High school is a whole different world of its own. Friends, enemies, cat-fights, love interests, competition and other things of that sort are what makes the experience stand apart. It's a period of growth and new discoveries, sometimes about others, sometimes about one's own self. To different people it's different things, but to Firdaus it was the closest thing to a second home. She enjoyed almost all of it surprisingly, with a few exceptions here and there. The thing she loved the most? The people around her.

"Hello! Aaj din bhar nazar nahi ayi aap. Kya baat hai, classes bunk kiye jaa rahe kya?" Aman teased as she took a spot beside him on the stairs.

"Jee nahi, class mein hi thi isi liye nazar nahi ayi. Subah thoda late hogaya tha, isilye bina idher udher dekhe seedha class mein chali gayi."

"Late kyun hogaya tha? Raat ko zyada daant pari kya?"

She smirked sarcastically and looked in the other direction.

"Areh chhoro, yeh toh hamesha hi hota hai. Nothing new. Kabhi kabhi sochti hoon main ghar wapis hi kyun jaati hoon? Ghar mein hostels se zyada stricter rules bana ke rakha hai Mallika-e-Jahan ne. Phir baba ka khyal aata hai. Honestly, agar woh us ghar mein nahi rehte na, toh main wahan kabhi nahi jaati."

"Now that's a bit of a stretch don't you think? Woh tumhara apna ghar hai Firdaus. Wahan nahi jaogi toh kahan jaogi?

She clicked her tongue, not knowing exactly how to answer the question. He wasn't wrong, but it was not like she was being serious either. Both knew she said stupid things when emotionally overwhelmed.

"Khair jaane do. Tum kal mujhse kuch kehna chah rahe the. University ke bare mein shayad." She looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to continue.

"Haan woh...actually...erm, tumne university ke bare mein kya socha hai? I mean, abhi hamare exams khatam hone mein sirf kuch hi maheene reh gaye hai. Kuch toh socha hoga tumne?"

She made a thoughtful face, but then ended up twisting her lips when she came to the conclusion that she actually had no idea.

"Maine is bare mein abhi socha nahi. Tumne kuch socha?"

Aman waited for a second before answering the question.

"Usi ke bare mein kuch discuss karna tha."

She didn't say anything further waiting for him to carry on, however he couldn't finish what he wanted to say before they were interrupted Jannat, Zubair and Kabir. The rest of the gang.

"Kya baatein ho rahi hain dono love birds mein?"

"Jannat, khuda ke liye aise tacky names na diya karo humein."

"Haan Jannat," Kabir said, "love birds ko love birds mat bulao. Bauhat hi tacky hai." He said in a mocking voice. All of them laughed when Firdaus threw a piece of scrunched up paper at him in irritability.

"Yaar Kabir mera dimagh mat khao, waise bhi subah se classes kar kar ke thak gayi hoon."

"Okay, sorry." Kabir threw his hands up in the air in protest.

Zubair stepped in to rant about his misery as well. "Yeh teachers hum logon se last moment tak aise gadho ki tarah kaam karwate hai, sau sau assignments dete hain, phir yeh bhi expect karte hai ke hum ghar jaakar poora din bas parhai kare. I mean, hadd hai!"

"Kya hogaya mere bhai, itna kyun chirr raha hai?" Aman asked.

"Kuch nahi. Miss Rubina ne aaj humare accounting ke mock papers wapis diye. Shadeed qism ki ghatiya paper thi." Jannat replied. "Tum logon ne bauhat achha kiya accounting na leke. Hum toh pehle din se hi suffer kar rahe hai."
