she was met with tons of camera flashes, something she has gotten used to over the time. As she smiled and waved beautifully, she was directed to stand where the interview was to take place.
Sarang looked around her, trying not to openly gawk at the A-list celebrities whom she had listened to so many times, standing right next to her. She could see Jcole on the far right side and was super excited to see him up close. She knew for a fact Hobi would lose his shit once he saw his muse.
She knew Taylor Swift was also attending and was praying that she could meet with the singer at least once.
Sarang was the next in line to be interviewed and she made her way to where the woman was standing.
"For the first time ever on BBMAS we've our rising kpop artist Sarang, oh my gosh, welcome! " The interviewer exclaimed happily.
"Thank you for having me here." Sarang smiled politely.
"Before we start can I just say that you look beautiful! Like wow photos don't do your beauty any justice at all." The interviewer gushed making Sarang blush.
"Ah you're too kind with your compliments." Sarang smiled shyly, to which the interviewer insisted that she was speaking facts.
"So Sarang how does it feel to be here tonight?"
"Exhilarating! I'm super excited to be here." Sarang replied, her excitement palpable.
"Your album Lethal Love has been out for a while now and it has done splendidly on charts. How does it feel to do so well with your music?" The interviewer queried.
"It feels so surreal and I'm eternally grateful to my fans, my Sarangdan. I owe all of this to them." Sarang answered while bowing to the camera slightly as she thanked her fans.
"I'm sure your fans would agree that your success is cause of your hardwork."
"While hardwork is really important, I believe it is with fans love and support that artists like us get the recognition on a bigger scale. I've seen my fans sending my albums to radio stations, sending flowers and confectioners to the radio stations so that my songs are played more. And I've seen the way they try to promote the album through creative ways. I'm so grateful to them for everything they do." Sarang earnestly replied, meaning every word she said.
"So Sarang what's your favorite track of the album? Personally I really love FXCK FEELINGS, it's such a bop." The interviewer said while trying to do the hook step of the song.
"Oh it's difficult to pick a song, I love them all but I'd say I love Forbidden the most, yeah." Sarang had a hard time choosing a favorite song but this song was definitely closer to her heart than any other.
"So your labelmates and good friends BTS will be here too, have you guys met each other already today?"
"Since both BTS and I have been on tour, we haven't seen each other yet sadly."
"Any artist that you're excited to see tonight?"
"Oh there are so many performances I'm looking forward to. I'm most excited to see Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and of course BTS. I can't wait to see them all.'
"You've been nominated for Top Social Artist award how does it feel? Do you think you'll win tonight?"
"It doesn't matter whether I win the award or not. The fact that I'm nominated in the same category as big artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes and of course BTS, that's such an honor in itself. I'd be delighted if I win the award of course, but even if I don't I wouldn't be that sad." Sarang answered cordially.
"Thank you so much, I hope you have a lovely night Sarang."
"Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful night too." And with one last smile Sarang made her way inside.
After thirty minutes or so of looking around Sarang was startled when someone tapped her shoulder. She turned around to see Jungkook looking down at her with his mischievous smile, making her smile in return. She got up to hug him and the other members, before taking her seat. Coincidentally or not, their seats were right next to each other.
They sat and talked for some time before the show started. Sarang and Jungkook were talking amongst themselves during break when a cameraman asked them to pose for the camera. Silently looking at their managers for permission Sarang and Jungkook stood next to each other to get a pic taken.The photographer asked them to do candid poses and Jungkook twirled her around, making her laugh at his sudden action.
Sarang and Jungkook were having the time of their lives. Something about the American air felt much more relaxing, like people weren't looking at them like hawks, dying to over analyze their every move. Like they can just be normal 21 year olds having fun.
They both knew for a fact that these pics would wreck havoc on social media but neither of them seemed to care about it in that moment.
They went back to their seats, still giggling at each other.
