Sausage?

"Can we have a picnic outside for dinner?" Hyunjin asked, and I looked outside. The clouds covered the sun, but it was still a hot day. At least the clouds would make it bearable during a picnic.

"Sure. Minho, can you help?" The seven year old looked up at me from the couch and nodded, putting down the car he was playing with.

"Me help? What make?" Felix asked, his bangs falling into his eyes.

That was a good question. I was just going to walk into the kitchen and make whatever sort of picnic food I thought of first.

"Yeah, you could probably help. I think we're making sandwiches." He nodded and climbed up onto the counter.

"Do you still need me?"

"I think we've got this."

Minho happily went back to playing with Jisung, and I got out the necessary supplies to make the sandwiches. It's been a long time since we've had a picnic on our own lawn, but we used to do it a lot more.

"How does peanut butter and jelly sound?"

Felix smiled and reached for the loaf of bread to drag it over. I'll take that as a solid yes.

"Do we have chips?" Changbin came into the kitchen, rocking back and forth on his heels. I opened the top cupboard that was purposely out of their reach.

"No chips. Sorry, Binnie." The four year frowned, but ran back to wherever to do whatever he was previously doing.

"Is the picnic blanket in your closet or somewhere else?" I opened the strawberry container and thought. I know my closet is where it used to be in the old house, but I can't remember if I changed it's place.

"I think it's in my closet." Minho nodded and went to go find it, deciding he did want to help after all.

It didn't take long for the fruit and sandwiches to be finished and I put it all on plates for us to just take out to the lawn. There was no point in packing a basket if it was only going a couple meters.

"Shoes on, it's dinner time!" I handed a plate to Minho for him to take out with him, and I took three just from habit at the restaurant. Changbin and Hyunjin both took their own, and I had to come back inside to grab Seungmin and Jeongin.

I set the babies on the blanket Minho had placed out, and Seungmin crawled around a bit. I gave the two babies their own food, and the other boys started eating their sandwiches.

"Why does it smell like sausage?"

"Sausage!" Lix piped up, but I knew what Changbin was smelling was not sausage. Especially since I could see the guy walking down the sidewalk that went in front of the house.

"I'm not sure." I tried to play it off as the man got further away from us, but Felix kept repeating the word and bouncing around.

"That's not sausage, is it dad." Minho didn't even ask it as a question as he whispered to me, but I just looked at him oddly.

How the heck would he know the difference between marijuana and a sausage?
