(Next morning, 9am)
Jay's pov
I opened my eyes slightly, blinking to clear my blurry vision. I wanted to stretch my arms but someone was holding onto it.
"Suyeon? Are you awake?"
I asked softly.
She hummed, her eyes still closed.
"Wake up. I need to cook breakfast"
I placed my free hand on her shoulder.
"It's the weekend, can't we sleep in?"
She said in a sleepy voice.
"You can sleep in, but I need to cook for you and I"
I caressed her cheeks with my thumb.
"Stay with me.."
Her voice got progressively softer.
The world stopped for a moment. 'Stay with me'. Oh that's giving me war flashbacks.
"U-Um. How about we both get up now. I'm bringing you on a date today"
I suggested.
That got her attention.
"A date? Okayy! Oh can you get my glasses? I can't see anything. They're in the kitchen"
She asked, rubbing her eyes.
"Can you see me? I should still be handsome without your glasses on"
I moved closer to her face.
"Stop flattering yourself and get my glasses for me"
She demanded.
I got up and took her glasses that was laying on the counter in the kitchen and brought them back to her.
"Thanks"

"Can you my handsome face now?"
I asked.
"Yea yea, whatever. I'm gonna take a shower"
She struggled her way out of bed and walked past me, to the bathroom.
"I'll cook breakfast for us. I'll call you when it's ready"
I shouted when she closed the door behind her.
I went out and started looking for things to cook in her fridge. She needs more groceries, honestly.
I made whatever I could with the limited knowledge I had. I'm always grateful that my mom taught me how to cook.
20 mins later
"Suyeon! Come eat breakfast!"
I shouted, setting up the table.
She didn't come out.
I called her again but there was no response. I went to her room to see that she wasn't out of the bathroom yet.
I twisted the door knob, expecting it to be locked. But it was opened..
"Oh. Oh my gosh, sorry"
I walked in and saw her in a bathrobe.
I quickly closed the door but Suyeon held the other side before I could.
"You're lucky that I'm in a bathrobe. And it's fine I'm just doing skincare"
She opened the door fully and I looked away from her.
"J-Just come for breakfast once you changed. I'll go out first"
I said and walked out.
After a few minutes, Suyeon got out. She wore a red floral dress.

"Does this suit me? I rarely wear dresses"
Suyeon did a twirl.
"Mhm. You look good"
'You look gorgeous' was what I wanted to say.
"Thanks. And where are we going for our date?"
She sat down in front of me.
"Excited, aren't you?"
I laughed.
"Shut up. I just haven't been on a date before"
She took a bite of her food.
"You've never dated anyone before?"
I asked.
"I literally told you. You were my first–um…you know what I'm talking about"
I could tell she was nervous.
"First kiss?"
I grinned, looking up at her.
"Have some shame please? We're literally eating"
She took a gulp of water.
"After last night? Yea, no. And our date is a surprise so just follow me"
I tried to stifle a laugh.
She gave me a 'I'm-so-done-with-you' look and then continued munching on her breakfast.
We finished up our meal, took out things and left her house.
Timeskip
(At a pet cafe)
"Here we are"
We stopped in front of a pet cafe.
"OH MY GOSHH!"
Suyeon cupped her mouth.
"Let's go in. There's different breeds of dogs and cats here and we get free coffee"
I guided her inside.
"Hi, I made a reservation for two at 11am under the name, Park Jay?"
I checked in with the worker.
"Yes. Welcome to the pet cafe. We have the cats on the right side here and dogs on the left side. You may also order two cups of coffee here for free over here"
The worker explained.
"Thank you so much. We'll enjoy our time here"
I flashed her a smile.
"I forgot to tell you, there's a promotion for couples. You can get a free piece of cake. Would you two like it?"
She asked, pointing to the sign board.
"Yes pleasee!"
Suyeon answered.
"Okay. You guys can go ahead first and I'll bring it to you later"
She said and we bowed, then going towards the dog section.
"We're not official yet and you agreed that we're a couple?"
I told her.
This is giving me deja vu.
"Anything for free stuff. You did the same too when we were in Japan anyway"
She said.
"Waahh! They're all so fluffy"
Suyeon ran towards an American Eskimo dog and pet it.
She kneeled down to play with it. Soon, a few other dogs came running towards her, barking happily.
"Aww, who's this~?"
She turned to the side and pet a golden retriever.
"It looks so much like Layla"
I pet its head.
"Is that another girl?"
Suyeon removed her hand from the golden retriever.
Why not tease her a little bit?
"Yea. I've known her for..two years?"
I played with the dog's ears while smiling at it.
"Is she pretty? Can I see a picture?"
She came closer to me.
"Very pretty, and smart. This is her"
I took out my phone and showed her a picture of Layla, Jake's dog.
"Wait what?"
She pushed up her glasses, taking a closer look at the dog.
"Layla is Jake's dog. What girl did you think I was talking about?"
I pinched her cheek.
"Tsk. I never knew he had a dog. I thought you were talking about a girl friend of yours"
She shoved the phone back to me.
