I am writing on my computer so I don't know how to do all of the normal things I would like bolding the font and italics. Bare with me!

The song for this chapter is "Apologize"

***********************************************************************************************Scott POV

A tear silently streamed down my face when the call ended. I sat there silently unable to move as pain wracked every inch of my body.

I slumped against the wall and felt my heart shatter into a thousand pieces once again as I had reopened the door to a painful walk down memory lane.

Tears continued to gather in my eyes as they slid down my cheeks rapidly.

I missed the good days before everything went to shit and my heart was shattered by rejection.

It wasn't anybody's fault but hers.

I sighed and wiped my eyes and my cheeks and stood up. Nothing can be done to change the past anyways. I have more pressing matters to focus on anyways.

I stood up and walked back into Emma's room and sat down in the chair beside her bed and sighed.

So much lost time over stupid drama. So much hurt and pain caused as a result.

So many secrets and so many lies..

I watched her as she slept and couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She was so innocent and caught up in the middle of a giant mess. A mess she didn't even cause.

I couldn't help but worry as I had a bad feeling about the attack that happened.

To be quite honest it didn't add up.

Wolves on our side should have known better than to attack her and wolves on her side should have known better than to attack her as well since they were her own pack.

I couldn't help but have a bad feeling that someone was behind this. The million dollar question was who though? Why would someone want to hurt someone who is so innocent and faultless.

I sat quietly thinking as the hours ticked by and I would occasionally get up and give her oral care or fluff her pillow or adjust her blankets to make her more comfortable. I brushed her teeth with dental swabs and brushed her hair gently and had one of the female pack nurses come in and give her a bed bath while she slept soundly and I stepped outside. I looked at my watch and it was evening now.

I walked into the waiting room and looked out the window and saw the other wolves had returned home probably long ago. I also noticed that Jacob, Emmett, Elaine, Andrew, and Odin had not once left the waiting room.

I crinkled my nose and spoke to Jacob and the others collectively, "Emma is doing fine. Why don't you all go and shower and eat something If you haven't already. I have spare clothes for everyone so that you can feel refreshed. You are free to freshen up in the extra hospital rooms or you may use the guest house rooms to freshen up. I am sure Alpha Jacob wouldn't mind, it has been a long past 48 hours."

They all nodded and Elaine and Emmett went outside toward the guest house while being guided by a nurse to go and freshen up and rest.

Andrew sat in the waiting room in a chair with his arms crossed stubbornly as he glared at Odin continuously.

I shook my head and said encouragingly, "Andrew why don't you go into one of the spare hospital rooms, shower, and a pack nurse can bring you a tray of food and spare clothes. Emma is just sleeping, she is doing fine."

Odin rolled his eyes and said quietly under his breath, "Not that it is any of Eddie's business either."

Andrew huffed and glared in his direction walking off with a nurse to a spare room to freshen up.

I turned and looked at Odin and Jacob who seemed to be having a momentary stare down. "Alpha why don't you go and take a quick shower and change clothes. Eat something maybe even. You don't want to be smelling or anything when Emma is ready to see you do you?"

He shook his head no and stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked toward a spare hospital room and closed the door.

I looked at Odin and stared at him for a moment wondering what had provoked him or the beast to attack Emma. A part of me couldn't help but clench my fist at the fact that it happened and my wolf growled lowly as well.

As far as him having a beast goes I have to say I am not surprised. I suspected that he was one of the rare occurrences in which a werewolf not only has a wolf but a bloodthirsty beast.

I then asked quietly as I sat down across from him, "What provoked you to attack Emma? She did nothing wrong and didn't even insult you. So what made your beast think it was fair for him to attack her and scare the shit out of her as a result."

Odin sighed and buried his face in his hands and after a moment spoke. "I don't know why or how but I smelled the scent of the rogue that killed my mate, Jacob's mother, so many years ago. I know I killed the one responsible for her death because my beast killed him. We made him suffer and his death was slow. My beast didn't mean to hurt her it was the scent that caused him to lose control."

I nodded gravely imagining him killing the one responsible for the death of his mate.

"Well I don't think you are anywhere close to getting father or father-in-law of the year award after that spectacle." I said sarcastically.

I still couldn't help being internally angry about the attack but I knew that no one was at fault and I know why it happened now at least.

He shook his head and said the word "Nope" and popped the p.

He then got up and walked off into a spare room to freshen up and rest I assume.

I sighed and walked back into Emma's room and sat down across from her.

She has questions she doesn't even know she has and I have the answers to them.

The secrets I was forced to keep.

And keep from her.

In time she would know the truth. Just not yet. I needed to find the right moment.

I sat staring out the window as the sun went down. Tomorrow morning the others could see her and she could leave the infirmary.

Her and Jacob have a lot to talk about.

I also have a lot to talk about with him.

I honestly don't know how to apologize for the lack of updates or communication at all. I was locked out of my account for a while and I couldn't remember the password. I thought for a long time that I was hacked because I did not know the email but somehow I managed to get back in.

To even try and remotely make up for the lack of updates on the book I plan on writing 3-5 updates tonight and publishing them as I finish each one.

This chapter is over a 1000 words and I honestly had some writers block but I did cook up an awesome plot for what is to come so I am super excited.

Also who do y'all think Scott talked to on the phone?

More is to come.
