Ryota's POV.
Ryota: Haaaaah! Haaaaaah!
Me, Kaichou, Shinomiya-san and Fujiwara-san are just leaning against the door with our exhausted bodies.
Chika: We made it in time!
Then an old man, probably in his sixties, wearing a formal suit greeted us.
Adolphe: Good work, everyone!
Miyuki: Headmaster, next time, please don't tell us so in the last minute.
Adolphe: Understood.
Adolphe: But also, thanks for accepting their request, Koharu-sama.
My mom smiled as she calmly taps my shoulder.
Koharu: No problemo!
Kaguya: Thankfully, Koharu-san accepted our request for help.
Koharu: Anything for my cute Ryo-chan.
Ryota: Mom........
Koharu: Hahahahaha!
Koharu: Anyways. I'll be going back to the café now. Also, don't forget. You're still banned for working.
Ryota: Can you lift the ban, please? I'm getting dull now.
Koharu: Nah, wait until your ban is over. Also, knowing you, you can handle it just fine.
Koharu: Goodbye, everyone! Enjoy the party~
We all say our goodbye to my mom.
Miyuki: Your mom is as lively as ever, eh?
Ryota: Yep.
Adolphe: Well then.........
The Principal opens the door.
Adolphe: Have a good time everyone.
The four of us entered the banquet hall.
I took the chance to take a look at my surroundings and there are a lot of students, Japanese and French students.
Ryota: Well, the thing is.........I can't speak French. Though.......are there some of the French Students that can speak English?
Ryota: Hmmmm. I wonder.........
Then just as I was in the middle of my thoughts, a French Student called out to me and it's girl.
Female French Student: Bonjour!
I bowed my head out of respect.
Ryota: Bonjour!
Ryota: U-um......
Then I spoke in English.
Ryota: Do you know how to speak in English?
Female French Student: Oh, yeah. Wait, for you to use English.....
Ryota: To be honest, I really can't speak French.
Female French Student: Oh. I see. It's glad that your honest. Well, would you mind to introduce yourself?
Ryota: Oh! How rude of me.
Ryota: My name is Ryota Kaedehara. I am the Student Council's Public Relations Officer or can be called as the "General Affairs" in some other schools.
Jeanne: Jeanne. Jeanne Bellerose. Nice to meet you......um.........
Ryota: Oh, how you should address someone here in Japan? Well, you can call me by my surname which is "Kaedehara" or by my given name which is "Ryota" but......we usually call others in their surname with honorifics.
Jeanne: O-oh. Well, can I call you, Kaedehara? It sounds so beautiful.
Ryota: Yeah. Also, thank you for that compliment, Bellerose-san.
Jeanne: You can call me by my name.
Ryota: O-okay, then, Jeanne would be fine?
Jeanne: Yep.
Then I noticed that her clothes are different as she's wearing a white dress with a small necktie.
Ryota: May I ask but, why is your clothes so different from the rest of your classmates?
Jeanne: Oh, well......I just transferred to another school back in France and it was only two days ago.
Jeanne: And my uniform will be delivered to me next week.
Ryota: I see. So you just transferred......so it means.......
Jeanne: Yep, I really don't have any friends in my school as of this moment.
Ryota: Well, I guess you can start by talking to people at your class or if you know someone–
I was then interrupted by Kaichou who has a dreadful expression on his face.
Miyuki: W-wait, Kaedehara.......how can you communicate with her?
Ryota: Oh, since I don't know how to speak French, I'm using English and luckily, this student right here also understands English.
Since Jeanne can't understand my conversation with the Prez, she asked me.
Jeanne: Uh, who is that?
Ryota: Oh, let me introduce you to our Student Council President, Miyuki Shirogane.
Ryota: Kaichou, this is Jeanne Bellerose, one of the French Exchange Students.
She bows down and spoke in English.
Jeanne: Nice to meet you, Shirogane.
Somehow, Kaichou understands English.
Miyuki: N-Nice to meet you too, Bellerose.
But then he walks away nervously.
Jeanne: Is he okay?
Ryota: I don't know, probably nervous or something.
Jeanne: Oh, is that so?
Ryota: He'll be fine.
Ryota: But deep inside, he's not doing fine!
Jeanne: So, Kaedehara, could you tell me about what you guys do here in Japan?
Ryota: Well, we have lots of traditions here in Japan, like visiting a shrine during the new year, cherry blossom viewing, cultural festivals and many more.
Jeanne: Oh! I know about the shrine visits! It is said that you will visit the shrine every January 1st and wish good luck for the whole year.
