tw: troubling thoughts

previously:

He felt a sudden rush of déjà vu to earlier when Roman had opened the door to the pizza parlor for him. He thought about Roman's cheeky smile.

He couldn't stop himself from blushing at the similarities between the two events.

Surely it was just Roman being himself.

Ugh, stop thinking about this. Virgil mentally scolded himself.

He couldn't help but feeling like he was oblivious to something so obvious.

"You're just overthinking things." He mumbled to himself. "Go to bed and forget about it."

Despite telling himself to go to bed, he continued to think about it early into the morning until he finally let his heavy eyelids fall shut and his mind wander to a calmingly blank state.

Virgil woke to the smell of food.

"Mm." He let out a soft hum and smiled.

The man was weirded out by how strangely rested he felt and turned to check the time. It was nearly 10:00.

He reluctantly rolled out of the warmth of the bed and made himself look somewhat presentable.

He opened the door and walked out to see Roman, who was standing shirtless in the kitchen.

Virgil couldn't help but blush.

You're being so gay right now, Virgil thought. Stop blushing, you're acting like a teenager. Plus, you just broke up with Logan the other day, you're not ready for another relationship.

Roman must have noticed Virgil's lurking silently in the doorway of the guest room.

"Good morning to you, sleeping beauty." The taller man smiled at the shorter, who blushed a darker red in response.

"Good morning." Virgil feigned a yawn and rubbed at his eyes.

"I've made breakfast already, I put yours in the microwave so it would stay warm." Roman nodded to the microwave above the stove.

"Thanks." Virgil replied. He thought for a moment before continuing to talk. "You know, yesterday reminded me a lot of Logan and I's first date." His tone grew softer.

"Oh?" Roman asked raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah." Virgil forked an egg, watching the yolk spill out from the inside. He smiled childishly, giggling quietly.

"If you don't mind me asking, how so?" Roman asked, he smiled at Virgil somewhat childish behavior and adorable smile.

"When you opened the door for me, he did that too. He always opened doors for me." Virgil's smile started to fade, his voice growing softer at the memories.

He couldn't decide if they were happy memories or sad memories, and, frankly, he didn't want to.

"Oh, Virge, I'm sorry. I wanted to distract you from thinking about Logan, I didn't mean to upset you." Roman's soft chocolate eyes glittered with slight remorse and sympathy.
"Please forgive me."

Virgil sighed, setting his fork down in the puddle of yellow egg innards on his plate and rubbing his eyes.

"Virgil, please stop rubbing your eyes. It's not good for you." Roman said gently, reaching his freehand out to move Virgil's hands away from his face.

"I really miss him, Ro." Virgil sniffed, his eyes watery.

"I know, Vee. I know." Roman didn't know what else to say that would comfort his friend. "Hey, how about I take you out of the city later tonight? I know a lovely little place a while out. We can have a picnic."

Virgil just barely nodded his head, wiping his eyes free of tears.

"That sounds nice." He replied.

"Alright, then it's settled. We shall picnic tonight." Roman smiled to the shorter man.
