monday rolled around and before jisung knew it he was stepping into the elevator of his office building with major annoyance radiating off him in waves. why couldn't weekends be three days?

he suffered through his morning until the caffeine finally kicked in and added a pep to his step. quite literally as jisung was now hopping and pacing around his office, running unnecessary errands such as throwing his empty coffe cups in the recycling bin at the end of the hallway instead of the one under his desk.

jisung was not only hyper because of his high caffeine intake though. minho had texted him a bunch of cute, encouraging  messages that left a giddy feeling in jisung's stomach. jisung tried, and failed, to deny his growing feelings for the cat-lover and decided to instead obsess over whether minho truly liked him. the attraction the older felt towards him was undoubtedly present, but was it only skin deep? for goodness sake, jisung had a child, if minho were to eventually lose interest it would not only hurt jisung but soomin as well. the girl might not show it but jisung could tell she was also growing fond of minho.

'whatever, let's just see how this goes. we could literally just stay friends, romantic relationships suck anyways,' jisung concluded as he finished his work for the day and left his office building.

he was texting seungmin, a friend he made when soomin was in preschool, as he walked to soomin's school. soomin had introduced seungmin as 'the papa of my friend' and the two 'papas' had been quite surprised to learn the other was a parent, considering jisung was twenty and seungmin was nineteen at the time. the two hit it off immediately, exchanging numbers after talking for a bit, and have been close friends ever since.

seungmin's story was similar to jisung's, except instead of seungmin's boyfriend ditching him like jisung's had, the two became even closer and raised their son together. jisung had met hyunjin, seungmin's boyfriend, a couple times and although the two didn't get along as well as he did with seungmin, jisung could tell hyunjin loved seungmin and hyunsuk, their son. they were a happy family and jisung couldn't help but feel envious at times. of course he'd shoo the feeling away and reassure himself that everything happens for a reason, even when you don't know that reason, even when it doesn't seem fair, even if-

"jisung, is that you?" a voice jisung recognized immediately called out, pulling him out of his spiraling thoughts.

he looked up to see minho waving at him wearing sharp black and white suit with a smile adorning his face and jisung couldn't help but blush. the man was way too handsome for his own good.

"hey minho." jisung smiled back, putting his phone in his back pocket. "what brings you here?"

"well, i just finished work and left my office which is right there," minho pointed to a building the two stood in front of, "and saw you so i thought i'd say hi. what brings you here?"

"well my office is over there," this time jisung pointed to one of the buildings a ways down the street, "and i was headed to pick up soomin from school."

"i'll drive you if you want." the older offered, whipping out his car keys.

"no, it's okay. i don't want to bother you." jisung shook his head, gripping his work bag tightly as he answered.

"it's really no problem, i'd love to and it means i get to spend more time with you." minho smirked as the younger blushed a deeper red at his words, holding onto his bag like a lifeline.

"okay then, sure." jisung mumbled, walking forward and refusing to look the older in the eye at this point.

"uhh, jisung?"

"yeah."

"my car's this way."

the pair chatted about bookish things on the ride to soomin's school, comparing their experiences working in publishing firms. minho learned jisung enjoyed reading sentimental, angsty books and jisung learned minho preffered watching horror movies. the older blabbed about the glory of well-made horror stories and what he'd do if he created one  of his own.

"supernatural shit is overrated now. we need a break from all that and a taste of realistic horror."

"but isn't that way scarier?"

"that's the point!"

jisung shuddered.

"i watched this one movie where a toddler was locked up alone in a house and it basically played out all the dangers that could happen in the situation. like getting stuck in the fridge, using the stove, using knives-"

"stop! stop, soomin's school is right here thank you. i'll go pick her up now and come back." a pale jisung hopped out of the vehicle and practically ran into soomin's school, leaving a confused and slightly concerned minho in the car. his brows furrowed as he tried to understand what had caused jisung's frightened reaction. perhaps he wasn't a fan of horror? but he had let minho ramble about the genre for most of the car ride.

'he probably didn't want to seem rude,' minho thought as he watched jisung walk out of the school while fussing over a grumpy-looking soomin.

'oh wait i'm an idiot.' minho realized he had literally recounted some of a parent's worst nightmares to jisung who just so happened to be a parent, and probably not a fan of horror.

ughhhh.

jisung and soomin entered the car, jisung still looking slightly shaken and soomin looking slightly less grumpy having seen minho would drive them home.

"hello mr. minho"

"hi ms. soomin."

"do you know why papa looks like there's ants in his pants?"

"um. well i am very sorry but i think i scared your papa by telling him some scary stories."

"no shit." jisung mumbled, audible for only minho to hear.

"oh yeah, papa doesn't like horror. he can't even watch the corpse bride with me cause he says it's too creepy and-"

"i think that's enough soomin." jisung interrupts, red as ever and barely covering his wide spread blush with his hands.

minho started the car and drove towards jisung and soomin's apartment, whose route was saved on his car's gps.

"why didn't you tell me you didn't like horror? i feel like a major asshole for giving you a whole lecture on it when you were probably terrified the whole time." minho whispered so soomin wouldn't hear, who happened to be looking out the window pretending not to listen in to their conversation.

"because you were so passionate about it and i didn't want to make you stop because i know you like it. plus, the only thing that really freaked me out was the child locked in the house. and maybe the clowns too . . and the psycho murderers . . ."

"well i'm flattered but we don't have to talk about that if it makes you uncomfortable, alright?"

"yeah."

"so what are your favourite reads?"

jisung could go on and on about them all, and so he did.