Ryota: Oh, it seems you've done your assignment. But that tradition is still far off.......as we're almost summer season now.
Jeanne: Oooh, summer.
Jeanne: I also hear the beaches here in Japan are beautiful!
Ryota: Yep.
Jeanne: I bet you're just after swimsuits.
Ryota: Sorry, but I wouldn't be on the beach this summer.
Jeanne: Eh!? Why not!?
Ryota: My parents, my cousin and I will be visiting my grandparents on the countryside for a week.
Ryota: After that, I'll be busy in the café.
Jeanne: Café? Part-time job?
Ryota: Well, my parents own a café and because of that, I'm actually working there........
Ryota: But I've been banned for 3 weeks.
Jeanne: Why?
Ryota: Because of overwork. They want me to take a break.
Jeanne: I-I see......must be hard for you, huh?
Ryota: It's fine. I understand why they banned me from working for 3 weeks.
Jeanne: Well, let me ask you then.
Jeanne: Do you have someone you like?
Ryota: What!?
Ryota: That really caught me off guard!
Jeanne: Based from your reaction, I take it as.......
Ryota: I really don't have any interest in entering a relationship.......
Ryota: Atleast, not now.
Jeanne: Oh? Break up?
Ryota: No, not exactly a break up.
Ryota: It's..........
Ryota: ........complicated.
Ryota: Well, it's been three years ago since then.
Jeanne: I see.........I wouldn't pry on it any further.
Ryota: Thank you.
Jeanne: But, are you ready to find someone?
Ryota: Well, I don't know.........guess I'll just wait, huh?
Jeanne: Is that so? Well, we all have our own love story, don't you think?
Ryota: Yeah.
Then everyone's attention is on the President and a girl with curly dark purple hair.
I don't know what is she talking about but she's letting out a scary aura.
Ryota: Uh? Who is that girl talking to our student council president?
Jeanne: Oh, that's Betsy, our Student Council Vice President and.......she's talking insults to your student council president.
Ryota: Insults!?
Then I just looked at the prez as he is smiling.
Miyuki: Haha.
Jeanne: What the heck!? He's just smiling and laughing in those endless barrage of insults!?
Ryota: My bet is that he doesn't understand what she is saying but from the tone of the girl talking to the prez, it's totally something unpleasant.
It went on until...........
Shinomiya-san taps Betsy's shoulder with a menacing aura.
Ryota: *gulp*
Ryota: She's toast.
Jeanne: Uh, who is that?
Ryota: Kaguya Shinomiya, our vice-president. Right now, she's totally pissed off right now.
Kaguya: What was that? You.....
Kaguya: Oh, sorry. You don't understand Japanese, do you?
Betsy: *trembles from fear*
Then Shinomiya-san forced Betsy to face her and Shinomiya-san began talking to which Jeanne described as..............
Jeanne: She's menacing Betsy wtih language that can even grab the attention of the Broadcasting Code!
Ryota: I don't wanna know what is the meaning of it but from the looks of it, Betsy is terrified.
Then Betsy runs off and everyone is just silent.
Ryota: Uh......
Jeanne: U-um, can I have another apple cider?
Ryota: S-Sure! Here........
I quietly pour the cider on her glass as she calmly drinks it.
Ryota: Wait, I'm just thinking, is the cider here non-alcoholic?
Jeanne: Yep. Look at the bottle your holding?
Ryota: *inspects the bottle and sees the 0% alcohol*
Ryota: I see. But nah, I'm not drinking this.
Jeanne: In France, there is no drinking age. But if you sell an alcohol to a person who is under 18, the seller shall be penalized.
Ryota: I see. Well, our drinking age here is 20 years old.
Jeanne: I see. Well, as a country that is known for it's discipline and manners.
Then the party went on without any insignificant event until, it ended.
Miyuki: Kaedehara, it seems like you made a friend, huh?
Ryota: Well, I'm just lucky that person knows how to speak English.
Miyuki: Is that so?
Then I noticed that Shinomiya-san is curling up on one of the tables.
Ryota: *sigh*
Ryota: Kaichou.
I tapped his shoulder as I gestured towards her.
Miyuki: Eh?
Ryota: Let me have that.
I took over in carrying the box of plates and helped Fujiwara-san in cleaning up the boxes.
The party ended well, with no fuss or anything.
But I guess......tomorrow is also the day, huh?
Ryota: Summer is almost here.
Ryota: Looks like we'll be changing our uniforms by tomorrow.
Summer..........is coming.
