Chapter 3: Interest At Heart

Start from the beginning

Understood.

"Well, something off topic from work, what do you do for fun?" I asked

"That's my personal business." He said

"So what was my purpose of joining you in your lunch if I'm just going to watch you eat.."

"I said I just wanted the company." He said

I stared at him and rolled my eyes.

"Chris, a woman by the name of Ariel wants to speak with you- she said she had an appointment." His assistant said through the buzzer.

"Oh" I said

"It's not what you think it is so stop, matter of fact, mind ya business." He said with a fake smile

He took a deep sigh and got up.

Chris

"How the hell did you find out where I worked?" I asked once I finally made it outside of my office.

"Come on now, Chris, you have your work scattered around your house." She said, with folded arms

"Okay, now that you here what do you want?"
I sighed

"I just wanted to see you.." she said, twirling a piece of hair

"Alicia I have a client here, you can't just be poppin' up like this! Especially if we not even a thing—" I started

"Well let's make us a thing... and it's Ariel!" She sternly said

"I can't even remember yo' name for crying out loud so what makes you think I wanna be wit' you? Go home and please don't pop back up here, unless you wanna be escorted out by security." I said, about to turn away

"And please, whatever you do, don't pop up at my crib— or it's gone be major consequences." I added then went back into my office.

I fucked up by even bringing her back to my place, damn that liquor.

"Lady problems?" Taylor asked, without looking over to me

I closed my office door back with a sigh, "Something around it."

Can't control my hoes.

I could be in a relationship, but I don't want one. My job is too demanding and I don't have time to hear complaints of what I should and shouldn't be doing, how much time and attention she needs but my job is in the way, all of that shit.

"But, lunch break over, back to this case.." I said and threw away my trash

She put her phone on the table and adjusted herself in the seat, "Okay," she sighed, "Well back to my question I asked earlier before you dissed me, when will you start collecting the evidence that proves that fraudulent acts have been taking place at my company?"

I adjusted my blazer over me and scooted closer to the table, "I'll collect the evidence as soon as we have everything squared away about Lance, I don't wanna be hopping all over the place and get confused and the information is just everywhere. We'll start with the information about him, but I think that's done for now, then we'll move on to the information you knew about him, where the significance in that is, and we'll piece that together and gather things about your company and why he would want your company, then shortly after we'll prep our case." I explained
