Unexpected Love

•Chapter Twelve•

After breakfast Nik had told Ell it was time to leave but she wasn't having it. "I don't want to" she pouted a little bit. "Can't we stay a little longer?" Ell asked.

Nik sighed rubbing between his eyes, he was going through enough already he didn't want Ell back talking. "Ell, you're going to have to come home sooner or later" he said.

"How about later?" Miya spoke up. "I mean I can bring her home later, the park here is nice so you don't need to worry" Miya added. She knew Nick wasn't having it but she wanted to try for Ell, she shouldn't have to be cooped up in a apartment. Not being able to have any fun, the little girl deserved some fun.

Nik stared at Miya, he raised one eyebrow. It was like Miya knew he couldn't say no to her. Was he under a spell? He rolled his eyes. "Fine but Ell has to be home tonight" Nik said.

Ell jumped up and down, she was happy. "I get to stay" she said.

"Thank you" Miya said nodding towards him. "With my cousin being gone, it'll be lonely so having Ell here helps" she added.

"No problem" Nik said. He looked over to see Ell had ran off somewhere. Nik moved closer towards Miya, he was nervous. It was something that has never happened to him before. "Miya, I wanted to say that...." Nik stopped once he heard his phone.

He groaned as he pulled it out his pocket, he seen it was Phoenix. "Can we talk about this later?" he looked at Miya.

She simply nodded her head.

Nik answered the phone as he was walking out the door. "Talk to me" he said.

"I found a list of people that are in Chicago, these people work for the CIA, apparently the FBI got them involved because of the Germans" Phoenix said. "I also have a list of names of everyone that's involved" he added.

"Good" Nik said as he got inside his car. It wasn't fancy like the people in this neighborhood, just a beater that got him from a to b. "Meet me at the apartment" he said then hung up.

He turned the car over, then started to head towards the apartment. He didn't know what he was going to do about them being on his trail. He was more worried about Mykie and Ell, because child services wouldn't allow Mykie to take Ell so they would end up in a foster home. Nik had no choice but to find these people before they found him.

Thirty minutes later he arrived at the apartment building. He got out the car and headed inside. He spotted Amber which caused him to groan. He wasn't in the mood for her.

The girl came running up to Nik. "Are you busy later?" she asked.

"For you? Yes, I am" Nik said entering the building. He knew that was harsh but he didn't care, she needed to take a hint. He opened the door then walked inside. "Mykie!" he called out.

She came running out, she had on shorts and a green shirt. Her hair was up in a sloppy bun. "Where's Ell?" she asked.

"With Miya" Nik sighed tossing his keys on the coffee table. "Don't worry she's safe there" he added.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. He walked over taking a peep, it was Phoenix. Nik opened the door letting him inside. "Mykie go to your room" he said.

"Why? I'm apart of this business too" she replied with an eye roll.

"Now" was all Nik said.

Mykie stuck her tongue out, then walked to her room. She slammed the door, she was tired of Nik treating her like a child.

"Don't ever have teens" Nik chuckled.

"Definitely wasn't planning on it" Phoenix replied laughing a little. He made his way towards the sofa, he sat down.

Nil sat down in the brown lazy boy, it had holes and rips on it. It might have been old but definitely was still comfortable.

"So here are the list of names" Phoenix said. He pulled out two pieces of paper, then handed it to him.

Nik scanned the list, he started to call out some names. "Agent Bloom, Tommy Bridges, Evan Cooper" he said. "Reece Salvatore" Nik added. He didn't know who any of these people were, he looked up at Phoenix. "We have to find these people before thet get us" he said.

"I agree boss" Phoenix replied. "That's why I already had our boys looking into it" he added.

What Nik didn't know Reece and the others were already watching him. The minute Miya mentioned she was seeing him. The sad thing was Miya didn't even know it, she was oblivious about the entire thing. Reece didn't want to involve her into anything. He knew Nik and his path would cross sooner or later, Reece was prepared. He didn't want to hurt Miya by getting rid of the one person she loved but it needed to be done.
