His breath had died in his throat when his eyes met yours on that fateful day.

Hadvar had almost forgotten you in his guilt- he'd sworn you had died at the Helgen attack and tried not to dwell on it.

But here you were, signing up to fight for the same people who had ordered your unfair execution.

Legate Rikkie gave him a sharp nudge, "Liutenant Hadvar, dismissed."

And he was forced to obey the order, attempting to ignore the pounding of his heart in his ears as he started to walk out of Castle Dour.

But the thing that got him most, oh, it wasn't from you being alive.

A hint of a smile blossomed on your face, and you gave him a respectful nod as he passed. Not a word was said, yet somehow, that soft expression on your face and lightened eyes would forever be implanted in his brain.

Even now, Hadvar replayed it over and over again, staring at the ceiling parrel to him as he laid on the rented bed.

He'd never really experienced such a strong feeling of... craving before. No, not craving. It was much, much more than that. He didn't just simply want you to warm his bed every now and then, in fact, the thought made him scowl.

Hadvar never wanted you for something as shameful as lust. Sure, you were most certainly immensely good-looking, but from the few times he'd come into contact with you, your personality is was snared him whole.

The kindness and compassion, but cold determination to win that kept you going. You were everything at once, and he couldn't help but fall head for heels for you.

In any case, you were the one who led the Empire to victory, no doubt you would be celebrating in the packed bar below him, laughing and cheering to triumph.

He didn't think it was his place to try to intrude on you. You were wild, strong, and he knew all too well how little you liked to be caged in.

Then again, he wondered if events like these were just as constricting as General Tullius had been to you.

He vanquished the thought. Unlikely.

A quiet hit of his door echoed in the room, and he slowly raised his torso, opening his eyes and sighing.

"Go ahead," he called, poorly attempting to fix his now wrinkled mahogany tunic as the door to his room silently opened, someone padding in and closing the door behind them.

"You do look rather ravishing tonight, Hadvar. A shame for you to hide out in your room donning such a view," a familiar teasing voice stated, and he nearly froze as footsteps rang in his ears, closer and closer.

He inhaled sharply.

Oh, Mara be praised, he was going to need help to not sputter every damn sentence.

He flickered his gaze to you, brown hair loosely hanging as endeavored to shrug your rather sultry comment off as playful.

Gods, you were stunning. Why must he be tortured so?

Waist belts on you looked better than breath-taking, and Hadvar could barely hide his humiliation to his body's response. Damn it all, he was losing it.

"I'd say you look better, ____," he answered curtly.

Your lips curled into a smile. "Charming as ever. Mind if I stay a while? Celebrations really aren't my specialty I'm afraid."

He nodded instantly, almost too earnest to not pique interest from you. "I'd be glad to accompany you."

You ambled over to a table across from his bed, drawing out a chair and sitting on it as you seemingly got caught up in your thoughts.

Before the silence got uncomfortable, you spoke, soft in a manner that seemed to be riddled with guilt.

"Hadvar, I haven't ever gotten the chance to thank you for all you've done for me," you started quietly. "And because of that, I think I owe the whole truth to you."

His heart plummeted in his chest.

Hadvar knew where that statement led.

"I uhm," you bit your lip, "I am rather horrible at stating what I think, so forgive me for my stumbling."

"All that matters is stating it," he encouraged lightly, despite the growing despair that hollowed his bones.

"I know how you feel about me," you stated quickly, "at least, what other soldiers have rumored about, and I-I... I'd like to say very clearly that I very well enjoy you too."

His breathing stopped, stalk still as he stared at the rug that decorated the floor.

"If it was just rumored, that's fine, pretend it never happened, I'll-"

"No, no, no, don't think that," he stated, tense as you rambled, expecting a harsh rejection but getting all but that. "If I let you walk out now I'm certain I'll regret it even after I die."

Your rushed and panicked actions turned into a wide-eyed, shocked stare, and you looked as if you about ready to cry.

"Really?" was your astonishment, and he nodded, chuckling.

"Of course."

Abruptly, you lunged from you chair, embracing him in a hug that he'd never forget as you started to cry, his arms wrapped jsut as tight around you as you were around him.

His heart calmed, and for once in his life, he was completely at peace, your light scent drafting around him as you buried your head in his shoulder.

"I don't have a room," you stated suddenly, soft and quiet as you sniffed.

"Stay here."

"You don't mind?"

"So long as you're comfortable sleeping in the same bed as me," he answered with a barely contained sly grin.

You giggled, "Fine. But I need cuddles, I get cold."

"Gladly."

"Okay, you're just horny now," you huffed, rolling out of the embrace to pout beside him.

He barked out a laugh, "I am merely joyed to have you near."

"That is the most understated thing I've ever heard. Seriously."

"Well, it is true."

"Really joyed then," you teased, and he snorted.

"____, you are out of this world."

"Hadvar, you sound like a poet."

"Well, I do know you enjoy poets."

"Okay, you tramp, you got me. However, I'm cold," you huff.

A grin slid on his face, "There are two ways to fix that, you do know."

Your face lit up red, but you responded in kind.

"Mornings are more adventurous."

"Well, I will await dawn, then."

"As will I."
