"So is the White fort, gentlemen" the old man's raspy voice made Willow mentally facepalm.bHis voice doesn't sound convincing at all.

The white fort, a castle situated near the forest with it's walls acting as the boundary between the monster forest and the human realm. Due to its location, it was not ideal to defend so they are going to abandon it while planting explosives to deal damage to the horde of beasts.

"Are you certain, sir Oswald?" the commander of the East raised their doubts.

The emperor let out a chuckle and defended the old man for old times sake as well as his anticipation on what to happen.

"Never mind that gentlemen. It was just a decoy. It would be an insignificant change so it will do just fine. It would not matter if it's occupied or not"

Willow hid her smirk and continued to placate the others through belittling herself to boost their confidence.

After an hour of flattering and smiling, the unwelcomed meeting was soon a drunken mess so Willow excused herself out.

Gentle breeze hit her bare skin and for the first time in that day, she was thankful for her fully clothed attire.

When she got back in the ball, she knew that her troops already slipped away with whatever pretense.
Willow had a hunch that they just changed setting because the stiff gathering does not match their liking.

As she is nearing the temporary camp of the soldiers, Willow could already see the familiar faces around the fire and some drunken mess dancing with the troubadours.

On her way to mingle with them, she heard coughing fits beside her and saw Cyrus spewing the living guts out of him. Willow facepalmed at his helplessness but still extended a hand.

"Foolish" she mumbled but stretched her arms to support him.

"Just how much did you fools drink to be in this state" she rubbed his back and gave a pint of water.

"ah, captain!" Cyrus tactlessly blurted when he recognized her face.

"You,... You" he stated while swaying on his feet.

Willow shook her head to the drunken mess and decided to support him, intending to let him rest in a tent.

"Yeah, yeah... just shut up already" she chided.

"You're always like that, going off... to somewhere far-"He continued to blab.

"But of course,... It's my duty" she answered without dwelling too much.

"How could you always leave us easily-" he slurred while seemingly dwelling hard on his thoughts.

Willow planned to make her way to the courtyard and let him rest on one of the tents prepared for their accommodation but was stopped by another drunken mess. Kara came into view.

"Ah! Captain!"

Kara made a bee line to their direction and placed herself beside Cyrus.

"What did this buffoon blabbered? Did he bothered you in anyways? I can bury him if you want" she giggled at her own words and hit Cyrus's back in a joking manner. The latter groaned at being disturbed and mumbles something incomprehensible.

"I can consider if it's the two of you on that pit" she casually answered and pulled Kara at her side. "Now rest before I make you"

Kara didn't listen and blabbered everything that happened while she's away.

"I am very excited at the ball because it was my first time to attend but you know, those skinny hawks.. and those pig like bastards really killed the mood. Who would even want to dance with those old bellied geezers. They should atleast take a bath before coming, you know." She continued on and on but Willow didn't bother to answer.

'This is pointless' Willow thought as she was burdened at carrying their weight. She looked from side to side and when confirming that no one was around, she concealed their bodies within her magic and glided towards an empty tent.

Willow will not be bothered to burden her body when magic could surely make it easier.

She finally let her self rest after both fell into deep oblivion as fast as they hit the sack. Willow lay herself beside Kara and decided to call it a day.

Unfortunately, after hours of tossing around, she groaned in frustration and stood up. The curiosity made her mind overthink. In order to find peace with her brain, she decided to follow through her instinct and find the cause of the mana surge.

Through the use of her magic, Willow easily traversed the shadows and ended on a dark alley. She composed herself before making her way out.

As she walk naturally under the midnight moon, she covertly walk by the sides to get to her destination. Willow arrived at the location where mana surge occurred but after a quick glance, she noticed the dreary atmosphere.

The streetlight looked dimmer than usual, stalls were suspiciously closed early and no person can be seen loitering around. The only sign of a living thing closest to the scene was a drunkard passed out by the corner.

She tapped the drunkards face once, twice, thrice until he grounded on being disturbed.

"W-what?" He slurred with unconfused eyes.

"What happened there" she pointed at the space with barricade on it. Cracks on the ground and walls were also visible.

It might be seen as something trivial to passerby but the length, width and depth of those cracks upon closer inspection is doubtful. It is clear that something blew up on that spot.

She shook him by the collar when he seems to go back into a blissful sleep. "Answer me, what happened there."

She let her malice out and glared to the poor man. With too much bloodlust thrown to him, he seems to be drenched in water, cold sweat, trinkled down his forehead and he stuttered while looking at her in fright.

"Wha-what do you want?" he spoke in fear

"what happened there?" she stared straight into his eyes with a dead stare.

"I-I-I don't know" he scuffled with four limbs and scurried. He fell plenty of times but didn't stop, he desperately clawed his way out from Willow's sight.

She could only click her tongue at his cowardice and stood Infront of the barrier

"Oya?" someone spoke.
