Chapter Two

A week after meeting Demi for the first time, she agreed to join the band. I was curious to see how this would go. Nick and Joe had always had creative control and based on the conversation she and Nick had at that party, that wouldn't fly wih her. She insisted on having creative input. In all honesty, it might actually be beneficial. Nick and Joe have a very generic sound. I know that Matt and Johnny have been getting frustrated with them for quite some time. I'm pretty sure Ian, the former guitarist's departure had something to do with the lack of input he had in the creative process.

I had known Matt for as long as I'd known Nick. I actually found Matt to be much more attractive, but that's a whole different story. He was tall with dark hair and brownish-green eyes. He was covered in tattoos and he took good care of his body. I mean really good care of his body. I'm talking protein shakes, healthy eating, and bench press your entire house kind of stuff. He spent most of the time at rehearsals shirtless and I'm not gonna say it bothered me.

Johnny I met a year or so after Matt. He ended up joining band after Nicks oldest brother Kevin quit. He was reasonably attractive and out of all of them, was probably the wildest of the bunch. He usually had his dyed random crazy colors and it was currently cut into a mohawk. A very messy one at that. Just like his band mates, he was covered in tattoos. He and Nick were the youngest of the group so Matt and Joe teased them relentlessly.

Which brings me to Joe. He was just...Joe. He never took anything seriously and he had a tendency to be a douche. His dick like tendencies were further provoked by Demi's presence. They did not like each other. At all. In fact the first two hours of rehearsals, and I use that term loosely, were spent trying to get the two of them to stop being assholes to each other.

"Eyebrows Joe. There should be two of them." She smirked as she leaned against a rack of guitars she had brought to the rehearsal space.

"I have two eyebrows dumbass." Joe shot back.

"Aww...." Demi said sticking out her bottom lip. "Did I hurt Burt's little feelings?" She teased.

"This is exactly what I'm talking about!" Joe said turning his attention to Nick. "She's childish." He mumbled.

Demi continued to purposely try to irritate him. I could tell she was doing it on purpose because she had a mischievous look in her eyes and every time she got the reaction she was looking for, she let out a raspy laugh. She caught me staring at her and gave me a wink while holding her finger to her lips.

Matt and Johnny were both laughing and Nick looked like he'd rather be anywhere else.

They eventually stopped and the bands very first song was written immediately afterward. It was about how much they hated each other. It took Demi all of five minutes to write the entire thing. It wasn't until they started composing the music that I realized they had something special. They all seemed to click.

"I just wanna slam out some power chords in drop g." Demi stated before walking over to a rack that held several of her guitars. She settled on a distressed red and black Gibson SG and slung it over her shoulder. It looked completely beat up.

She plugged it into the amp and ran her finger in a downward motion across the strings. It made a chugging sound and she nodded her head. Apparently she liked what she heard. I sat quietly and watched as she positioned her hand on the fret board and started to strum. Her fingers moved over the strings with ease and comfort. Nick quickly followed with a thundering drum beat and Johnny added a bass line that was so low it made a clicking sound. Matt was bobbing his head and he started to hum and sing what sounded like gibberish over the music. Joe was the last to join in and I couldn't help but smile. They were on to something and judging by the look on each of their faces they knew it too.
