A distant astronomer from far off nowhere
Marvels at the extraordinary possibilities;
Many discoveries made, many still to come.
Yet one discovery remains beyond elusive,
Confounding this scientist and all the others;
Search as they might, no evidence yet,
That sentient life exists out there;
Though the cosmos be an expansive place,
It appears that it is an arrant wilderness,
Promising solar systems and planets
Exist everywhere one points one's lens,
Yet no sign of intelligent life anywhere,
Including that 8-planet system and iron planet-III
Around that fifth-magnitude star G2V.
