Hello you! 😀 If you are reading this, here's a big "thank you" from me to you ♥️🌟

When I published the first chapter of this story (May 31, 2020), I never thought people would even bother to read it. I was like, who would be interested in reading about a brown-skinned girl's struggles with colorism? But then each read, vote, and comment from you guys became my driving force for writing continuously and today (Aug 17, 2020), I have actually completed the book. This is huge! It makes me feel like I've finally done something worthwhile in 2020 😛😁

Even if I write more stories in the future, B.O.A.T will always be my baby because Ilhaam is very much similar to me. Through her overdramatized character, I spoke about the colorism experiences that I've faced, the issues of an introvert, the insecurities of a brown-skinned girl and a lot more.

While this book is just fiction, I would like to remind you that the underlying social issue is absolutely real. Colorism is there, it's always been there, and it will continue to be there until we consciously put an effort to end it.

It doesn't matter whether you are brown-skinned, tan-skinned or fair-skinned —colorism is an issue that needs to be addressed by everyone, regardless of your skin tone. Let's not continue the toxic legacy of making someone feel inferior because of a natural feature that they were born with. It's time that we join hands and create positive change around the world ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻

Let's spread kindness as much as possible and empower each other 🙏🏾💫 Much love to all of you ♥️
