The Hogwarts Express was as chaotic and frenzied as Emerald had been expecting only with far less space ,she had never been one for patience so as she took off striding through the carriages in her heeled black boots with her head held high and nose down people started to move out of her way ,whispering to each other
"No way ,whose the new girl?"
"Bet she's a slytherin"
"She's fit"
"If anyone was going to make me straight it would be her"
Emerald bit her cheek to keep herself from laughing at the last comment
Desperate ...the lot of them ,she thought to herself as she found herself walking towards the compartments ,deciding she was tired of walking she opened the first one she came to ,setting her chocolate coloured eyes onto another honey coloured pair. The girl in the carriage was slim with brown hair and a timid expression wearing a green satin blouse ,black denim skirt and chunky boots, she noticed she was writing in a slytherin notebook she raised her eyes at the taller girl as she heard her slide open the door
"Heya I'm Emerald Gaunt"
"sorry to barge in like this but I'm new and I don't know anyone" she laughed showing off her perfect white teeth with a genuine smile
Pansy's jaw dropped slightly at the mention of her name but she quickly regained her composure
"Hi Emerald ,I'm Pansy Parkinson , Slytherin"the girl smiled back "you're more than welcome to sit with me if you want?" she said looking down
"Brilliant thanks Pansy" she looked around "you sure your friends won't mind?" She tested
Pansy looked down and couldn't meet her eye something which didn't go unnoticed with Emerald
"Err ...actually the Slytherin lot don't really like to hang around with me" she kept her head down
"Why the hell not?" Emerald asked surprised
"Went out with a muggleborn boy in fourth year now they think I'm a blood traitor" she said sadly
"Was he handsome?" Emerald smirked
Pansys head shot up clearly expecting Emerald to have the same attitude as her fellow housemates.
"Err yeah I'd say so he was a quidditch player so muscles for days and the jawline..."
"Then what's the problem?" she smirked "can't have a new friend with no taste in guys now can we?" she winked at Pansy
Pansy giggled and winked back ,for the rest of the journey they shared stories about their childhoods and even shared a packet of Bertie bots every flavour beans ,soon the conversation moved onto houses.
"I'm guessing you'll be a Slytherin then because of your bloodline" Pansy said excitedly
"Let's hope so" Emerald laughed "or grandad will have a fit" they both burst out laughing.
"So.." started Emerald "seeing as we're the same age ,how's everyone else in your house and year" she questioned
"Well there's quite a few that just keep their head down" she explained " the ones that aren't part of the Sacred 28 mostly, they are the real pure blood elitists if you ask me ,real douchebags....her eyes widened
"Not you obviously you're fine ,not fine great in fact I just meant..."
"Pansy it's fine" Emerald laughed "pretty sure you're on the sacred 28 too we can be douchebags together" they both giggled
"The ones you've really got to watch out for are Vincent Crabbe ,Gregory Goyle and Draco Malfoy ,they're the real assholes, think they own the place.."
Em's face screwed up at the mention of Malfoy they'd never got on when they'd met at any pure blood parties mainly due to the fact Emerald believed Malfoy was quite frankly the biggest coward around.
"Then there's the Greengrasses..." Pansy carried on "Daphne's alright it's Astoria that will pick you apart like nothing else, made a 7th year Gryffindor cry the other day for no reason what so ever , gotta be careful with her Em" she warned
"I'm sure I can handle her" she smirked
"Let's see who else ,oh the quiddich captain Marcus Flint ,he's okay just don't go near him near quidditch times he'll tear your head off oh and don't mention the 'O' word to him" she said using her fingers as quotation marks
"The O word?"
"Oliver Wood"
"Who's Oliver Wood?" Emerald asked.
"Gryffindor Captain" she said simply "fit fit fit if you ask me"
"I look forward to meeting him then" Em grinned
"Who else ,err Theo Nott ,quite quiet, follows Malfoy around like a sheep but never gets involved in any of their shenanigans........Adrian Pucey ,chaser, Graham Montague......"
Emerald zoned out knowing she wouldn't even be able to begin to remember all these names ,I wonder if they'll have meringue at the feast she thought to herself sipping on her pumpkin juice
"Blaise Zabini
Emeralds head snapped up
"WHAT" she exclaimed
"Blaise Zabini ,why do you know him" Pansy asked confused
"Know him?!? ......he's my best friend or at least he was before we moved" she sighed
"lived right next door to each other saw each other everyday, he probably knew me better than I knew myself" she said with a small smile
"Holy cow" Pansy breathed "YOURE Em?"
"I guess so?"Emerald asked
"THE Em?"
"I guess so"
"Oh my merlin he used to talk about you nonstop saying how clever and powerful and brave you were" she said excitedly
"He did?"
Pansy nodded "he did. Oh Emerald he's going to be thrilled!"
Emerald beamed excitedly ,she'd made a new friend and hadn't even had to set any pure blood snobs back in their place ,How's that for being on my best behaviour hey dad she thought to herself
"Oooh look we're here" Pansy said looking out the window
"Well here goes nothing"
