Fights
Mornin' Miss Gloomy.' A blonde mage called out to you.
'Morning...'
'What happened? Where did your everlasting smile go?' Lucy said while sitting down next to you.
'D... Don't tell me you had a fight with G....' you had her mouth covered with your hand before she could finish the sentence. Lucy was too observant for her own good.
Yes, it was true tho. The one and only you had a.. disagreement with him. That hot stripping idiot.
You felt Lucy smirk underneath your hand, she got you. Licking your hand to set herself free she asked, 'Mind to share it? You might feel better afterwards.' She smiled at you. Of course she knew you had a crush on that fool. He was just to blind to see it.
But to be honest, you didn't even know what it was about again. The past few weeks it was always like this. It started as a disagreement. But as time passed you started yelling at each other. And the worst was neither of you had the urge to apologize. That was how it had been, always. But you did make up... in the past. And it only became worse. It was not that hard for bystanders to feel the tension in the air. It had hurt you to no end.
As the blondes eyes were locked onto you, you felt the tears sting at the back of your eyes. But you just wouldn't cry for the whole guild to see, it would just become a mess that way... and they would all blame Gray. Juvia on the other hand was delighted (might be a bit of an understatement) to see we were on bad terms... for now at least.
'If you feel bad about it, why don't you just apologize?' Lucy asked you. The words hadn't even left her mouth or you felt your cheeks burn up.
'WHY THE HELL WOULD I DO THAT' your chair fell down making the most irritating noise.
Everyone was staring at you. You didn't even knew you would react that stupid to such a logical question.
Why?
It was completely silent. You felt the room grow even more quiet. Scared for the answer you slowly looked to the entrance, only to find a pair of dark blue eyes belonging to a certain striping ice mage. You never knew it was even possible but for a split second it looked like his eyes grew even darker. Gray might not know what we were talking about, but he was clever enough to read the atmosphere. It was definitely about him.
'G...Gray...' you started. But the other words never came out. Only leaving a soft mumble behind. You felt like someone just ripped your heart out and painted your face read with the blood gushing out. What a disgusting thought that was, but how true it felt. He seriously hated you now. You just knew it.
Without a second thought you brushed past him, through the door of the guild that was always like your home, down the river they would empty when Gildarts came home, across the bridge you fell off once and that idiot came to safe you only to (almost) drown with you, through the park where always watching Natsu and Gray fight and behind all that... the sea. The sea that belonged to the beach. The beach that belonged to a path leasing to Grays favorite ice-cream shop. The sea which was one with Ur at the moment and for eternity.
Why didn't you just apologize? Just those two words. How hard could it be?
You sat down in the sand, the spot you always sat on this beach. The spot that crossed Gray's path. The spot where that idiot could always find you... always...
You felt a cold hand on your shoulder, a hand that could only belong to one person. Scared to make a wrong move, you just didn't. only sat there, waiting for him to say something. But he was silent. All dead silent.
'G..Gray..?' the same stutter. Déjà vu. Before you could turn around, you felt his arms around you, pulling you closer.
'I'm sorry...' he muttered, just hard enough for you to hear. 'I'm so sorry...'
Tears started rolling down your cheeks, slowly making your eyes red and puffed. 'Don't apologize before I could you idiot...' was the only sentence you could possibly say before you started to sob.
'I'm sorry for being such an idiot...' you didn't know if the others told him, or if he just said the right words at the right time, but he did say them. He could and you couldn't.
'I..'
Taking a deep breath you turned your head to the side. Seeing his face hidden in the back of your shirt. 'You... what?'
'I was just... scared?' he said, now facing you.
'For what?' you hoped for what he was going to say. But deep down you already knew. You knew all along, you just never wanted to admit it.
'I...' he swallowed 'I.. l.. love you....I guess....' he stuttered. Yeah, you might have been the bigger idiot.
'You idiot!' you declared. Seeing his face turn pale. 'why didn't you tell me sooner.' Convinced you were the only one with burning cheeks, you started to see a blush forming on his as well.
What an unexpected event. Not only the sight of a blushing Gray Fullbuster. The whole weird day.
'I love you too.'
And that's how it should be. You had the answer all along, you were both just scared. That was why. You just now realized how hopeless you guys acted all this time. Feeling cold lips press against your own. On that same spot you met, the same spot to Grays favorite ice shop you both actually loved so much and in front of the sea. With Ur watching over you. Promising her you would love this stupid stripping, still hotheaded, ice mage forever.
feeling disappointed when he pulled back, you opened your eyes. Seeing a smirk across his face, wondering why he looked at you that way he said, 'Who's the idiot now.' Realizing you were really holding him into a death grip.
'Sh...shut up!'
Forever.
