1 what inspired the idea of your story?
The Netflix show THE LAST KINGDOM as well as my deep love/curiosity of Viking history
2 what is something you struggled constructing with your story?
I struggled with keeping the action up and not letting the story lag in the middle. Timeline was also a struggle and has been fun to sort through in edits.
3 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?
The characters and the world. I've never written anything like the world of Volheimer or my characters of Alarik or Refkell. Going back and editing has made me love it all over again.
4 what's the overall response of your story from your readers?
I'd say it's been very good overall! I can't thank my readers enough for supporting the story.
5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series ?
It is currently a stand alone. But I wouldn't be against a sequel or add-on story.
6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?
As in everything I write, I want my readers to know that found family is just as important (if not more) than the family you're born into. And that love — whether that be to a friend or partner — is a very powerful emotion.
7 what advice would you provide to fellow writers, when it comes to focusing on their own story?
Just go for it! As cliche as it sounds, getting the words down is the most important thing. Tell yourself the story first, you can polish it up later.
8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?
Out of all of my female MC's, I think Bria is the most similar to me. Our mannerisms are similar and her deep empathy and love is very much like me.
9 what is something about your story you believe would draw in new readers?
Think Vikings, blood and battle, magic and love, betrayal and power
10 do you have any future projects?
I do! I currently have 2 ongoing projects (one being for the Open Novella Contest). Due to COVID-19, however, I haven't been in the right state of mine to write anything. But I'll get there! Stay safe everyone!
