"Uh oh, what happened to you clumsy?" Katherine asks with a grin as she walks into the house, she and Kol had just gotten back from hunting, not particularly surprised to find Bella sat within the comfort of their home but surprised to see her getting her hand bandaged up by Carlisle.
Katherine walks over to where Bella sits perched upon a table with her wrist in Carlisle hands and stands next to Emmet with a raised eyebrow. Bella was always getting herself hurt, she didn't know a human more prone to getting involved in accidents than her.
"It's just a sprain, it should heal fairly quickly" Carlisle tells the human girl gently, tapping gently at her arm. Katherine and Emmets eyebrows raise higher, how had she managed to sprain her hand?
"Trying to walk and chew gum at the same time again, Bella?" Emmet teases as he hops up onto the table beside her, Kol watching his husband with a shake of his head from his place next to Rosalie on the sofa.
"Or did you trip up the stairs again?" Katherine follows up with her own teasing, her and Emmet sharing smirks. Kol rolls his eyes at his mate and twin, they were far too alike personality wise and together got up to too much mischief. You'd think them two were twins.
"I punched a werewolf in the face" Bella clarifies, a little proud smile on her face. Katherine whistles loudly as Emmet grins at the human. They loved anything to do with someone going against those fluff balls as they couldn't do it themselves. Katherine would pay any money, would even sell her soul, so smack the leader Sam in the mouth.
"Badass" Emmet praises.
"You'd be one tough little newborn" Katherine tells her, a grin on her face as she walks up pats her head before grabbing a book off of the table behind her. Bella narrowing her eyes playfully.
Rosalie watches them carefully from behind her newspaper.
"Tough enough to take you on" before they can reply to Bellas comment, Rosalie chucks her newspaper down onto the table, sending her wife a look and storming outside. The raven haired girl sighs and places her book back down, one day of no dramatics was all she ever asked for.
Bella looks at her nervously, to which Katherine gives her a reassuring smile and another pat before following her mate outside.
"Don't worry about it" Emmet also assures the girl but the human can't help but follow the couple outside after a few moments. Knowing full well it's whatever she said that caused Rosalie to get into a mood.
"love?" Katherine walks out onto the balcony, Rosalie standing completely still looking out towards the woods as she nears her. She wraps her arms around her waist from behind and rests her chin on Rosalie's shoulder.
"What's the matter hm?" Katherine asks making Rosalie sigh as she leans back against her wife. She felt peaceful in her arms until the door behind them opened and she went stiff again. Bella was really starting to piss the blonde off. She had to deal with Katherine and her being touchy as it was, now she couldn't even be alone with her wife.
Bella stands awkwardly at the door as Rosalie speaks, Katherine's arms still around her.
"Go blather to someone else about the joys of becoming a newborn" the blonde woman spits, not even looking at the human girl, she pulls Katherines arms around her a little tighter as she felt her grip loosen. There was once a time where Katherine loved her attitude towards people and loved her meanness, what was changing?
"Okay." Bella sends Katherine an awkward glance, the girl replying once again with a reassuring smile. Rubbing small circles on Rosalie's hips, making the girl feel calmer.
"Rosalie...I don't understand what I did to make you hate me so much" Bella confesses, she didn't like being in these situations but she had to get it out. She didn't want Rosalie to hate her, Rosalie was apart of the family she was about to become apart of and she didn't want any family member to hate her.
"Hate?" Rosalie scoffs lightly. Katherine feels a little awkward in the position shes in, she didn't really know what to do, so opted to stay quite.
"I don't hate you...I don't particularly like you" Rosalie turns to look at the human girl before turning back around to gaze out into the woods. If she looks at her longer than she has to she'd probably say things Katherine would make her regret.
"Bella I envy you." Rosalie confesses, her tone soft and almost vulnerable one that the human girl had never heard before. Bella raises her eyebrows in shock as she stutters over her own words.
"What? That's ridiculous" Bella shakes her head at the girl.
"No, it's not" Rosalie replies back, her voice firm. Katherine looks between the two females before letting go of her wife. This was a private moment, they should spend some time together alone.
"I'll just let you two-"
"No, baby stay" Rosalie quickly grabs her back and pulls her next to her, holding her hand, gently playing with her fingers. Katherine does as her wife wishes and stands by her side for comfort, moving her free hand up to play with the ends of her platinum hair.
"You have a choice" Rosalie continues her speech to Bella, finding peace within her mates touch.
"I didn't. None of us did. But you do, and your choosing wrong" Rosalie tells her, turning to face Bella once again as she speaks. Katherine doesn't say anything as she lets Rosalie stroke her hand gently.
"I don't care how miserable your human life is." The eldest vampires eyes narrow at that as she stares out into the open trees, she knew exactly where this was going to go and she knew it was going to hurt like a bitch. She didn't know how many times she could hear Rosalie talk the way she did before she broke, Rosalie didn't how her hatred for humans and vampirism hurt Katherine but the truth was it broke her heart. And it was for the reason that everyone but Rosalie could see.
