He sneaked out on me this morning. I'm trying so hard to keep my irritation in check since the moment I've stepped into the office but on top of everything, it's been three days and I'm still not used to seeing Alyssa's face constantly.

I tried to convince Eric to let me keep the isolated desk but he said that it doesn't reflect well now that I don't have anyone to supervise anymore, so I don't need the extra space. It feels like I'm in middle school again forced to sit with someone I don't like.

"Do you ever get tired of that face you make?" Alyssa's annoying voice hits my ears.

"Do you ever get tired of hearing your own voice? Shut up." I grumble at her.

I'm in a seriously fucked up mood today since the moment I woke up. It's kind of become a routine to wake up next to Blake these days, whether it's in my bed or his. I think we mostly like to keep it alternative days so that there's a balance. It's an unsaid rule.

So, after last night, naturally I reached out for him in my sleepy state this morning but then my hand landed on a cold bed. I thought he must've been up before me but then there was absolutely no trace of Blake even after Nick came back from his run.

He made such a big deal when I sneaked out on him but then he did the same this morning. I have been constantly racking my brain for something I could've said last night to make him do it, but there's nothing I can come up with.

Now, I might've been overreacting but he didn't leave a note, or hasn't even texted me which is... unsettling. I would've texted him myself but I don't want to appear like a clingy... girlfriend. Fuck these terms.

"Are you two done with the hiring documentation for the conference?" Parker asks, standing over our heads.

Alyssa nods at him with a smile while I try to answer to him without letting my pissed off tone be evident. "Yeah, mailed it to Eric and you both."

"Good. There's some external recruitment which needs to take place so be ready to conduct interviews tomorrow." He informs us before moving away.

Parker and Eric both are the department heads of HR for the conference, and I'm just wondering how is that going to go down. Alyssa and I can barely stand each other so I can't imagine how they would be.

"So, who are you bringing as a date to the dinner now that Genesis dumped your ass?" Alyssa smirks at me while I just scowl at her.

If only people knew who dumped whom. There has to be a way for all of this smugness she's wearing to go away. But I don't want to create more trouble for myself. My mind does that for me already.

"Wait, what dinner?" I ask, processing what she actually said.

"On the last day there's a formal dinner event. The company has booked a huge fancy ass place to impress the sponsors."

Her words make me scoff. "Of course, there is. Let me guess, it was Genesis's idea?"

"Yup." She smirks. "She pitched it to the CEO, and she immediately agreed."

"Figured." I roll my eyes before planning a schedule for tomorrow's interview.

I drop a mail to Eric to send me list of job listings for tomorrow so I can prepare accordingly. His reply comes to me half an hour later so I get started on the work. I think about Alyssa's words of bringing a date but there's only one face that pops up in my head.

Out of habit, I check my phone again and there's absolutely no notifications. I huff before getting up to make a few copies. I'm not even sure why Blake bothers me so much. Actually, he bothers me more than Genesis ever did, which is surprising.
