Terror in Edmonton

Terror now in Edmonton,
that's as close to home
as it can be, without
a bullet entering me.

Someone felt the need
to take a vehicle,
used it as a weapon,
to run an officer down

Then stabbed at him
as he lay there
crumpled on the ground,
a victim set upon.

Discovered later,
driving in a U-Haul,
he fled away to find
other victims in his way.

Four more sent to hospital,
though scarred for life,
that makes five total,
all of whom will survive.

It's so, so visceral now,
terror arrived on our streets
only a few blocks from here, a man
felt the need to run someone down.