"My life is not miserable. It's not perfect, nobody's life is perfect" Bella scoffs lightly, walking forward to stand next to the couple at the railing. On Katherine's side, she was afraid Rosalie might chuck her over the railing.
"Mine was. Absolutely perfect" Rosalie tells her, Bella looks at Katherine but the girls eyes were trained on the banister, looking as though she found it very interesting. She knew Katherine didn't want to intrude but Rosalie wanted her there. She just couldn't help but notice Katherines eyes looking all of a sudden dull and sad, a pang hit her heart.
"There were things I still wanted. To be married with a nice house and a husband to kiss me when I came home. A family of my own" Rosalies eyes glaze over as she drifts into telling the story of her human life to the human girl. Even though Katherine's grip tightens in order to comfort her wife through telling her tragic story, she couldn't help but feel her stomach drop as she mentions husband. If it was a choice Rosalie would be with a man, she knew that.
"Royce king was the most eligible bachelor in town. I barely knew him...but I was young. I was in love with the idea of love" Royce king was the towns local arsehole that took advantage of many women, he left them traumatised and unable to speak out thanks to his large stack of wealth that sorted many of his problems. Katherine would give anything to watch as he burns, flesh melting, screams echoing. She hopes that's what's happening to him in hell.
"On the last night of my life, I left a friends house late, I wasn't far from home..." at this Katherine lets out a small growl, nuzzling herself into her wife's side. Bella instantly knew what had happened to Rosalie that night and felt deeply sorry for the blonde vampire. She was gang raped, tortured and left for dead.
"They left me in the street, thinking I was dead. Believe me I wanted to be. Carlisle found me he smelled all the blood, thought he was helping me" the blonde haired vampires words made a sickly feeling flow through Bella, she couldn't imagine what Rose had gone through. Her mind plays back to the night she was cornered by those group of boys, if Edward hadn't have gotten there that could've been her.
"I'm sorry"
"I got my revenge on them. One at a time. Saved Royce for last so he'd know I was coming...I was a little theatrical back then" Rosalie smirks a little, thinking of how she made those vile men paranoid and then killed her ex fiancé in her wedding dress she was supposed to wear. It was so artistic, she was still so proud of it to this day.
"Things got better after I met Katherine..." she looks at the raven haired girl beside her with so much love and affection, Katherine smiles back as she kisses her cheek lightly. She wishes she could take away all her pain, if she could take it for herself so rose would never feel pain again she would.
"From the moment I met her... god I was head over heels for her." She turns to look at Bella once more, a smile still on her face as she reminisces about her first meeting with Katherine. She had quite literally pinned her to the ground only to be knocked off and pinned back, the second Rosalie saw those ruby eyes and heard that silky British accent, she was practically a puddle in Katherines hands. Katherine was the only one who could melt away her cold exterior and not only because her gift was fire.
Rosalie's smile fades slightly as she speaks again.
"But we'll always be this. Frozen. Never moving forward" she grips Katherines hand as she watches the trees sway in the breeze.
"That's what I miss the most. Possibilities. Sitting on a front porch somewhere. Katherine, grey-haired by my side. Surrounded by our grandchildren. Their laughter" at Rosalie's words, Katherine bit her lip slightly anxious, she had talked many times with Rose about children and the future but she always turned her down because of her own fears. Rosalie of course understood and would never pressure her into anything but it still made Katherine feel slightly guilty. She wasn't human nor a man, she could never give her biological children like she dreamed of, she also didn't think she was ready for the responsibility of ever having a child or the consequences that would come with it.
Death.
Old age.
Immortal children.
Was a child worth so much grief for someone who
will live for eternity?
"I understand that that's what you want. There's nothing I'm ever gonna want more...than Edward" as Bella says this Rosalie side eyes her, a small sigh leaving her lips.
"You're wrong again. After you've been changed, there's one thing you'll want more. One thing you'll kill for. Blood." Rosalie turns towards Katherine and enlaces their fingers before tugging her away. The Williams girl giving Bella a smile the girl sending her one back, watching as Rose leads her off of the balcony. An unexplainable put in her stomach as they both disappear.
Rose leads them to their bedroom, not looking at the family as they send her pitiful looks, hearing her story from inside.
She pulls Katherine into their bedroom and locks the door before practically collapsing in her wife's arms.
Katherine holds her tightly in her grip and moves them swiftly so they are laying on their bed, Rosalie's head on her chest as she soothingly runs her fingers through her blonde locks.
"I'm proud of you love" Katherine kisses her forehead gently, Rosalie humming softly as she snuggles into Katherines embrace, she didn't like telling her story but Bella needed to understand somewhat why she was the way she was with her. She also hoped it would keep her away from Katherine, maybe slipping in a Katherine horror story would scare her away from her. No, she could never do that to her wife over petty jealousy.
"I love you kat" she leans up and kisses Katherine's cheek before snuggling back into her again.
"You too Rosalie "
