It has been close to two months since Sarang's debut. Everything was going smoothly so far. Her album has been charting relatively well on domestic charts though it wasn't doing that good on international ones. Bang pd comforted her by saying that that's how it usually is in the beginning.
Hopefully people from all over the world can gradually love her music.
There were surprisingly not enough shows who were willing to bring Sarang in despite her growing popularity. The few who did would always treat her in a way that left her feeling uneasy.
Nothing too noticeable, just an annoyed look plastered over their face. Trying to speak over her everytime they can. Making fun of her subtly and a ton of other things.
Belatedly after a late night drinking session with BTS, she realized that they faced this issue too. Since both BTS and Sarang were from Bighit, a small company and were doing really well, there were lots of "big people" in the industry who weren't happy with it.
And those people tried their best to actively sabotage their career. Sarang was stunned to find that out but now everything made much more sense.
How a lot of people sneered at her, some looked at her as if they couldn't believe someone like her did so well on charts. The way the staffs from big companies would scoff at her, talking among themselves loud enough for her to hear, wondering why she chose a bankrupt company over theirs.
It all hurt. But what broke her heart more was that BTS was subjected to this for a longer time than her. And their mistreatment by the industry was worse than hers. Because they steadily were rising up and after I Need U's success plus The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part. 2 getting in exceptionally good pre orders, there were people getting scared of it.
But for now she wanted to focus on her first ever fanmeet. She was going to meet and greet her fans face to face for the first time tomorrow and she was so excited for it.
She has been preparing handmade gifts for all of her fans since sometime ago. She wasn't sure whether they'll like it or not, she hoped they did. There were 150 fans coming to the fansign. Bighit told her that there would've been more but since this was her first ever fan event they tried to keep it at a smaller number so as to not overwhelm her.
Though a bit bummed about the fact that she couldn't find meet more of her fans, she agreed with the company's logic. She was still a bit shy around people and she had no experience in these things.
She has always loved crocheting and so as a gift for her fans who were attending tomorrow, she crocheted a cute little fox. It took her couple of weeks to finish all 150 of them, she just hoped they all liked it.
She chose fox because people always told her that she had a fox like vibe to her, or she reminded them of fox cause of her features. And her representative animal was a fox too. She wanted her fans to think of her whenever they had a hard time and hoped that this fox can comfort them in some way.
DAY OF FAN SIGN
Sarang woke up super early to get ready for the day. She was nervous but excited for the event. As she finally arrived at the venue of the fansign she was a bit amazed at the long line forming outside it.
As soon as she got out of the car she was immediately met with screams and camera flashes. People calling her name and asking for her to wave or look in their direction.
Though a bit overwhelmed, she smiled and waved at all of them, making sure to look in every direction. She knew a lot of the people around the venue didn't win the raffle and will not get a chance to come inside. But she was grateful that they all took time off their busy schedules to come and see her.
So she made sure to greet and smile in every direction and make up for it. As she made her way inside she noticed that it was a cozy place, and there was a small stage at the back where she will sit.
She went in the waiting room to freshen up a bit while the fans were let inside. Soon she was able to hear the loud chatter from the fans. As the staff gave her the signal to come up she took a big deep breathe before finally going up.
Instantly she was met with loud cheers and dozens of camera flashes, momentarily blinding her. She managed to keep her smile in place and bowed a bit to the audience.
"Hello everyone, my name is Choi Sarang, thank you for coming to my first fan meet. Let's make good memories." She said warmly.
Sarang performed her songs onstage, and as it came to an end the staff set up the table and chair for her to sit.
"Unnie you look so beautiful." The first person in the line gushed.
Sarang smiled at her before thanking her and then asked her for her name.
"Park Haeri" The girl replied enthusiastically. As Sarang chatted with her and signed the album for her, Haeri gave her a flower tiara as a gift.
Sarang immediately gushed at how pretty it is before wearing it immediately.
"This is my first gift from a fan ever, thank you so much for such a beautiful tiara."
"I've a gift prepared for you too." Sarang said as she took one of the crocheted fox from under the table and gave it to her.
"Wow this is so cute, did you make it yourself unnie?" The fan said looking at Sarang with eyes full of wonder and awe.
Sarang nodded and smiled a bit "It's not great but I love crocheting and decided to make this for you all. Hope you liked it."
"IT'S PERFECT" The fan yelled before apologizing a bit.
As the line progressed Sarang continued conversing with her fans, signing the albums, thanking them for the gifts they gave her. They all thanked her back for the fox and told her about how much they loved her music.
One of the fans gave her a cute little bunny hat that she immediately wore.
"Sarang-ah though you've just debuted, I want to let you know that you're doing amazing and we Sarangdan are all very proud of you. No matter what happens never give up. Remember we'll always support you and love you." As one of the older fans told her this Sarang couldn't help but tear up, enticing a chorus of "awwww" "Don't cryyyyy" from her fans.
She was moved by what the older woman told her, grateful to all her fans for being so kind and sweet to her.
One of her fans made her journal where she pasted pics of Sarang from all her official events till now, surprisingly there even was a Polaroid photo of her from this fansign. She wrote funny jokes and a lot of quotes on it.
Sarang was left speechless as she looked at the beautifully made journal that must've taken the fan hours to make.
Another one of Sarangdan drew Sarang and framed it for her.
"I'm an amateur artist so this isn't as good as I wanted it to be-" As the fan began a bit shyly Sarang immediately cut her off.
"Nooo what are you talking about? This is such a beautiful drawing and I know that as time goes by you'll keep on improving immensely. Thank you so much for this beautiful gift" The fan beamed up at Sarang, her self doubts vanishing in a second.
One fan gave her a bamboo hat that she made herself and Sarang wore it immediately, thanking the fan for her gift.
"Noona you're my ideal type will you marry me?" One of her male fan asked.
"How old are you?" Sarang asked him smiling at the young boy.
"I'll turn 14 soon." The fan replied.
"Oh you still have to grow up a lot then. Noona will reconsider it once you're all grown up okay? So study hard and have lots of fun." Sarang wasn't sure how to answer the question but judging from the looks of staff and the kid she must've said the right thing.
Sarang was surprised to see that among her fans there were almost equal amounts of male and female fans.
"Noona you inspired me to become an idol too."
Sarang looked up at the tall boy standing in front of her and smiled warmly at him.
"I hope your dream comes true soon. Hopefully the next time we meet you'll already be an idol or a trainee."
As Sarang said this, the young boy immediately brightened up giving her a big smile.
"Noona I promise you that I'll become a good idol and make you proud. "
As Sarang talked with him a bit more, she realized that the guy obviously had a love for music and encouraged him to pursue his dreams. When she gave him the fox he immediately snuggled it close.
"Noona, this will be my lucky charm. I'll always keep it close. Thank you for being so amazing and inspiring, I love you so much."
As the boy literally bounced back to the back of the room Sarang couldn't help but let out a chuckle at his enthusiasm.
All of the fans kept gushing over the cute fox she had crocheted and how beautiful and kind she was.
After everything was almost wrapped up someone slid her his album and as she looked up to see his face she was shocked beyond belief. It was Jungkook.
He was smiling at her, his eyes glinting with mirth. As she kept staring at her he tutted.
"It's rude to stare like that Sarang." He was smiling fully now.
