Being alone; that was one thing you didn't mind, but completely alone when it was a day of celebration, that was pushing it.

A tiny, tiny creak echoed through the room.

You head whipped around to behind you where the sound had originated to meet eyes with Mercer himself, a brow raised and head held high. Two bottles of mead hung by his fingers.

You beamed as a smile grew on your face. "I thought you weren't coming, Mercer!"

There was a snort. "I've been here for a while."

You flushed. "That's cheap," you claimed weakly.

He held out a drink, chuckling. "Isn't that my definition?"

You took the drink with a laugh, eyes closing briefly.

"I suppose it is, but at least you're not greedy," you smiled.

"True," he agreed. "Thanks to you."

"Oh, come on, my love," came the curling grin from the Bosmer as he slung an arm around your shoulders and used the other to gesture widely at the stars about you both. Your face was held in firm indifference. "You know you'd miss me if I went back to Valenwood."

"You'd miss me more than your coin after that last job," you retaliated smoothly, "is what you mean to say."

He screeched. "How dare you! I may have gotten stuck, but at least-"

"I got caught because of you, Nin!" you laughed.

The elf growled, slouching on the stone with a scowl. "You're so mean to me."

"At least I didn't shoot you in the leg," you barked.

"You startled me!" he defended. "I would never do that now, not to you."

"I know," you chuckled. "But I still have to get payback for that, you know."

He rolled his eyes. "You can try."

With a raised brow, you slipped his arm off you, placing a firm arm around his waist. Before he could ask any questions, you forced the arm forward and sent him flying to the lake water below. Quitely chucking to yourself, you soon followed, the chilled water meeting your skin just as the elf burst through the water, screaming and cursing and flailing.

Your loud, joyous laughter filled the night air, your head tiling back as you kept yourself afloat in the water while he scrambled for shore, sending sharp looks and cutting remarks.

"Cute lil' Bosmer got all wet!" you called.

He whipped around, hair dripping onto his drenched tunic as his eyes narrowed. "I hate you sometimes."

You winked. "Can't help but love me."

"That is my line, ____!" he raged.
