Chapter Five

Pic of Brian------>

First day of school

(Elsie's P.O.V)

“How are you still sleeping?” Someone’s finger pressed on the side of my cheek, and I looked up to see Grace. Closing my eyes, I opened them hoping that she would disappear. Her face was still in front of me. I groaned trying to get up while taking a quick look at the time that read it was 6:45. How was that even late? Again, my eyes went to Grace and I saw that she was completely dressed. Where was she going?

“Why are you waking me up at 6:45, Grace?” She stayed quiet and turned away from me as if she was going to leave. There was no way she was leaving before telling me why. I almost got her, but my hand hit something big and bulky. In front of me was a large black book bag. Oh okay, she must be going to school. I looked back at the time reaching seven quickly. School starts today doesn’t it?

“You have fifteen minutes, before we leave” She looked at the clock and said, “Now ten minutes. We will leave without you so hurry your ass up” With that she walked to the door and closed it. She has never talked to me like that before. I couldn’t think about that now, I had to get dressed.

I look around my room and pick up a towel before heading to the bathroom. Trying to open the door, I felt it was locked. Come on. I knocked on the door. “Occupied” It was Brian. This was the only bathroom, so I had nothing to do until he left.

 I went back to my room. Passing by my mirror, I caught a quick glance. I barely even looked at my face nowadays, because of how much I resemble my mother. Today I chanced a look. Yeah, I resembled my mother with her round face, eyes, the dimple on my right side of my cheek, and her long brown hair, but for some reason today my features were getting a little more defined. Not saying that I was not pretty because I am, but everything seemed to fit. My face that everyone would say still looked like a baby, turned into a grownup version of me.

“The bathroom’s all yours” I looked at the clock one more time. Great, now I have eight minutes to get ready. I quickly showered and got dressed to go. Walking down the stairs, I noticed that there was a bowl of cereal already out and my stomach growled. I walked towards the bowl, but I was pushed a different direction.

“Hey, I haven’t eaten breakfast yet” I planted my feet on the ground and turned to see who pushed me but I only got to see someone’s chest. I didn’t have to look up to see that it was Brian. He went around and grabbed the keys and started walking towards his car. Grace quickly walked behind him. I stood there about to go and eat when I heard an engine cut on. They wouldn’t leave would they? Just in case, I ran out the door forgetting about the food and sure enough the car started to back away.

“Hey wait” I yelled for them to stop. I ran to the car and got in. While I was trying to catch a breath I saw in the rearview mirror before me that the both of them were trying not to laugh. Yeah, that was really funny guys. They couldn’t keep it in and the both of them started to laugh.

“I told you we would leave your ass” I saw Grace in a new light. She threw me something and I caught it. Looking down at my hand I saw a cereal bar. At least, I wouldn’t be hungry.

“Who are you?” I asked her. She just smirked and turned to face the front again. Over the few weeks that I have been here with the Robinsons, I have gotten to know them a little more. Grace seemed to be quiet and withdrawn especially towards me, but from today on I feel everything I know about her would change. Brian on the other hand, he was jumpy and sometimes he will be cool and other times he was cold, so it was like night and day with him. Megan and Matthew the forever loving couple was still them except for Megan began to relax around me which was good.
