"Morning bella" Carina said rolling over to her wife, placing her hands on her wife's hips giving her a quick kiss on the neck
"Carina? I didn't hear you arrive last night" she said with a raspy voice, turning over as well kissing her wife on the lips
"I know I'm sorry" she said as soon as they pulled apart. She apologized feeling bad that she didn't make it for dinner time "It took longer than expected and then I just got stuck with work" she said playing with one of Maya's strands of hair "Sorry I didn't call"
"It's okay, I figured" she said smiling trying to make her feel better "What time is it?" she asked changing the subject
"Almost 7" the blonde immediately frowned. What was Carina doing up this early? Carina chuckled at her wife's expression "I wanted to see you before I have to leave for work" she stated "How was your night?"
"You have to leave? I can't stay" she said, thinking about the girls that slept on the other room. She wasn't sure that leaving them with someone they didn't know was a great idea "It was fine, Luna was a little... quiet though" she told her wife who nodded "We stayed up late waiting" the blonde started as a sad smile appeared on the brunette's face "she wanted you"
"Si, but don't worry I'll take them with me" the brunette said referring as to where they could leave the girls for the day, she didn't had anything sheduled for today. So unless something comes up, then everything should be calm. They could stay with her "She did? She had a little breakdown yesterday" she said to which Maya looked at her and stayed quiet for her wife to keep talking "I don't know exactly what triggered it" the Italian commented "One minute she was fine and the other she was crying and couldn't breath"
"Like the other day?" Maya asked remembering the first episode they presenced
"Yes, almost 10 minutes passed before she actually calmed down, poor bambina" she said wishing she could do more for the little girl "I'll go wake them" she suddenly said starting to get up. The blonde, noticing this, sat up on the bed and grabbed her wife by the waist pulling her close "I'm gonna be late" she said when she felt Maya's lips tracing kisses from her shoulder to her neck
"No you are not" she said smiling when she saw the Italian tilting her head to the side giving her more room "we have plenty of time"

"Let's go change girls or we are going to be late" Carina said taking out some clothes from the closet and placing them over the bed. Both girls looked at Carina a little confused
"Where 'we going?" the little five-year-old asked as she abruptly stopped playing with her teddys. Suddenly the girl's lip started to quiver and her eyes filled with tears "Back with Jennifer?" she asked barely making it without sobbing "I don't want to go back" she said trying her best to hold the tears in
"You sending us back?" the older girl asked looking down not wanting to look at the woman in front of her knowing that if she did she would end up crying. She didn't remember doing anything wrong and Emma was behaving
"What? No, of course not" the brunette answered mentally slapping herself seeing the state both girls were in "Come here" she said crouching down motioning for them to come closer "Neither Maya nor me would ever think about sending you back" she said softly wiping some tears of the toddler's face "you are not going anywhere anytime soon okay?" she said and the older girl let out a relief breath, even though she didn't said it this was the safest she has felt in a long time and she was glad they were staying a little longer "Now let's get ready or we are going to be late" she said standing up "you are going to work with me, because Maya can't stay today"
"Need any help here" Maya said entering the room
"Can you help Emma get changed" she asked as the little girl looked up at the mention of her name. The girl didn't need that much help, just with the shirt. She didn't understood how that worked yet. Maya nodded grabbing the clothes Carina had placed over the bed
"Can I keep this?" Luna whispered looking down at the sweatshirt she was wearing. She was wearing Carina's sweatshirt and that was another thing. Luna felt safer with that sweatshirt, It was a little big on her but it was warm and nice and It gave her some kind of comfort.
"You sure you don't want to wear some of your clothes?" she asked to which she received a nod as a response "Okay then, you can keep it" she said smiling
Once they were all set to go, the four of them left the house. Maya heading to the station and Carina to the hospital along with the girls. Emma was a bit nervous, even though she knew they didn't go for a checkup, hospitals weren't a place she liked. So when they arrived she immediately asked to be held which Carina did without thinking.
Luna didn't like hospitals either, the memories she had about hospitals weren't exactly nice. The little girl looked up at Carina, looking how her little sister held tight to the brunette as the woman rubbed soft patterns in the girl's back. She would like some comfort from the brunette too but she understood that her sister needed it more. It had always been like that, she had to grow up a little faster because her sister was the little one ... she got a little more attention. Anyway, Luna was happy that her sister was happy and safe, so she didn't pay too much attention to what she wanted.
"Hey there, who are the new interns?" Amelia said greeting Carina making the brunette chuckle
"They are my foster daughters" she said smiling "This is Emma" she said looking at the little blonde who was hiding on the crok of her neck "and this is Luna" she said looking down to the eight-year-old that held tight to her hand
"Hi girls, It's nice to meet you" Amelia said smiling at the two little girls receiving a little hi from Luna and a little wave from the five-year-old "Well, I'll see you guys around" she said as she got paged and had to run off
"Let's go girls" the brunette said starting to walk to her office. As they walked there Luna couldn't help but look around a little. All the rooms were the same, some of them were empty and some of them weren't. A specific room caught her attention, there was a woman that was holding a baby, she looked so happy. Suddenly a man came into view with a little boy in his arms. Sometimes she wonders what would be like to finally feel part of a family, not just as a guest "Luna? Are you okay bella?" Carina asked when she noticed the girl lost in her own world.
"I'm okay" she answered coming out of her mind for a second to which the brunette nodded
Once they got to the Italian's office, she placed emma on the little couch she had and went towards her desk sitting on the chair in front of it. Luna seeing her sister was fine in the sofa, looking at the new place, made her way towards Carina "What is it bella?" she asked to which the girl reached her arms up. The brunette smiled, happy that the girl was finally trusting her a little bit more "Come here bambina" she said picking her up and placing her on her lap
"You work here?" Luna asked refering to the office
"Not all the time, but sometimes I do" the woman explained "Most of the time I'm moving around the hospital" she said and the kid nodded. Just when the kid was about to say something a few knocks were heard on the door. Making Emma jump from the sofa to run towards Carina "Come in"
"Dr. DeLuca" Amelia said coming into the office "I'm sorry but they need you in emergency" she said in a rush
"Isn't there someone else?" she asked and let out a sigh when she saw Amelia shook her head. Luna aware of what that meant, felt her breathing change "Okay" she said panicking a little on what to do with the girls
"I can stay with them if you want" Amelia said as she noticed her friend's brain working a thousand miles per hour. She didn't know what was going on the kids but she definitely could relate to not wanting to leave your child the firsts months. She could remember that even though this was not the same situation, it was a close one.
"You sure?" the brunette asked placing Luna on the ground as she stood up. She didn't want to bother her friend
"Yes, now go" she said to the Italian, her shift was over but she had to stay a couple more hours anyway
"Okay girls, I need you to be good for Amelia okay" she said and felt Emma clung to her "I won't be long... and she's really nice I promise"
Luna saw the her sister didn't planned on letting go of the brunette anytime soon and she understood that the woman's job was important so she had to be the brave one this time
"Emma come on" she said grabbing her sister's hand "Come look at this" she said pulling her sister a little "Carina is going to be back soon"
"You sure?" the toddler asked her sister
"I'm sure" she said and the little girl finally let go of the brunette following her sister to the books and pictures that were all around the office's walls
"Page me if anything happens" Carina said before leavig the room
"I will, we'll be fine"
