"Chris, slow down, you're talking too fast, I don't know none of this you're talking about." I said

"I ain't talking fast, it's just you listening slow." He said and looked up from the paper

I couldn't do anything but smirk, well that might be true.

"I'm serious, I may have graduated college but I didn't attend law school, so break down to me what you're saying..." I said

He sighed, "It's honestly irrelevant right now because it's regarding when court comes, we'll cross that bridge when we get there. But, as of now, it's..." He paused to look at the time on his silver wrist watch, "12:45 and a nigga hungrier than a mug." He chuckled while putting the papers back in its proper places

"I just got here at 11, so we're ending this soon?"

He placed his hand on his hip while his other hand rested on his desk and he just looked at me, "You never heard of taking a lunch break then resuming?" He asked

"Right, right." I said, feeling dumbfounded

He let out another chuckle, "Tuh... Ms. Taylor, ion know how you owned a business." He said

I side eyed him and rolled my eyes as we walked out of his office.

"What time is your lunch typically over with? I'll just meet you back up here." I said as he locked his office door.

"Doesn't your door automatically lock, what are you doing?" I asked

"I have another lock for security purposes since the information inside of here is confidential, unless you want me to unlock it and disarm the other lock and we can just let the entire world see your case." He said

"I need to stop asking you questions.. you make me feel stupid every time."

"There's nothing wrong with asking questions, babygirl, it's just the kind you ask, but to answer your question about the time I come from lunch..." he paused as we begin walking, "I honestly just finish when I finish, I'm kind of my own boss." He shrugged

"I'll shoot you a text when I'm done."

"Okay.." I said

"Where are you going?" he asked

"..you know, to eat?" He added

"Oh, I don't know. I was just gonna probably get something from Starbucks, I'm not really hungry."

"I'll let you know when I get back, I don't wanna eat through lunch alone." He said

"Oh really? Or you just like my company?" I smirked

"I mean, you aight to be around, that's about it." He shrugged with a side smile

I smiled to myself as we went our separate ways.

We met back up well after 20 minutes passed.

"Now you know that premature ass donut and caramel macchiato ain't gone fulfill even yo' dreams.." Chris said as he unwrapped the wrap his burger was in.

I smiled, "I told you I wasn't really hungry." I said

"You take one bite of that donut and watch you gone see how hungry you is, it happens every time." He said

I tuned him out and scrolled on my phone.

"So when will you start pulling the evidence that proves that fraudulent acts have been taking place at my company?" I asked

He shook his head, "No." He said

"No?" I asked confused

"No, we not doin' this right now. My lunch time is for me to forget about work and take a break, we'll resume in a good 30 more minutes." He said and continued stuffing his face.
