The next couple of weeks passed, and Luke's still recovering. I had no doubts he's enjoying his days at home, not having a care about school. The bell rang, and I decided to walk home a little slower today to enjoy the breeze and the leaves falling from the trees. I spotted a beautiful colored leaf over by the trees, but I'd have to walk through these piles of leaves, branches, and logs to get it. I made my way over there, and as I almost reached it, I slipped on a hidden mud pile and smacked my head on a log knocking me out cold.
I woke up wincing in pain, realizing I had no idea where I was. I glanced around and felt a wave of panic, wondering if I'd been kidnapped when I was unconscious. I'm not bound to anything, and this is surprisingly a comfortable bed, so where exactly am I if I'm not kidnapped?! I tried to stand up, but I winced in pain and felt dizzy. The door opened and what I saw in front of me left me speechless.
"What are you doing here? Where am I?!"
"You're in my room, and this is my house. I found you on the ground back there, so I took you here to rest up. You seem to have injured your head. How're you feeling?" He came and sat down next to me. He brushed my hair to the side of my face. Something flashed in his eyes but went away as soon as it came.
I stared into his deep blue eyes, "thank you for helping me again. I'm such an idiot." I remembered how I slipped and couldn't help but laugh. That was an embarrassing fall. I'm glad no one saw it.
He didn't say anything and kept staring at me. "Is there something on my face?" I asked worriedly.
He turned away, "no, let me know when you want to go home so I can drop you off." He stood up and left. Strangely, I don't feel afraid or wary of him. Maybe I hit my head too hard? I managed to get up and wander around his room. I didn't touch anything, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't eager. I stared at a photo of him smiling. It was such a beautiful smile, I admit. I was lost in a trance that I didn't hear him come in.
"Anything interesting?" He huskily whispered in my ear, causing me to jolt back and lean in on him. He held me as I squirmed to balance myself on my feet. I couldn't help but awkwardly chuckle, "Sorry, I guess hitting my head made me more clumsy. I'm ready to go home." He nodded, leading me out of his home.
I followed him quietly into his car. On the way home, neither of us talked. I stared out the window into the forest. I didn't even realize I had fallen asleep. I must've been so tired from hitting my head.
