This Is No Ordinary Love

Start from the beginning

"Johnny will be here in a bit." She said suddenly breaking the silence.

"You want me to make lunch for you guys?" I asked as I played with the bracelet on her wrist.

"Yeah." She said looking down at me an dsmiling. "You'll be happy to know we're going to be doing some writing."

"It will be nice to hear your music in the house again." I said softly.

She responding by setting the book down and leaning down to kiss me on the lips. It was a loving kiss. The kind that put your mind at ease and held you firmly in place. She broke into a smile and started laughing. I couldn't help but smile with her. She was genuinely happy and it showed. Her happiness made me happy.

He didn't bother knocking. He never did. He always walked in and made himself at home. He'd been hanging out with Demi a lot lately. They had started writing together which was odd. She usually did most of her writing with Nick or Matt. Nick was basically no where to be found and Matt was busy being a dad. They were an interesting writing partnership. They both say there playing guitar and singing random lyrics until it all just sort of smashed together and made a song.

This is my open open letter

Demi sang as they both played guitar. I loved watching her play. Especially when she sang. She had such a strong and beautiful voice. It was effortless.

This is something to remember
I won't be buried before my time
I'm not searching for forever
I've got my eyes open wide

I was surprised when Johnny cut in and started singing. I'd never heard him sing before and I found his voice to be quite pleasing. Their music always sounded so different acoustically. It was emotional and raw. I was used to the loud and heavy aspect of the band. It amazed me how the songs sounded so different stripped down.

I've been searching under rubble from the past
Searching for a reason to make your life last
No need to look skyward for you to find hope
No need for redemption to be saved from the rope

Demi joined Johnny for what I assumed was the chorus. Their harmonies were amazing. She made eye contact with me and smiled as she sang the lyrics. I had no doubt she'd written them since I recognized them from her phone. They were about me.

I'm not searching the sky for a reason to live
I found beauty right here and a passion to give
Let me give you my heart
Let me give you my tears
Let me give you my life
Let me give you my fears

Johnny once again took over singing while Demi just played. He looked at her while he sang and that's when I realized that he had probably written his parts of this song about or for Demi. Which made sense. Matt often wrote about her struggles as well. They all had very strong feelings about the situation and as musicians, they wrote about it. She didn't mind and I didn't think they'd really care anyway.

Just so you can hold on and sing while I do
Sing these words like I sing them for you
This is your open letter
Something to remember
This is my open letter
I'm not searching for forever

They sang the chorus a few more times and stopped playing. The looks on their faces told me they were pleased. I couldn't help but clap like an idiot.

"That's a beautiful song. I love it." I smiled.

"Johnny wrote most of it." Demi responded. "I wrote the chorus. The rest was all his."

"The message is amazing. The fans will love it." I spoke turning toward him.

"It'll sound a little different when it's finished." He grinned. "I'm glad you approve Sel."
