"That place was rat infested— I could tell." I said

"How? We didn't even go inside." Chris said

"I said I can just tell."

"You didn't like any of the places so far. Honestly most of the places we find more than likely will have some type of critters' or pest' family living inside of it, but that's why we're going to get it remodeled." He explained as he pulled off

"You're right. I need to stop being so picky and keep in mind what we're looking for."

"Right, unless you just want me to make the decisions." He shrugged

"We can make 'em together." I said

"That'd be possible if you stopped complaining." He chuckled

"Okay, I'll be quiet for now." I replied

"I actually liked the other place that was on the corner downtown. Did you take down their number?" I asked

"Yeah. I took a picture of what I needed a picture of so we could go back to it." He replied

"Where we going now?" I asked

"To look at the last one. Well the last one for the day, a nigga hungry as hell."

I stared at him with my mouth partially opened, "What happened to all of those snacks you stole out of my house when you came to pick me up?"

"Aw, that shit was considered gone before we even got to the car. I was a lil' full after I finished it but one burp and I was hungry again." He explained

I shook my head and sat back in my seat.

"Oh— there's one." I pointed out

"Nah, I don't like the area it's in." He said and kept driving.

I rolled my eyes, "Why couldn't we have just done what normal people do and searched for vacant or houses up for foreclosure on the internet?"

"Because that's not where the best deals are."

"How come it isn't?" I asked

"Because it isn't, Tay. You not gone see, "Nice ass business but we ain't paid our taxes or water bill so our shit got shut down, but we willing to settle for whatever you'll give us 'cause we did put a lot of money in this and anything will help" on the internet."

I looked at him with raised eyebrows, "Well first of all, no, you won't— cause that's a long ass title, second of all, it still is possible, let's not shoot down the idea."

He ignored me and continued driving.

"Fuck it, I changed my mind. I don't think I can wait it out— where you tryna eat?" He asked as we halted at a light.

I chuckled while shaking my head, "It's up to you honestly. You're the one with your stomach about to go through your back."

"Say no more." He said

"I got another idea.." he added

"And that is?"

"How about we pull up to my place since it's a block from here and I put you on a plate and eat you then proceed to making us some real food." He said

That sounded great.

"Chris, stop playin'." I chuckled while hitting his arm.

He side eyed me with a faint smile, letting me know he definitely wasn't playing.

"One day." He mumbled, though I heard him.

"What was that?"

"Nothing at all."