After sometime it was time for TSA to be announced, Jungkook and Sarang held hands underneath the jacket they had draped on their knees. As the presenter called BTS's name Sarang immediately leapt up with joy, turning to Jungkook and congratulating him heartily. She congratulated the other members too before taking her seat.
Even though she didn't win the award, she truly was happy that it was her friends who won it. She felt happy and honored to be here. Maybe one day she'll win an award at BBMAS too.
Soon Sarang was called backstage to get prepared for the award she had to present. She made her way to the stage, carrying the envelope in her hand.
"This year's Top Female Artist nominees include four first timers and a previous two time winner. Let's see who they are." As Sarang said this the big screen played clips of nominated artists.
"And the Billboard Music Award for Top Female Artist goes to-" Sarang looked down at the envelope, a big smile on her face. "TAYLOR SWIFT." Everyone erupted in applause as Taylor made her way to the stage.
Although Sarang was wearing heels she had to look up to meet Taylor's eyes due to their height difference, which later trended on social media. Sarang presented the award to Taylor who hugged her in return before giving her speech.
As Sarang made her way to her seat, she got ready for BTS to perform. Soon the lights dimmed and BTS appeared on stage, armys screamed the fan chants at the top of their lungs making everyone look around astonished at how loud the cheers were. Sarang sang the song along, she even made a video. She was so proud of watching her friends make history right in front of her eyes.
When the part where Jungkook lifts his shirt came Sarang damn near stopped breathing for a second. She had seen the mv before, but yet seeing his abs like this was a very different experience for her.
A very wild and unbridled thought crossed her mind 'What would it feel like if I run my hands up and down his abs?'
Sarang physically shook herself a little, astonished at the direction her mind was going in.
As the performance ended everyone gave BTS a standing ovation, Sarang took several more photos of the group, especially of her best friend Jungkook.
The night went on for couple more hours, Sarang and the maknae line dancing and vibing along to every performance like they were at a concert while the hyung line, although still enjoying the night were tamer than younger ones.
As the night ended and everyone started leaving, Sarang got the biggest shock of her life. Taylor Swift approached her. She had already met with BTS earlier and Sarang was a bit bummed about the fact that she didn't get to see her.
"Sarang, hi!" Taylor called out, making Sarang do a double take. She instinctively greeted her back.
"I love your new song so much. I was watching it and I was like wow that's surreal." At Taylor's compliment Sarang couldn't help but blush.
"Oh thank you so much for saying that. I absolutely love your music, Reputation is simply amazing." Sarang gushed out.
After couple more minutes Taylor asked Sarang if they can take a picture or something and Sarang immediately responded with "I'd love to." Making the American singer laugh at her enthusiasm.
As Taylor and Sarang took a pic, Sarang felt like her day couldn't get any better. But oh boy was she wrong.
The Bighit artists all were huddled in a hotel room, BTS had just finished their live stream and now it was just relaxing time for them. Sarang has almost dozed off when a voice startled her awake.
"I bought something for you."
Sarang sleepily blinked her eyes to see Jungkook, a very shy looking Jungkook to be exact standing in front of her, hiding something behind his back.
"You did?" Sarang excitedly asked, her sleep long forgotten.
He shyly nodded before presenting her the gift he got for her. A cute bunny plushie.
"If you miss me, just look at this bunny and know that I'll always be there for you." As Jungkook handed her the plushie Sarang felt like she'd end up crying any moment now. Jungkook had been preparing himself to hug her if she cried, silently thrilled at the notion.
But strangely her emotions soon did a 180° and Sarang started laughing instead. Hurt and confused Jungkook asked her why she's laughing, whether she thought the gift was too childish.
Sarang just shook her head before rummaging through her luggage and then rushed to thrust something soft in Jungkook's hand. As he looked down he couldn't help but laugh when he saw a fox plushie.
"Whenever you miss me, look at this cutie and know that I'll always be here for you." Sarang hadn't even finished her sentence before Jungkook engulfed her in a bear hug.
The duo stayed that way for some time before parting as Jungkook's manager had called him.
It was the best day for both of them indeed.