"You're the one and only prettiest girl, Choi. I just wanted to have a little fun with you"
I ruffled her hair.
"Here's your cake. Hope you're enjoying your time"
The worker from earlier served us the cake.
I thanked her and both of us took a bite of it. It was really good. The fact that it was free made it taste even better.
We then took a few photos with the dogs and used toys to play with them a while longer.
"Do you wanna go to the cat section now?"
Suyeon asked, standing up.
"Sure. But you play with them. I'm allergic to them"
I told her.
"Really?"
She pouted.
"Mhm. But I'll wear my mask and try to play with them"
I interlocked arms with and walked to the cat section.
I put on my mask and we went in. We were greeted with purrs and meows.
"Helloo, lovely~"
Suyeon bent down and pet an orange cat.
I went down to sit on a chair. I looked at Suyeon saying hello to all the cats. She let them sniff her hand before petting them.
"Jay! Look! It's coming to you"
Suyeon pointed to a black cat that was heading towards me.
"Ohh, hii"
I awkwardly waved my hands.
The cat brushed its head against my leg and I flinched a bit.
"Are you a scaredy-cat?"
She grinned mischievously while pointing at me.
"Hate to admit, but yes. I hate it when they hiss at me"
I eyed the cat that was circling around my legs.
"This one is friendly. It likes you"
She said.
The cat jumped on the seat beside me and I gasped.
"She's so gorgeous too. O-m-g, wait I know they have biscuits for the cats. Let me go get them"
Suyeon said and went to the biscuit dispenser.
She came back with a handful of it. She kneeled down in front of me and placed her hand on my lap.
"Hey baby, come here~"
She showed the black cat the food in her hand.
The black cat looked intrigued and suddenly hopped onto my lap making my heart jump.
"Good girl"
The cat started eating the food while Suyeon stroked it.
"Suyeon, get it off me. Please"
I was pushing my back against the wall, afraid to get near it.
"It's okay. She won't hurt you. Give me your hand"
She showed me her other free hand.
I shook my head. She just took my wrist and slowly put it on the cat's head.
She moved it back and forth, making me stroke it while it was still eating.
"See, it's not so bad"
She let go of my hand and I continued petting it.
"She's so soft"
I smiled to myself.
The cat finished up the biscuits and laid down on its belly.
"Is it just going to sit here?"
I asked worriedly.
"Mhm. Don't you dare move, Jay. I'll be playing with the other cats"
She warned.
I am stuck here now with the black cat. I cautiously gave it pets on its head and that caused it to close its eyes.
It fully laid down and fell asleep on my lap.
"Jay! Look here!"
I heard a voice whisper-shouting.
I looked up and saw Suyeon holding up her phone. She took a few pictures of me and then a few selfies of us together.
"Send them to me too"
I said and she nodded.
"How do you get this kitty off though?"
I asked her softly.
"I'll call the worker. We shouldn't handle the cats by ourselves"
She went over to the counter to call for some help.
The worker came over and carried the kitten away to a pet bed.
"Phew. I was stressing out"
I sighed in relief.
"But at least you got to play with a cat today. Make sure to wash your hands later so the germs won't get in your eye"
Suyeon reminded me.
She found a white cat and it seemed to be affectionate. She gave it kisses and ruffled it's fur.
There's no way I'm envious of a cat right now.
"You give a cat so many kisses, but where's all mine?"
I asked while walking towards her.
"Come onn, it's just a cat"
She continued petting it, ignoring me.
"Don't act oblivious. Be fair and give me some too"
I opened my mask.
"Okay, but not here. I'll give you one before we go later"
She put my mask back on and I pursed my lips under it.
We played with the cats and drank some coffee for half an hour more.
I was still afraid of a few of the cats that came near me but Suyeon was there to reassure me.
She's so loving.
It was time to leave and we bid goodbye to the cats. Suyeon kept going back to pet it for a 'last time' and I laughed.
I paid for it and washed my hands before finally leaving the place. I threw my used mask in a bin nearby.
"Thanks for the date, Jay. I was really happy for the first time in a while. I'll head home by myself"
She said, looking into my eyes.
Her eyes showed sincerity and gratefulness. I'm glad that I could make her happy.
"You're welcome. I'll be heading back to the dorm. Text me when you're home, safely"
I said and she nodded.
Suyeon waved her hand and turned around to walk away. But then I remembered something.
"Suyeon! Where's my kiss?"
I asked and she stopped in her tracks.
"I'LL GIVE IT TO YOU ANOTHER DAY! BYE!"
She zoomed off without looking back.
Nope, I'm not letting her get away with this.
I chased and caught up to her in no time. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to me, tickling her stomach.
"OKAY, OKAY! I'LL GIVE YOU A KISS"
She shouted through laughter from the tickles.
I stopped and spun her around. She gave me a peck on the lips and a smile grew on my face.
"Thank you, Choi. Now you may go"
I let go of her waist.
She gave me an upside down smile and waved goodbye. I watched her walk away until she disappeared from my sight.
I have to tell the members all about it. How could I not when she's making my heart flutter like this?
